Illegal is down but still coming in...

Legal.. record numbers of visas dished out willy nilly..

How long before the impact of this disaster will be felt ?

And will labour open the floodgates?..

This important view has been shut down by "oooh your a racist" retort lbut suella braverman has been the only Tory to have balls to try to address this.. it's a shame Sunak hasn't the balls

Terra Firma

I disagree with your views on visa applications rising and the idea they are being dished out willy nilly.

Do you have any specific trade / occupation that you feel this applies to?

Good question. I'm interested why Labour are being brought into a discussion about a Tory policy.

Further interested to know why a reduction in legal immigration would be beneficial.

Lots of sectors.. foreigners on visas can be paid 20% less than UK workers so foreigners are preferred

Foreign students can be charged more by universities so UK students miss out on places.

Foreign Student's so called "dependants" can get visas

Apparently once here can then find ways and means to stay permanently

How long can this keep on going endlessly

The jobs market would have to pay *everyone* the same rate for a start.. not taking advantage of 20% less rates for foreign workers

Universities will have to charge all students the same rate - not be allowed to take foreign students for higher fees and passing the negative impact onto the UK population

I'd prefer lower and better managed immigration. A large part of this comes from piss poor planning from all sides.

Something like a quarter of work visas went to health and care.

What happens if we didn't have these? Can you automate care easily? Or would care levels reduce massively?

Are there massive of unemployed Brits who'd do this if only the pay was higher ? And are they skilled ?

Specifically skilled when no UK nationals can take the job as s stopgp measure while UK workers are encouraged to train

couple, us we him her.

Well as there's a massive shortage of workers in the hospitality sector due to British nationals not wanting to work in this sector.

Brexit resulted in lot's of European workers returning to their own countries leaving hotels, pub's and restaurants woefully short and has resulted in place's shutting down and others increasing price's to be able to offer higher wages.

Why not let those people who want to work whilst waiting for immigration status work.

In short because in hospitality, the work conditions are harsh and the pay is crap, UK workers won't do it..

Hospitality are happy to exploit foreign workers, and burdon the UK housing, public services etc..

Surely high prices for foreigners is a good thing. The universities are bringing in money from abroad, and using it to educate British kids. Why is that bad?

Erm. You mean these people are paying taxes? The government could use it to invest in social housing. But they don't.

Spoiler alert. If the government stopped all foreigners coming in. Not only would the tax revenue drop. But they also wouldn't magically suddenly give a fuck about housing people. In the meantime, keep blaming foreigners for everything. Win/win for the government.

"It is unsustainable "

Migration watch says each one costs the country one million pounds over their lifetime.

“This means an annual cost per asylum seeker per month of just under £4,300 (a figure which seems to have risen by £1,825 since late 2021). The amount of taxpayer money spent per asylum seeker per month is now 1.5 times the average monthly pay for NHS nurses.” 28 Sept 2022

Similar amount to the average total earnings of a working person over 40 years in work.

How is your plan of pricing British people out of higher education related housing?

Higher education isn't the be all and end all

Indeed. The other chap seems confused about it.

Healcare visas up 90%

Dependants of students up 80%

Study 70%

British taxpayer's money used to cover these extra people plus make the housing availability worse...

I don't blame the foreigners at all.. if a country was daft enough to allow people in like that I'd go for it ..

It's this shite government and people blinded by the daft arsed ideas

"

You think this government isn't hateful enough towards foreigners?

"Illegal is down but still coming in...

Legal.. record numbers of visas dished out willy nilly..

How long before the impact of this disaster will be felt ?

And will labour open the floodgates?..

This important view has been shut down by "oooh your a racist" retort lbut suella braverman has been the only Tory to have balls to try to address this.. it's a shame Sunak hasn't the balls

What disaster? Why do you mention Labour opening the floodgates? Aren’t Labour irrelevant here?

Good question. I'm interested why Labour are being brought into a discussion about a Tory policy.

Further interested to know why a reduction in legal immigration would be beneficial.

Labour have no real policy and sound worse than the shambolic tories

Why does it sound "worse"?

What will happen to the job market and to the economy if we don't have enough people to do the jobs?

The jobs market would have to pay *everyone* the same rate for a start.. not taking advantage of 20% less rates for foreign workers

Universities will have to charge all students the same rate - not be allowed to take foreign students for higher fees and passing the negative impact onto the UK population

So we're talking no foriegners in the country at all?

Universities will go out of business without income from foreign students. Or will have to charge British students a lot more.

Wouldn't be a major problem but they stay here.. and their dependants..

Okay so as long as the universities make a profit the whole UK housing , infrastructure and public services can go to pot then.

Good idea! Never thought of that one

"JTN..

Is it acceptable for UK employers to exploit the 20% cut in foreign workers pay rather than employing UK workers on full wages.?

I don't read the Sun. So I don't blame foriegners for any dubious practices that some employers may or may not use.

Ps. No I don't hate/rage/malice/fury/curse/despise

What's your preference for how to describe your foreigner based outrage? Happy to use another term."

Your replies are based on opinionated nonsense rather than logic and common sense..so I'll leave this conversation with you.

"I'll ask again.. how sustainable is 1.4 million legal migrants per year sustainable?"

To me it depends on if there is 1.4 million unfilled jobs that employers genuinely can't find locals to do each year. So the figure will fluctuate yearly depending on these unfilled jobs. What I don't agree with is if the country has say 100,000 unfilled jobs, they let in unlimited numbers. 100,000 unfilled jobs should equal 100,000 legal immigrants who have the required skills for those jobs. They should also get the current rate of pay, not a vehicle for employers to cut their wage bill.

Look at the changes to smaller towns around the country the last few years. Those floodgates are already open so don't fall for the 'Labour would be worse' lie. They all drink at the same bars and have the same circles of friends...
