"If a comedian said it in front of a few thousand people it would be acceptable. " And if a boxer punches someone in the face in front of a few thousand people, it’s acceptable. People have different jobs and are rightly held to standards that reflect those jobs. It’s a comedian’s job to tell jokes, I wouldn’t find a joke about r*pe funny but I accept that there is a market out there for comedians who make r*pe jokes. The Home Secretary is an entirely different matter.

So rather than help fix problems he'd rather stand in their way, classy guy. he still not wrong about the place being a shithole or should he have said its a beutifull place" He denied saying anything so he knew he shouldn't have said a thing. I doubt anyone would like the place where they live described in that way, beside the fact he's in a position to improve it.

"I'm not sure what funnier. The joke or the outrage from said joke. You may not have intended it so but this is what I interpreted your comment as: “I’m not sure what’s funnier, r*pe or people not thinking r*pe is ok” You can interpret it whichever way you like. It's not like whatever I say will make you see any other way. It's a fucking joke, nothing more. So you can say anything you like and it’s ok if you say it was a joke? If it is said in a humorous context, yes. You're judgements won't change my outlook in life. Ah, so it’s just you are completely lacking in empathy, that explains it." Do I? I've been told that a few times, it still won't change me, those who know me, know the real me.

"There should be a law against making jokes and offending people. Look at that nice Mr Corbyn, he never found it necessary to make jokes did he? What's JC got to do with the price of fish?! The discussion is about the words of the present Home Secretary. It's not a party political debate. Unless r*pey jokes are part of the forthcoming election manifesto for the Conservatives?!" I was pointing out that humour and socialism are uneasy bedmates.

"You can’t say anything anymore Its political correctness gone mad It's called not mocking things people have experienced... My comment about political was a joke it’s was satire. Thing with saying things online is it doesn't always come across as you intended.... That’s right. And as much as I hate the government cunts, that guys been thrown to the wolves as an agenda. I accept it was a badly timed joke. What do you make of his PMQ's mic'd comment of "it's a shithole" about Stockton-On-Tees that he initially denied until recordings. If he's been thrown to the wolves he's putting his leg in the trap tooive been to stockton on tees and he aint wrong And the topic he was replying to was why 34% of children were living in poverty in the MP's constituency. So rather than help fix problems he'd rather stand in their way, classy guy. he still not wrong about the place being a shithole or should he have said its a beutifull place He denied saying anything so he knew he shouldn't have said a thing. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over someone saying so... The way of the world today is we must find something to be outraged about, its a fucking sad state.

Should a Home Secretary (colours irrelevant) make such comments and excuse them as a joke?

"Urgh, it got moved to the politics section. That explains a lot. The OP is nothing to do with the comments being from a Conservative party member. Had a Labour home secretary made the same comments, I'd have launched the same thread!" So you say !
