There are people who talk a lot about social inequality aka progressives.
Usually there is a huge overlap between the two groups. But some socialists hate the progressives because they believe that the progressives hijacked the socialist movement and took it in the wrong direction. These socialists are called tankies  |

Why "tankies"?"
That's a good question. I just searched the internet. It apparently has to do with the fact that they are Soviet style socialists - openly authoritarian and agree with Stalin/Lenin's politics. They admit that socialism and eventually communism can only be achieved through authoritarianism. Fair play to them for being honest.
The word "Tankie" was originally used by one faction of Marxist-Leninist group against another faction that supported using Tanks to suppress uprisings against the Soviets. |

Not in my world. Tankies are tank crew. Aka tankers.
