TheLiberal Democrats have lost their deposits in both by - elections . At least that is one party we can write off.
Let's hope Sunak either resigns or is fired . We can then replicate the success of David Cameron , Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Liz Truss . Sunak must get the prize for being one of the worst prime ministers ever.
Let's have a rest, get a new leader and replicate the success of the last four elections |

In politics parties room 101 there might actually be a locked cupboard marked 'basket case solutions'..
And right at the bottom a dusty, cobwebs covered file..
'only to be opened in times of desperation and refusal to face reality.'

The Lib Dems losing their deposit is probably more worrying for the conservatives than for the LibDems
It could show that voters in a constituency where the LibDems are in 3rd are voting Labour , using a tactical vote to get rid of the tory
If Labour voters do similar where the Lib Dems have a better chance of defeating the tory , the conservatives could really suffer |

Mm
If the anti-Tory voters tactically voted, the Tories would never see power again.
I’d love to see an electoral pact, but Labour wouldn’t be interested as the asking price would probably be PR. |

You realise that PR would give Reform around 60 MPs on current polling? |

If you believe in democracy, then you have to accept that a functioning PR system will give seats to those who you vehemently disagree with.
If we’d had PR post 2010, UKIP would have had plenty of seats, and despite that, I suspect we’d not have left the EU (No need for Cameron to call the referendum to fend off UKIP, and not enough eurosceptics to force anything through) |

Yup. And I am fed up with that segment of political strife constantly moaning of being cancelled.
.
Let them acquire the seats.
Give them all the rope they need.
They will do the rest of the job themselves, and it won't be pretty. |

The counter argument being that the tories would not have had a 80 seat majority in 2019 |

Thank you for teaching pat a lesson…. Not that he will learn… it will be in one ear and out the other when Labour voters do exactly the same thing in conservative/lib Dem contested seats…

But it wouldn’t…
No country uses the purest version of PR, because that doesn’t take into consideration local differences
For example… do we thing that reform would get the same percentage of votes in Scotland, wales and Northern Ireland as they would in England?
Or take it down further… would reform get that percentage in certain big cities such as London, or Liverpool or Manchester.. as they may get in more rural places?
Even if they used the version of PR they use in the devolved administrations… reform would get no more than probably about a dozen mps max….. |

That said, dealing with reality rather than the 'what if', we have first past the post..... |
