Seeing as she inherited Bidens delegates

A fat better result than 2020 where she secured fucking zero delegates

Trump has refused to attend the 10th September debate on ABC as they will be using real time fact checking as the debate goes on.

He has proposed a debate on Fox with no fact checking that is what he thinks Harris should agree to. Harris says she will attend the previously agreed date of September 10th. The man is a con artist who only a moron would support

No… but it’s a trick by the trump campaign to get out of the ABC news debate, it’s a face saving exercise

By “offering” to do it on Fox News, he thinks they won’t go in on him and question him as hard (he only agreed to do the NABJ panel the other day if he was allowed to handpick one of the 3 people on the panel… he specifically chose Harris Faulkner of Fox News)

Harris won’t agree to a singular debate on Fox News… trump will then claim she is scared… people will point out he has a date on ABC, he will then claim that is null and void as it’s a different candidate!

It’s a negotiation tactic… he doesn’t want to look like he is backing out, whilst in the process backing out!!

Trump needs the spotlight… doing this gives him one day in the news cycle before Harris picks her VP, and then you still have the DNC convention in 3 weeks time

My guess will probably end up doing 3 somewhere…. One on fox, one on nbc and one on abc/cbs…. With a vice presidential debate on CNN

So the original quote of 50% was wildly inaccurate then. He should have said 47.8%. I bet he feels stupid now.

Basically trump is making demands he knows the Harris campaign won’t agree to

1) he wants a singular debate of the channel he perceives to be “trump friendly” (Fox News)

2) he wants it in front of an audience (so he can play to the crowd)

3) he wants no live facts checking by the moderators or on screen during the debate

He knows that the campaign or other broadcasters (besides Fox News) won’t agree …

So this is just the starting point in any negotiations

Actually during the CNN debate they showed that trump actually lied in every single question asked in the debate when fact checked afterwards….

The problem for trump is going to be that Harris has said she will be there at the original debate site on September 10th… and ABC have said that if trump doesn’t show up, they will just turn the debate into a 90 minute “town hall “ style interview with Harris

Fox News is not available in every household in the country…. ABC is coast to coast free to air

The trump campaign would be ceding 90 minutes on free advertising in prime time to their opponent…. And ABC would be under no obligation to do the same for trump as he declined to be there after originally accepting!

This is why trump will end up doing it… there is nothing he could do to counter program

Yes I hear you...Trump is a liar, one of the biggest but biden spun plenty of his own during his finest hour at the CNN debate and harris is well known for spouting bullshit. If the two actually get in the ring together it'll come down to who can lie the best. The American public deserve so much better than these two clowns.

You seem to be assuming that all morons voted, and that all morons voted for trump. Both baskets assumptions.

Less than 100 per cent of the adult population voted. And not every single moron would have voted for trump. Most of them would though

Okay… my thoughts….if the trump campaign were not at least worried, there is no way they would have gone back to ABC about the debate on September 10th after making such a song and dance about pulling out

Also I wonder if they will give into the trump demand or play them off… he desperately wants an audience… but also desperately does not want to be live fact checked

If they say he can have one, the much bigger deal is the live fact checking!

Do I expect it to look like the CNN debate (no audience and no live fact checking) and for Trump to still complain….

And that’s where Harris the prosecutor will have an advantage .. she is the better debater, and where trump made Biden look old, look for Harris to do the same thing with trump’s

That can work against her. Like with George W - you can win (an election) by losing (in debates). You just frame your opponent as a nasty, nagging bitch, whom nobody should like. A jumped up woman of undiscernable colour, who is trying to be smart. Someone who thinks they're better than all of you, because she knows fancy words and can use them in context.

Kamala will need to be careful, because winning is not necessarily "winning".

I think it depends on the type of win. If Trump is made to look even more of a confused, rambling old man than he makes himself look, then it’s a good win. However, if she picks him apart on facts, policy, and it won’t affect how his supporters feel. They don’t care that he’s a lying, racist, misogynistic, criminal piece of shit, they’ll vote for him anyway.

"

Do these abysmal performances impact his ratings in the polls?"

Good question….

