So, we've heard all the stuff along the lines of how Boris admits that he was a bit slow on the uptake.

He clearly never took his fathers advice and wisdom.

I worked with his father when he was an MEP (he loosely based a character in his book The Commissioner on me).

Stanley “did a Farage” in that he never did any actual Parliamentary or Committee work, but buffooned his way around by being a jolly good chap and finding a “worthy cause” to campaign about. In Strasbourg he ignored a three-line Whip in order to give a press interview about the horrors of seal culling. The vote was concerning the restriction of Japanese car imports, somewhat more of a priority if you’re a factory worker in Luton or Longbridge!

Both father and son hugely intelligent (Boris once said he’d had the best education money could buy), but adopting the persona of a clown can only get you so far. Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe would have been released sooner if it hadn’t been for Boris’ foolishness and it wouldn’t have cost the country four hundred million to get her out. And as for his then becoming Prime Minister….

This is the same Stanley Johnson who owned a very large stake in the company commissioned to build the HS2 white elephant/ make Daddy even richer.
