The latest poll shows Labour have pulled level in voting intentions with the SNP. Surprisingly the Tories have picked up a few points over the last couple of months too.

It looks like independence will definitelybe off the table soon

Good news for Labour.

They need scotland to make a gov usually.

Scotland has been a thorn in their side for a while.

Think the dear old Scots suddenly realising independence and joining the eu isnt such a glory

It's a myth that Scotland makes or breaks a Labour government.

We would quite happily step aside and leave you Tories down South to it. Sure we're seeing the inevitable response to a strong party leader standing down . Who was going to replace her? I expect the SNP will take a hit in the next election but nothing like what Labour and the Tories are hoping for. It's a long game, I fully expect Angus Robertson to take on the leadership after the election and then the rebuild will truly begin

If I'm correct in reading you as an English Tory supporter I'm amazed you would even dream of commenting on leadership given your party's recent record in this regard. I expect the Tories will be scrabbling for another one this time next year. Are you getting your Coke from Gove?

I think the Tories should be more worried then the SNP. Loosing all those Labour seats in Scotland to the SNP makes it very difficult for Labour.

In the long run, there's an air of inevitability of the two countries diverging and taking different paths.

It's far more complicated without the unifying umbrella of Europe though, so it'll be a while from now before any independence.

However the level of fear/distain/ridicule that eminates from South of the border towards the party in Scotland that holds most support is telling.

All parties have their disaster candidates. All parties have politicians after all.

Inconsiderate name calling diminishes the argument.

That probably suits unionist minded people more than separatists, because when you look into the reasons of dissatisfaction amongst Scottish voters with the route the UK has taken, largely but not solely under Tory governance, it's actually quite hard to create arguments that would satisfy those currently dissatisfied voters.

Instead, it's easier to dismiss them, to ridicule and diminish with slurs and inconsiderate condescension.

But inconsiderate condescension will only lead to a increased desire to separate.

& Without due consideration and acquiescence to at least anacknowledgement of understandable dissatisfaction, then to my mind, the current rift won't close.

Not at all. You don't appear to have anything useful to contribute to this topic. Perhaps you should confine your fretting to scanning the coast for small boats

Nah it’s more fun triggering people who take themselves too seriously and make assumptions about others.

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer given previously..

"But inconsiderate condescension will only lead to a increased desire to separate.

& Without due consideration and acquiescence to at least an acknowledgement of understandable dissatisfaction, then to my mind, the current rift won't close."

I beg to differ. He has already complained about people making assumptions about him. So I suggest there is no evidence whatsoever to consider him either honourable or a gentleman

Lolz not complained once, couldn’t care less, just funny how upset a couple of people got because I pointed out the resemblance between a politician and a 70s child TV entertainer. They got all serious and start making assumptions. Hilarious reaction.

But you that it was a resemlance, you resorted to name calling like a wee nursery wean "

Name calling, give your head a wobble and lighten up! Oh dear I upset some SNP supporters by saying their hero looked like someone else. She does!

The SNP turned out to be every bit as corrupt and incompetent as the rest of them. Such early promise that has ended in financial and sexual disgrace.

" The SNP turned out to be every bit as corrupt and incompetent as the rest of them. Such early promise that has ended in financial and sexual disgrace. "

This

As a non voter in UK elections cos I live in a place with its own government, I observe uk politics without bias. The SNP are finished, found out to be beyond corrupt & useless. Labour are throwing away a golden opportunity by self destructing over Gaza when their opinion in opposition counts for nothing anyway. The Torys have messed up pretty much everything under Boris & Truss. Ed Davey of the Lib Dems isn't on this planet. The only remotely bright spot in all of this is Sunak at least making a half decent job of steadying the ship after the last few disastrous years & calming things down. I'd like to see him get the chance to carry on & prove he can be better than what went before. This isn't about any particular party, it's simply Starmer, Yousaf & Davey don't inspire a shred of confidence & I'd suspect all three would turn out to be disasters.

Indeed. And just to put things into perspective...I made a joke at Sturgeon’s expense, caused all manner of butt hurt from several posters. Yet right now there are babies dying due to no fuel for electricity to power incubators, human beings being decapitated by bombs and artillery, and a few weeks back innocent people shot, stabbed, r*ped, burned. And yet I do not recall much posting and outrage by the same posters? Maybe I just missed their posts?

No I fully expect a change of leader in the next couple of years. Not the only party to have issues replacing a strong leader

Well that's really the point. If the best you can post is a years old cliche about the former leader, you're not really at the cutting edge of contributing to a thread. Maybe just go for a long walk off the pier instead

Telling someone to take a long walk off a pier is not humorous and to try pass it off as such is pretty shameful.

"Talking of little humour, what do think of Matheson and his 11k data bill. I did enjoy his Hancock inspired moment in Holyrood, family man gulp. Is this another member of the SNP showing financial control issues?"

I was stunned that he thinks that lying to parliament is a reasonable thing to do to protect his children. It got even worse when he said that he was first and foremost a dad, and an MP second.

Apparently it never occurred to him to try to protect his children by saying "It was my fault, I'm sorry, I'll pay for it all". Instead he chose to claim it was all legitimate parliamentary expenses, because apparently this makes him a better dad.

A sorry excuse for a man.

Ok I’m going all in (can’t help myself...annoying, moi?)

