"There should be the ability for constituents to demand she is sacked if she is not working for them. MP salaries should be doubled BUT second/third jobs not permitted. Constituency offices should be staffed by Civil Servants and given a set budget funded centrally. MPs should be requires to have lived in their constituency for at least two years before becoming an MP and should have to have their primary home in their constituency. There should be a hotel/serviced apartments block in Westminster that MPs attending parliament should use (no hone flipping or expenses). Etc" I’d sign up for that one….claim £1 more in benefits & those fascists never stop lecturing about FRAUD ‘Public Accountability’ and they will pursue you to the ends of the Earth to recover £1 for every £200 they give away in bogus PPE contracts. For Christ sake MPs are now going to get transitional ‘wind down’ payments after the poor loves-justly-lose their seats at the next election to the tune of £17k! https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/aug/25/financial-support-double-mps-lose-seats-uk-election However, become an elected Member of Parliament and THE RULE OF LAW becomes an after thought and hinderance & is merely the wedge that keeps that revolving door between Parliament & Lobbyists and the private sector continually open. So the rise of the likes of Dorries reflects the controlled demolition of democracy & the vote itself and is the real inheritance of Thatcherism-they pried the door open & flooded the benches AND corridors of Parliament with every grifting, lying, cheating, law breaking scumbags, international vested interests and chancers like REES-MOGG all UNDER THE GUISE OF ‘ENTREPRENEURIALISM’ and ‘FREE MARKETS’ except the shit they sold off BELONGED TO US in the first place! So, the sobriquet of ‘Dorries The Dosser’ is totally justified given that not only is she continuing to take a salary for a job she’s not doing she will be getting a compensation of £17k for losing her seat for doing MORE of nothing is NOT to be endured I personally am so angry with the average thick ,gullible British voter that I am inarticulate & stuck for the words to express MY candescent rage:they piss in our faces and roll back EVERYTHING our forbears fought & died for and people do NOTHING except have riots that are about LOOTING and the value of nothing. Are there any examples of issues raised by constituents that she failed to resolve ? In fairness, she's a Tory and works for herself and the Tory party donors. I'd be happier with her doing fuck all than the usual self serving antics while ripping off the British people.
"Hasn't spoken in the HoC since June 2022 and, although she says she is working hard every day for her constituants, nobody appears to have seen or heard from her. She said that she would resign but, likely due to not receiving a peerage, she has not done so. Sunak cannot force her to stand down but he could remove the whip. She could resign after the summer recess but will she? Meanwhile her weekly chat show continues and she has written a book called "The Plot: The Political Assassination Of Boris Johnson" which is due to be published in September. Should she be forced to resign should she not do so after the recess and, should politicians be allowed to host a chat show?" The truly disturbing thing about her are her twee sentimental novels about her hard up bringing are ironically about caring & community-contradicting the Thatcherite mantra of ‘There is no such thing as society’ but the cognitively dissonant Dorries is clearly oblivious of this & couldn’t spell irony to save her life.

"How many people would you want to die while we tried to obtain ppe at a lower cost ? .The government ensured that there was never a shortage and put saving lives over cost" 1. Operation Cygnus in 2016 undertaken by the DoH identified serious weaknesses in UK preparedness to handle a pandemic. One of the key criticisms was a lack of PPE or established mechanisms and adequate supply chain to increase stock when required. 2. The Conservative Govt ignored all the recommendations including the PPE one meaning that when Covid hit the UK was massively under-prepared or able to ramp up. 3. While it was of course right to ensure an adequate supply of PPE was quickly obtained, it also presented a huge business opportunity for those with the right connections. 4. The PPE VIP lane gave companies 10 times more chance of securing a contract. Companies that had zero experience in PPE and some that had not existed mere weeks before, won a substantial portion of the contracts. All of those companies had some connection (or had been “recommended”) with Tory MPs and Peers. None were connected to other political parties. 5. Meanwhile many specialist British PPE and medical supply companies did not receive any contracts.

Should she be forced to resign should she not do so after the recess and, should politicians be allowed to host a chat show?" The fact she is on television & clearly NOT dealing with the needs & concerns of her constituents WOULD cost her this job in the real world . WHY is Parliament now a Shangri-La for the lazy, indolent & the corrupt?

"It looks like her success is self explanatory. In 2005 the majority in her seat was 8000 at the last election it was almost 25,000. Most people apart from the merchants of doom and gloom and those filled with comptempt and hatred would be proud of such a success. She remained loyal to Boris Johnson who was a true election winner . It was great to see a working class girl and nurse who has experienced poverty achieve success and who was also appointed a Cabinet minster. At least she has not supported a traitor. " Didn’t she support the prorogation of parliament? And of course let’s not forget the time she complained that Brexit left us with no MEP’s.

" The 4bn figure comes from the public accounts committee. You’re welcome.

