Never again do I wish to see that party in power.

Yeah but I know Tory supporters who are angry at that also. We can't tar every supporter of a political party with the same brush. Else we're essentially trying to limit their freedom of speech. Just like so many did with the BLM movement because of a small minority.

Think in general calling their policies shit is fair enough, calling all their supporters scum wrong. But that's my personal opinion and the majority can disagree.

Only 44% of the population who voted actually voted Tory. So 56% voted for other parties. It's the problem with the first past the post system - winner takes all, arguably not representative.

There are other countries using this system, for instance Azerbaijan, Belarus and Myanmar (though sometimes they choose the military coup technique).

Thank you for the lesson. But it still stands that the Tory party are Britain's favourite political party at the moment. And as I see it not everyone in the same political party have similar beliefs, so to say they're all xyz seems a tad ridiculous. Though I may disagree with a political party I wouldn't call each and every member scum. As that to me is a slippery slope.

I'm going to get some kind of backlash for this but I'll admit I have never voted in an election I understand that gives me no choice in what happens and I'm fine with that because at least I can say I'm not a Tory or liberal I actually don't care for any politics

Oh that’s one reason for me hating the party not so much the voters. And that’s just one reason, I hate the Tory part for Lots of reasons.

My dislike for Tory voters isn’t that serious. I don’t think they’re scum. I don’t get on with Tory voters because every Tory voter I know has very different values to me and that’s evidenced always in their reasons for voting Tory. Or in conversations we have about race. Or about people in relative poverty. Etc.

Especially as a young Black man, with the values I have, with the experiences I’ve had, I am not going to call them all horrible or scum, but they’re not my people. That’s ok. I’m probably not theirs. So we’re not missing out.

As far as calling them scum, there are Tory politicians that are fair to be called that in my opinion for the damage they’ve done to communities. I’ve not called all Tories or Tory voters scum though.

Most people just want a better life for them, their family and the wider community. Lots of people vote for different parties.

Calling anyone scum shows a lack of education, respect and is indicative of modern politics. If you don’t agree with someone try to understand why they hold a different position from yourself and debate rather than name calling.
