Germany is increasing defence spending by a extra 100bn€ to coincide with EUs next budget cycle 2027.
In between time there will be new Eu treaties incorporating military unification in defence further.
Rishi & Hunt have put U.K. back into EU Defence Union alignment on autopilot , Horizon includes defence R&D.
What will Starmer’s Blair 2.0 gov do?
Blair did say EU Defence Union was
“ essential “ We are in the EU defence union, they just never bothered to tell the electorate. |

Not read up on this but if the USA does start to pull back from NATO as has been suggested by some, then it makes sense for a European-centric defence approach, especially in light of Russian aggression in Ukraine. |

Just been reading that Germany is one of the NATO members that rarely meet their commitment in regards of defence spending. They were going to write it into law but have since back tracked on that. It will be nice to know what SKS has planned but like with other policies we just have to guess for now |

They signed a subsequent rrwat affirming they'd reach the 2% byn2025 I believe but I'll have to dig around. Thema long with France Italy etc.
They've all skimmed on this spending for 30 years.
About time they stepped up.

Would you like me to give you the actual figures, or do you want to concede that you lied there? |

The torys cut back on defense spending after 2009.
I'm 2012 it was at 2006 levels. As a percentage of gdp.
It has decreased until 2020 and began to grow again
Our overrall military expenditure seems in line with or above many historic levels.
I dont knkw if you're using the defense spending as % of gdp.
Or overall spending.
But i don't think you can say the tories have cut it.
There are some oddities in this that I am trying to reconcile particularly in cyber and intelligence.
As a general look
Military expenditure in 07/08 was 47.2bn in 19/20 47 5bn
In 22/23 its 55.5bn
It's easy to look at headlines and think.
Less army, less navy personnel etc etc.
Wars however are not won by number.
They're won by superior technology and firepower.
Fro. The musket, to the a bomb, to drones and to cyber attacks.
Times move on
