There's absolutely no way Labour can fix the country in the short term. They have 14 years of Tory rule to fix. Brexit damage to fix. Covid damage to fix.

If Reeves is suggesting we're looking at a fix that is on a monthly timescale. This doesn't seem realistic.

The UK is pretty much a services and consumption based economy. When high inflation and interest occurs, and people spend less, its going to fall on its arse. Really we need to be manufacturing things and providing things to the world but...we don't. Not anything tangible anyway.

I think she is living in the past, like 1978 past.

When there was some manufacturing in this country just about surviving.

That was the foundations then but now the world and this country has changed the foundations are sitting in quick sand of IT pie in sky companies and false hopes in AI not forgetting floppy crypto fad.

Even the proverbial house building situation is wishful thinking, how many flood planes are going to be used and villages wrecked.

Local councils can't cope with the current size of towns and cities.

To rebuild this country's economy is impossible and if someone says it's repaired after a term or two will be lying. There will still be a black hole in 5,10,15 years.

Then the only way to control what's left of the economy is to chip everybody to control everybody in what they do, spend and live or die.

Maybe if the pensioners were given a summer fridge payment there would be more money in circulation to spend and help grow the the economy.

So expect it to flatline over the winter as less pensioners get the winter fuel payment.

Spending will drop, prices will rise, interest rates will go back up, taxes will rise, poverty will rise, crime will rise, prisons fill up again.

Not really any better than the Tories.

Apparently the black hole can filled by other means, that's if it really exists.

The £22bn black hole is dwarfed by labour adding £400bn to the national debt in their previous government and the 700 PFI schemes that cost us a fortune and had poor value

Red and blue are costing us £9bn a month on their £2.6trn debts

Then the tories trebled the debt again.

No winners here

Worthing

The money makers are heading for the hills (i.e. abroad) before Labours budget. It's back to the 1970s all over again!
