Alot of talk about a potential world war kicking off soon. Russia ukraine, israel palestine, west africas coups/revolutions (to name a few) are all happening at the same time.
Theres enough forums delving deeper into the politics so lets keep them discussions in those forums.
Question here is. If the world kicks off, where the fuck do we go to be safe?
All suggestions are welcome.
And the masterplan behind this forum post is that we all move there real quick and make it a liberalist community (imagine if you could just fuck on the street!) before the textile lovers come and ruin it! |

I’m about 15 miles from a joint US facility and about 6 miles from a very sensitive English site that took over from Bletchley park so I guess they would be high up on the target list.
I will probably run to my doggos and hug them before I turn into radioactive dust.

" I am a hillbilly/ redneck. I will be perfectly fine.I will just sit back and watch the lights thinking that it must be terrible living in a big city. My area is not a target. |

love how no ones given any thought to moving haha
i should've stated in this hypothetical plan none of the nuclear powers will actually push the button. more on the lines of countries going to war and attempting to invade each other etc etc
so not nukes but still the possibility of a missile/bomb/bullet killing you.
was thinking more on the lines of countries like the maldives as an example. seems politically pretty nuetral as theyre friends with everyone and havent really got involved in any issues (if im not mistaken). Seems like a place that may remain peaceful and best of all, plenty of good weather and beaches! |

Radioactive fallout isn't going to pay much attention to borders around the world, I'm afraid. So even if your area escapes serious damage, the wind will blow all manner of nasty stuff your way.
Then there's the complete collapse of financial / health / services / food systems / etc.
To be fair, going quick is probably more merciful than what's going to be left behind for any survivors to try and eke an existence from. Chances are, wild dogs/cats/foxes/scavenging humans will pick over my carcass in the ruins of my house.

If we are talking WWIII going nuclear then there are enough warheads to cause a worldwide nuclear winter so nowhere on Earth will be safe. Everywhere and everyone is fucked. So why worry about it. Better to have it over in a flash then survive only to slowly die of radiation sickness or starvation. |

Spot on.
Private Hudson from Aliens said it best.
"That's it, man. Game over, man. Game over!"
Another species will emerge and evolve over many millions of years.

I would advise having a dip in the Thames first but you might come out dirtier |

I've thought about the whole bunker thing and whether it'd be worth it.
- No Netflix (or very unlikely)
- No Just Eat / Deliveroo
- No Shops
- No Bars
- No Spa / Beauty Salons
- No Fet Clubs
- No Live Music or Bands
- No Museums / Places to Visit
I mean, yay for being alive I suppose, but what are you supposed to do ? Sit there and look at everyone else ?
.
To be honest, I did 2 years lockdown with Covid and managed fine, thanks to Netflix and a large home library. That was easy. But with no mental stimulation, I think being in a bunker might be worse than being vapourised.
.
I suppose it's down to how long you have to be down there for, and what's happened above when you come out ?
.
Eg, has it been rebuilt (at least to a usable standard), or are there gangs of killer irradiated mutants waiting up there ?

Why would you want to be safe, if as they say it is a nuclear war. You want to be one of the lucky ones, get frazzled in the blast radius. Get it over and done quickly, instead of constantly looking over your shoulder for the next attack. |

Exactly my thoughts!! Too much stress surviving a first strike. Double the stress if my managers survive as well, and text to ask if I'm coming to the office because we're suddenly short-staffed. |

Good point. I don't think our company has a "What to do in the event of nuclear attack policy".
.
I'm not sure if I'd be expected to get in to work. What do I do if it's not there anymore ?
.
More importantly, do I still get paid ?
.
I mean, what are the contractual clauses and who has broken what ?
.
Also where does liability lie if I attempt to get in then catch radiation poisoning ? Is that my fault or my employers ?
.
If work is hazardous, should they not provide me with a full NBC Suit ? Just wondering... |

Well the biggest threat Western societies are facing from the state within state - totally disenfranchised disengaged and feel alienated, due to their religious and personal belief or allegiance to other state..they are no longer silent protestors, they have become activists and at times ready to follow the violent path..so don’t think British street will remain safe once the full scale war starts in Middle East and other worldly powers join in…I don’t think we face direct military existential threat from the enemy outside it’s the aforementioned state that operates within state that is going to cause more harm directly by opting for violent approach and mentally by brainwashing next generation in universities |

Given the weapons available today, absolutely nowhere is safe sadly,
funnily enough had this same discussion with a work colleague the other day and after came to the extremely sad and depressing conclusion that it would probably be much better to go in the initial hit than to hide and go slow from its after effects, how morbid, depressing and sad but so unfortunately true, given the current state of affairs, I also suspect our leaders/governments will be far too busy saving their own skins to help us bottom feeders lol |

We live in the sticks in the West of Ireland so would prob be OK from the initial blast/s.
Would there be a nuclear winter afterwards though?
And would we have a mad max like scenario afterwards where the survivors fight over resources? |

Unfortunately nowhere will be safe if a full exchange happens. The areas of the world that arnt necessarily targets, will become unable to support anything due to the global nuclear winter that will result. The first to die will be the lucky ones, the last to die will be from starvation and disease. It will be long and painful |

Putin has already indicated that he would drop one of Russia's Sarmat missiles on London.
It's capacity would probably evaporate every living thing from Newcastle to Exeter.
Think of it as a nuclear cluster bomb.
A missile capable of carrying and dropping 15 nuclear warheads.
Given the small size of mainland Britain they wouldn't need to was alot of ammunition wiping us off the face of the earth.
So yeah go and hide in a log cabin in the woods it won't help.
Unless you have access to a bunker with enough provisions, fresh water and an air filtration system to give you a year underground your toast.
Then when you do emerge you'll be in the middle of a second ice age.
Complete chaos and no government to run things.
Naaa I'll go outside and take it full on when it happens.

Saw this tweet today "
Phew thank god for that,at least when we get blown to smithereens it won't be because of out lack of diversity |

My vote would be Switzerland, good track record of remaining uninvolved with every European/world conflict since napoleonic wars (baring a small civil war that lasted less than a month in 1830).
And an already quite liberal social outlook.
Seems to tick all the boxes |

The flash will be the last thing anyone's seared eyeballs will ever see.
The mushroom cloud will only be a visual treat for those who were facing the other way and not close enough to be hit by the shock wave for the next few seconds. |

I’m confident that a large scale nuclear attack will never occur - because everyone knows that retaliation will follow. The nuclear button is a suicide machine.

"How about Gran Canaria ? Can't think of any targets too close and then there's always the clubs in the basement of Cita to distract our attention "
Recipe for a slow death when there is no longer a supply chain to the islands, which must nowadays be too populated to be self sufficient.
The upside is you won't need winter heating so the slow death will not be accelerated by hypothermia! |

If it all kicks off, I hope the do nuke us and I live close enough to not know much about it happening.
Let’s face it, this country is full of people from all around the world, different countries and religions. Even if the U.K. are not directly involved, we will probably still have some kind of war going on, which depending how bad it gets could be a lot worse. Just kills us all and let’s be done with it. |
