I was wrong, he didn't say "Will be" he said "what is the first truly Islamist country that will get a nuclear weapon"
Word for word under here, it is hard to read, the tenses are all over the place..

My dearest mother was bemoaning the country turning in to something else the other day (She watches GB News and has self-radicalised, like you do).
I said "You know countries and civilisations evolve right ?"
"Oh no", she said, "We are a Christian Country".
"Not originally. We were Pagan. And probably Animists before that. But the Romans brought their Pantheon over. All their Gods/Goddesses. Then they went full Christian. So things do change. It's normal." |

He mentioned it as a joke about Labour being pro-Islam. But I can see Labour changing their stance on Islam after seeing how their own candidates got harrassed during the recent election campaign just because the candidates did not support some people's stance on the Palestine issue.
The liberal left bending over backwards to defend Islam didn't make any logical sense to begin with. The sooner they realise, the better it is for them. |

You act like those changes happened smoothly where everyone sat together and peacefully converted. Most of those changes involved brutal murder and oppression of some groups. Changes happen all the times, yes. Doesn't mean you have to sit and let it happen. |

Actually I didn't mention the friction of change, as that was not relevant to our discussion. I was challenging the "We are X, so we must always be X" inflexibility of her outlook. I don't think she understood that if at some point in the future the population of the UK at that time elect a government to implement new laws as suits their beliefs, and they were in a majority, the UK would cease to be predominantly Christian and move to another system. I accept that whilst I may have been in a majority at one point in my life, it is not guaranteed to always be the same for the rest of it.
I suppose you could look at Jesus and the Romans for example.
Romans : We are X. We have all these gods.
Jesus : Hold my wine...
Christianity has overthrown many systems, and in turn it will get overthrown. All systems eventually do.

All changes come with friction. You can't ignore that friction just like that and use "change is normal" as an argument to let something happen. It is relevant to the discussion.
Let me turn this around. If an ideology based on racial supremacy takes over in the country and someone starts complaining about it, would you agree with the complaints or would you just say "change is normal because historically... blah blah blah"?
There are reasons why some people are scared of Islam. Go look at how minorities are treated in Islamic countries. These people have all the rights to raise their concerns about it. |

For all the media scaremongering you don't find many islamists at all in the UK military. Its the armed forces that have the guns. If things did ever go south you can be certain the military would crack down very quickly indeed. Their allegiance is to the crown, not whatever MP or party that just happens to get elected. |
