Today, Bulgaria and Romania join the Schengen Family.
For EU Citizens this also means the lifting of internal air and sea border checks.
This is a great success for the people of both countries.
It also benefits millions of EU citizens across Europe. |

No biggie, just means genuine travellers don't have to fuck about at airports (unlike us Brits, daughter travels on German and UK passports, grandson only has a UK one, not allowed to board Ryanair last weekend - even though they had three-day return tickets - 'cos it "only" had a couple of months left on it).
The real shit travels overland (or, in our case, rubber dinghy) but "Schengen" doesn't prohibit stop'n'search.
We often cross from France to the market in Ventimiglia, quite frequent checks on buses and coaches by both Italian and French Police. |

Which parcels, which borders? Forget sending anything between the UK and the EU, even Christmas presents in either direction had to be taken to a Post Office and customs declarations completed (value of contents "zero" obviously) and a couple got "lost". But between us in France and friends/family in Germany and Luxembourg, delivery in one or two days. |
