"I can imagine an SNP mp leaving for labour.. or the Lib Dem’s…. But the Tories!!! . The last three election results simply prove how popular to Conservative party are . She has simply seen common sense and her views align with the party which gained an 80 seat majority in the last election. " Yeah she wants a slice of that cash from the oil companies for her next election campaign.

Suprised a independent has jumped to unionist, but that would have been the case with labour.

"I would be fuming if the MP I voted for changed to another party mid term , I realise that in the first past the post system they say that we vote for the local MP and not The Political Party ,, but do we really ? ... I certainly do not" So you're saying that you know what the rules are, and that you choose not to follow those rules, but that you'd be angry if someone chose to use one of the rules you don't like? "Take the example mentioned by The OP , the SNP MP could remain at Westminster as a SNP MP but vote along with the Conservative party ." She isn't an SNP MP any more. She's now a Tory MP. The SNP recommended her at the last election, they don't own her.

Labour 12,791 Con 11,961 LDem 3,670. ScotGreen 1,153 ukip 559. So the "person" the electorate voted for remains the MP for the area whereas the "Party" that won the seat now has one less representative in Parliament , The party which came 3rd with 21.2% of the vote has now "won" .a result someone like Putin would love and we would criticise him for , because the OP raised the issue of the SNP MP crossing the floor to the tories , there is a danger of this discussion becoming party political but the tories suffered the same when they won Bury South but now have a sitting Labour MP , this is equally as wrong , but once again Bury South voted for Christian Wakeford and not tory .. There is nothing people in Bury can do about this they voted tory and got Labour , , the point that the SNP do not own her is again valid but both Lisa Cameron and Christian Wakeford both "own" votes from constituents who voted , not only for another party but for another candidate ,, so yes would continue to be angry , the system is wrong and flawed

I assumed you voted the party in via it's representative. To my mind the system needs changing - if an MP switches party, there should automatically be a local election.

"According to the BBC she and her family have been forced into hiding following serious threats. I can understand the SNP and their followers being annoyed but this behaviour is crazy. " and is there any evidence of this?

"Wasn't going to get selected as an SNP candidate for the next GE. Her reasons for defecting are quite damning. " ... Her reasons are very damming and serious and require full investigation by The SNP She complains of bullying ,,,,, and has left The SNP , to hold hands with Priti Patel , Sir Gavin Williamson and Dominic Raab (good luck with that then )

I'm not familiar with these papers but judging from your response they are not the best. I am saying what various news outlets have reported so it's for them to know if the story is correct or not, I am mearly saying what they report. I also do not have evidence of the articles being false either

Only difference is we are more used to Tories being caught out like this as opposed to SNP members

"Is the area where she acts as an MP changing politically ? Was it marginally stronger SNP area, but projections show it moving to Cons ? If so, I could easily understand a career-politician making the jump. A conviction-politician less so of course. Career-politicians want to stay employed and active at all costs, I suppose." No, East Kilbride will never vote in the tories!
