I don't really think so. I think he wouldn't dare to touch NATO while Ukraine is more of a follow up from 2014 conflict

Just in my personal opinion I worry about cost of living much more and of course potholes

He wouldn't dare touch NATO? I very much doubt it. NATO, without the USA, is toothless. It's been piggybacking on the states for decades. Until we/NATO actually start increasing defence spending it will remain vulnerable.

Are the USA leaving NATO then?

The USA don't need nato, they can get to Russia from their western pacific seaboard.

A flippant remark but is it really that unthinkable?

How do you suppose he will get his army across? They could go by sea. Trying to navigate the Baltic Sea (read Lake NATO) would be challenging to put it lightly. He could of course opt for an airborne assault. Given Russian reluctance to try this in Ukraine post-2022, I can imagine there will be greater difficulty landing soldiers here because, again, geography. You can't really begin an invasion without neutralising the air force/navy. Starting with Britain if you want a war with NATO would be strategic stupidity on a level that would make even Putin blush. It's just a non-starter. It has taken the Russians 2 years to travel 30km in Ukraine. What is arguably more alarming to them, the Ukrainians have no functioning Navy, yet the Russian armed forces (which we should be apparently terrified of) do not have operational freedom in the Black Sea. How would they fare against an actual Navy? Further from their ports. While I'm not for a moment underestimating the issues with our armed forces, I'd like to think the RAF and Royal Navy are better equipped than the Ukrainians were in 2022. The Russians haven't exactly performed all that well in spite of numerical and tactical superiority.

"Is anyone else worried this idiot will cause world war 3.he's on about targeting Germany first."

As in the years before the second Second World War, we as a country are (as is most of Europe) woefully unprepared for large scale war.

Modern liberal thinking that we have all become used to in the West over several decades means that the very idea of vicious armed conflict is quite literally unimaginable. This has allowed Putin free rein to commit murder and mayhem in his own country and beyond.

Most of us didn’t believe that Russians would actually have tried to murder the Skripols (even after what happened to Litvinenko) because the thought of state sponsored international murder squads loose across the world seemed incomprehensible.

Today the threat is very real and anyone who thinks Putin will stop at Ukraine when he senses hesitancy and weakness is deluded. If Russia does manage to steamroller Ukraine into submission, native Ukrainians will be persecuted for generations and the Chinese and North Koreans will become equally emboldened.

The Government is wrong to rule out National Service and if anything the U.K. Government and every other Western Government should be visibly increasing their commitment to spending more on conventional arms and manpower. This is the only language thugs and Dictators understand.

"

That is only because generations of reasonable minded, western liberal thinking people have come to realise that war and conflict is nothing more than a pointless loss of life and therefore they cannot imagine what a real threat even feels like.

No-one imagine that there could ever be another war after 1918 because everyone had learned painful lessons. Yet only two decades later war raged again in Europe.

Today we are all even more insulated from the concept of large scale conflict because there are so few people alive who remember the last one.

If it comes - people will have to change, and they will.

If Ukraine had been supported properly at the outset there would be no further threat

Half of the arms have been sent late, still dithering on planes. Can’t manufacture enough ammunition.

Fergal keanes report a couple weeks ago said 380,000 Ukrainian combatants killed and injured, Ukraine said 31,000 this week

How much of their effective army has been destroyed.

Exactly. Ukraine had a nuclear deterrent and Russia went nowhere near. NATO guaranteed their safety if they disarmed, Russia took a punt and here we are. Pathetic appeasement and those in power have learnt nothing from history... AGAIN

Is the Russia vs Nato argument pointless. If it progresses that far would it not be nuclear armagedon and were all vaporised?

Wouldn't put it past him to do anything stupid and start a war on bigger scale. It depends a lot on how long Ukraine can hold them though.

Russia and the west are at war.

Not feet on the ground but misinformation and propaganda, they use their undercover agents to assassinate anyone they choose.

Many in the USA now seem to be in love with Russia since a journalist who is probably a Russian agent and friend of Trump and Musk interviewed Pootin

And of course Putin's distraction tactics in Gaza have worked. All eyes are there now, forgetting the closest war to us in Ukraine.

Putin putting Iran up to telling Hamas to attack Israel is pretty plausible.
