"Have ITV ruined television purely for advertising money"
Are you suggesting that ITV have ever improved TV? Because it's been all about money from day one.
What exactly have they done recently that has ruined TV in general? |

For me, Sky dramatically improved sports coverage. The only thing I'm really interested in these days as its all Netflix and Prime otherwise. |

"A decent channel showing all sorts, pity it’s owned by the government "
It might be the state that owns it instead of the government. There has been calls for more state ownership recently on here and elsewhere though not sure if it extends to tv channels. I used to 've a regular for their 7pm news years ago which I always found really good |

I think C4 is generally excellent. State owned but operated as a commercial entity funded by Ad revenue.
Re ITV the model has to be based on advertising otherwise it can’t exist. Plenty of people on here like to moan about the BBC as they object to paying the licence fee.

I think Ch4 is a prefect example of advertising funding the production, over production to attract the advertising.
I'm not sure how much longer the traditional ad break every 12 mins can go on for, or showing an episode each week, Netflix have changed our viewing habits. |