Nicola Sturgeon is being shown around an Edinburgh hospital when one of the patients sits up in bed and exclaims:

"Fair fa' your honest sonsie face, great chieftain o' the pudden race!"

Before Nicola can respond, another patient responds: "Wee, sleekit, cowerin', timorous beastie! O what a panic's in thy breastie!"

while a third one chimes in with "Some hae meat and cannae eat, and some wad eat that want it!"

She turns a puzzled face upon her doctor and says "Is this the psychiatric ward, then?"

And he replies, "Och, no...

"It's the Burns Unit!"

while a third one chimes in with "Some hae meat and cannae eat, and some wad eat that want it!"

She turns a puzzled face upon her doctor and says "Is this the psychiatric ward, then?"

And he replies, "Och, no...

"It's the Burns Unit!""

But what about all the poor people who die in hospital? Surely it's no laughing matter? Where's your perspective?

VERY!

And they seem to miss the weirdness that we are talking politics on a swinger website with avatars showing cocks and arses, but we have to remain deadly serious!

Tbf, you're fucking annoying at times

Luckily, I can recognise I am too

I am! I know! No argument there!

But this seemed to run and run simply due to a comparison with a 70s kids entertainer.

A bit of mild humour now and then never hurt anyone. Besides, Sturgeon isn't even SNP leader anymore

Maybe I just missed their posts?"

Ive posted on all the isreal- hamas threads and started one myself, and again since you have posted it is there evidence of ppl being decapitated, and r_ped?

"Ok I’m going all in (can’t help myself...annoying, moi?)

Nicola Sturgeon is being shown around an Edinburgh hospital when one of the patients sits up in bed and exclaims:

It is a quandary but you have missed the point spectacularly.

Your joke is almost as old as you are. If you Google it you will find it variously told about the Queen, Tony Blair, Thatcher and even Heath. It's likely even older than that. Must try harder or find someone other than your Dad to tell you jokes

Rikki Fulton did a "Bad Burns" sketch in a hospital.

The poster has form and I could probably find plenty of other examples should I be bothered to look.

That one was recently so I had remembered. It really doesn't matter that it wasn't in this thread. 'Jimmy Crankie' wasn't directed at anyone here either.

"thats in your opinion, and mine is she is a repulsive vile peice of shit who is trying and hoping to stir up trouble"

You probably shouldn't lie about your own wordswhos lying?in my opinion she is a vile peice of shit,i could prob call her more but dont want banned

You lied when you said 'i never called anyone a vile peice of shit'.

Fuck me, I don't think it's supposed to be this hard. you made out it was on this thread ,i have no prob saying shes a vile peice of shit so dont need to lie

I didn't make out anything. Its not my fault if you struggle with comprehension your put downs are as bad as your wee nursery pals shite so called jokes

I would like to applaud your ability to write the Scottish accent. "

How do you write an accent ?

It looks like independence will definitelybe off the table soon "

I have no idea, if anyone commissioned the poll. The thing with polling companies, they do what they do, they don't need commissioning.

As far as Redfield and Wilton go, they're fairly accurate with polls, you should do some research rather than listen to some hack blogger

Even if experience provides inaccuracies? Strange stance but it's yours to choose.

Polling companies do not do what they do. They are businesses and conduct polls for money, no other reason. Questions are asked at someone's behest and usually with a view to furthering a point of view. Having the advantage of having seen the outcome of a poll, the person footing the bill may choose not to share the results if it doesn't suit their purposes. It's always an option to comission another one later

Polling companies carry out polls (do what they do).

Does it matter who, if anyone commissioned any particular poll?

You're free to find another poll which may disagree should you want to argue the results.

I don't think legitimacy can be argued because 'they are amatuers with no experience'.

As with most things the devil is in the detail. Those commissioning the poll also can influence the framing of the question. This can skew the response. This is why sometimes polls show different results. In general though the less established companies use a smaller polling sample so may not reflect the position as well as some of the known firms such as Mori. This doesn't necessarily negate the reported outcome but I prefer when there are several polling companies reporting the same general trend

Crazy that since June the R&W sample size has been larger than any other.

One thing that actually sticks out though, they're all trending the same way

I've expected a drop since Sturgeon stood down. It's almost inevitable. Whether it translates into the collapse many are predicting remains to be seen.

Much of the commentary from down South is only interested in Scotland as a factor in the UK parties' fortunes. It is precisely this attitude that led to the success of the SNP and will continue to fuel it. There is unlikely to be any significant Tory gains in Scotland. Labour will likely pick up support but are doing little to earn it.The real test will come with the Scottish Parliamentary elections

I've expected it since the motorhome shit show. An argument for independence is to get away from Westminster BS. Unfortunately SNP showed they are equally adept at appearing self serving.

"Question for the SNP supporter's,

do you think the current party leader has what it takes to push for another referendum?

"

The fact that the UK isn't in Europe is the biggest factor in the fall off in the likelihood of independence any time soon.

All parties have politicians after all..

But do be mindful that it is not in any English based news outlets interest to go lightly on any SNP "scandalous" behaviour, and therefore, in England, you might not be getting the full picture - instead sensationalised or OTT reporting.

A case in point is setting up a forensic tent outside Sturgeons house for 4/5 days.

Still been no charges brought following that witch-hunt about a year ago, but the case has already been tried in the court of public opinion.

Another eg is compare and contrast the 2 MPs that took train journeys whilst knowingly having COVID.

Bit of a difference in reporting, I think you'd have to agree.
