'It has been another bad week for Vladimir Putin.

He started his war in Ukraine to limit Western expansion, he says.

It is accelerating apace, entirely because of his aggression.

In direct response to his unprovoked invasion, Ukraine has this week been able to sign a 10-year security pact with America - a bridge to its eventual membership of NATO, even if that is still a very, very long way away.

And Putin has been powerless to stop the West taking $300bn in frozen Russian assets and using the interest to wire $50bn for aid to Ukraine'

And in BREAKING 'Putin not ruling out peace talks'.

Just loving this . . . paying for missiles to be fired at them . . .

The prolonging of the war is bad for everyone. Western countries tax payers, whose money is going to a war while at home they are being told there's no money for public services.

For Ukrainian and Russian people who are either dying or having loved ones killed. Country reduced to rubble.

The only people lapping it up are the arms suppliers and their shareholders. Which you can bet most western political leaders will be big time.

Exactly! The only ones benefitting are the big arms industries.

What doesn't sit well with me is the thought that NATO is fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian. A lot more diplomacy earlier could have averted this situation.

What's the solution? Give Putin the territory he is asking for?

If we do so, do you think Putin will stop there and not try to take more territories? And what do you think will happen to people living in these territories?

"

380,000 Ukrainian combatant casualties, 20,000- 30,000 civilians killed, fifth of Ukraine territory occupied that ain’t coming back, Mariupol under redevelopment and refurbished apartments sold of plan, half a trillion dollars destroyed infastructure, no fighter jets delivered by the west, 13 million UA refugees in Europe, delayed weapon deliveries and not enough ammunition

Nato and allies woefully inadequate. .

More than 90 countries and international organisations attending the Ukraine peace summit.

Several countries attending that receive UK foreign aid including India and South Africa did not sign the final summit document.

Why are we paying uk taxpayers hard earned to countries supporting Russia. Let Putin pay for their clean water.

Sure that's a fair take. But Indian government stopped taking foreign aid a few years back. They are net donors now. Whatever aid UK sends is channeled through private charities.

If you care to read the article which you shared, you will find that my point still stands. They are investments and they aren't going through the Indian government.

I don't know Putins mind and neither do you. If Russia has lost has many men as the media claims. Its in no shape to try and take more territory. Not in Putins life time.

There's always s solution, if there is a will on both sides. If Ireland had said they weren't going to stop fighting unless all of Ireland was free. Then who knows where we would now.

I know the IRA kept fighting, but they were a much smaller marginalised group. But like I said there too many people getting awfully rich from this war, to let it end anytime soon. By the way, it not you or me.

Well after Brexit, the UK is going around the world currying favour (excuse the pun) from the fastest developing countries. Which South Africa and especially India are among.

Any aid or investment whether through government or charities, will seem like small change.

It is brilliant for the arms industry, all these vehicles, missles, and other bits are getting battle tested. They can see just how good or bad their equipment really is.

Indeed, it's called "Soft Power".

.

Because if we don't curry favour with certain countries, our enemies most definitely will. This will strengthen them and weaken us. So we have no choice but to throw money at these other nations, if only to outmanoeuvre our enemies.

.

We have been fighting an economic war for decades now. It's just been under the radar until recently.