The answer is…. Ish! There is a saying that instead of projecting forward what your campaign is basically looking at doing is “winning the day”

Best way to answer that is to look at the average “poll of polls”

Trump vs Biden pre first debate…. Trump +2

Trump vs Biden post first debate… Trump +5

Biden gone… Harris in!

Trump vs Harris.. day 1…. Trump +3

You could argue that Trump has no won one days news cycle since Harris took over… basically Harris has gone 15-0 so far

Trump vs Harris … day 15…. Even!

Then in two weeks time you have the democratic national convention in Chicago… basically a whole week to showcase yourself and the party in prime time across all 4 free to air networks .. so it normally gives you a bit of a bounce…

trump vs Harris post convention… possibly Harris +2/3?

And that’s what has probably forced Trump back into doing the debate on ABC September 10.. could well be trying to fight momentum!

I think it depends on the type of win. If Trump is made to look even more of a confused, rambling old man than he makes himself look, then it’s a good win. However, if she picks him apart on facts, policy, and it won’t affect how his supporters feel. They don’t care that he’s a lying, racist, misogynistic, criminal piece of shit, they’ll vote for him anyway.amazing how many ppl on here know how the Americans think that’s why a asked _abio atleast he knows his onions

Some of us might even be Americans, and be able to vote in US elections...

Of course but only a few I think _abio can that’s why I asked him he always as a lot of knowledge on the US "

That can work against her. Like with George W - you can win (an election) by losing (in debates). You just frame your opponent as a nasty, nagging bitch, whom nobody should like. Do these abysmal performances impact his ratings in the polls?

"

So I'm assuming that these debates can potentially sway those in the middle who are unsure?

Just seems weird from the outside looking in that people are still 50/50 on Trump. He's divisive and people usually have a solid opinion one way or another.

Did you notice Harris's popularity rating as VP?

In politics, notoriety trumps "blah".

I didn't pay attention to Harris's popularity as VP to be honest.

But what I mean is, not only is Trump divisive. But is usually with very strong feelings. People either love him or hate him. None of my friends in the US are undecided on him.

Like, obviously some people are. But I struggle to imagine there are lots of them.

To be fair, you don’t need some amazing insight re Americans to make that “vote for him anyway” comment.

Firstly, his polling numbers prove it. PR disasters come and go, and some of them even push his numbers upwards.

Secondly, even trump himself commented that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and his numbers wouldn’t change.

Fwiw, I also lived in the US for 5 years

The floating / undecided vote is quite small, but it is the battleground for winning the election.

What's this Tim Walz. I've only looked at his Wikipedia. And I'd never heard of him before a couple of weeks ago.

He seems reasonable.

Has he been picked because they thing he's popular, or good, or both?

US national debt has topped $35 trillion

The interest is over $2bn a day.

Add $17 trillion consumer debt.

I wonder if they will reach financial armageddon

He lied and exaggerated the truth behind his military service and made it mandatory for schools in his state to put tampon dispensers in the boys lavatory.

Tampon Tim they're calling him.

He's a great recruitment vehicle for trump.

He didn’t lie as such… he was in the national guard for 24 years where as part of that he was stationed in Italy actually preparing troops to go into Afghanistan… so he never as such saw duty in a combat zone, but was adjacent…. Anyway JD Vance really isn’t the best attack dog to make that because yes he was in the marines, and yes he did a 6 month stint in Afghanistan, but as a photojournalist !

Anyway they will try to paint waltz as a radical leftist… but he will just turn round and say I have guns , go hunting, had a NRA A rating until I gave back all campaign contributions after parkland, and did the communist thing of actually passing a bill that gives free school meals to children, breakfast and lunch! And protected women’s rights because he and his wife had to go through IVF

He is “Minnesota nice” (if you watched Fargo you will know what I mean)

He has a relatability about him

Minnesota Nice: Surface level kindness to make day to day interactions more pleasant for all involved, without the long term commitment of friendship or even midterm obligation to follow up on it.

When you live there for a long time, you find the baseline. Mind you, it's exactly the same in London - and not quite as bad in Berlin.