If there was no record of PPE stock in any trust, how would the BMA know if there was or wasn't enough PPE? The government asked about stock levels and couldn't get an answer and needed to setup a single supply chain. Trusts still didn't know their numbers 4 - 5 month into the pandemic. All the governments fault that the NHS and private care homes were running out of PPE, makes me laugh, it was another example of poor management in the NHS.
"The elected government who’s leader a proven liar (not opinion, demonstrable fact)? What lies has Rishi Sunak been proven to have said?" Oh I’m sorry, the poster mentioned the 80 seat election, I thought it was obvious which proven liar I was talking about. Although if you’d like an example of Sunak’s lies, that’s easy as well. He said that NHS waiting lists were rising because of doctors strikes - ‘simple as that’ - which given the rise in strikes between 2010 and 2023, is patently not the case. He said in PMQ’s that ‘there’s been a record number of houses built in the last year’ - which was also a lie. Interestingly in that same PMQ’s he told the house that as chancellor he’d reintroduced the nurses bursary. This was also an untruth. I appreciate that when talking about recent tory MP’s telling lies it can get confusing as to exactly whom you’re referring to. I’ll try harder to be clear next time.

Etc I’d sign up for that one….claim £1 more in benefits & those fascists never stop lecturing about FRAUD ‘Public Accountability’ and they will pursue you to the ends of the Earth to recover £1 for every £200 they give away in bogus PPE contracts. Rant over. . It would be interesting to know if you would be brave enough to call the voters to whom you refer as being thick and guillible that to their face. The social security budget is massive compared to payments made to MPs . It is hardly a like for like comparison. The size of the social security clearly illustrates how much the government are doing to help the less well off. There are in excess of 500,000 cars on the mobility scheme and any tenant becoming unemployed is entitled to housing benefit. During the energy crisis those on universal credit got additional payments of up to £1200 per annum in order to help with bills . How many people would you want to die while we tried to obtain ppe at a lower cost ? .The government ensured that there was never a shortage and put saving lives over cost . You could not simply award ppe contracts to yourself or friends. You had to go through a procurement process which was administered by civil servants . Any firm found to have abused the scheme is being investigated. The government are attempting to recover £130 mi)lion from Michelle Mone . Our MPs of all parties work very hard to make Britain a better place and we should be very greatfull for their efforts Never a shortage of PPE? As far as I am aware no. Supplies ran low but never out. You never watched the news during the pandemic, Social Care was screaming out for PPE. According to Pat he speaks regularly with care workers. So I presume he must be able to provide some unsubstantiated anecdote to support his point. Either that of the Daily Mail didn’t say there was a PPE shortage so that means there wasn’t! Or, of course, Pat is a consistent wind up merchant Maybe you need to differentiate between procurement at national level and management of local supply.. If supply ran out locally you should be addressing the issue to your local hospital or health service . The government suoplied the goods , did local management always deliver .? Well as you regularly (daily) talk to care workers surely you can answer your own point? Please explain that to us as you must have some good anecdotes to support your points!. I am not the poster claiming that there was a shortage of ppe. Maybe you should address the question to them . A lot of people are very greatfull to Boris Johnson and Matt Hancock for all the support given during the Covid crisis. The BMA say there was a shortage of PPE. Do you know more than the BMA?. Have you any examples of PPE running out ? If so the local organisation concerned failed to order or source sufficient amounts. That is hardly the governments fault Ok I’ll ask again, just in case it wasn’t clear enough. Do you know more than the BMA? If there was no record of PPE stock in any trust, how would the BMA know if there was or wasn't enough PPE? The government asked about stock levels and couldn't get an answer and needed to setup a single supply chain. Trusts still didn't know their numbers 4 - 5 month into the pandemic. All the governments fault that the NHS and private care homes were running out of PPE, makes me laugh, it was another example of poor management in the NHS. I’ll ask you the same question - do you know more on the topic than the BMA? If they are saying they knew how much PPE there was inside the NHS, I think I must. I mean they’ve spoken with staff on the subject. So I can assume you have as well? What did you find? you are grabbing at straws and evidently do not know the facts about this at all. It is well documented post pandemic. Here is a sample: Of the 106 trusts which provided data to us, only one was routinely recording PPE stocks in its central stores from the beginning of March, and that was a mental health trust, so not even directly involved in the treatment of Covid-19 patients. I’ve used what I’ve read from the BMA, which you deny, and asked if you know better than they do. You tell me that you do, which seems fairly ludicrous, but this is fabs after all. Can you explain the 4bn worth of unsuitable PPE that had to be destroyed, unused? No I can't. But I can tell you that there was no records of PPE in any trust and no understanding of stock levels. Even categorising stock was not the same across the trusts, a glove in one trust and a protective cover in another. And are you prepared to accept that there’s a chance that the BMA may in fact be right on the subject? Who did the BMA gets its information from? Those vocal left wing comrades, who wouldn't know what they had because it wasn't recorded. And more importantly because the information is out there... You’re accusing the BMA and doctors of lying about PPE? Ok, I think we’re done with this convo. " I'm accusing you of not knowing about the PPE

"Just on the 4bn. Whilst wholly unacceptable to 'waste funds', it should be added the 2/3 of that was usually in sectors other than the NHS. You know, for context " Who mentioned the NHS in relation to the wasted PPE? Unsuitable purchased PPE is unsuitable purchased PPE, is it not?

Would you have preferred that people die whilst deliveries were delayed in order to implement numerous quality control checks or would you prefer to cut out bureaucracy in order to save lives .. I would prefer a government that saves lives. You have queried the quality of ppe. Have you a breakdown by supplier and type. The BMA are hardly are hardly an unbiased source of information. They look after the interests of Doctors , not the public. We voted in the government to look after our interests. That is exactly what the government did during the crisis. They put saving lives before cost. " I love the smell of hypocrisy in the morning! A poster who makes claims or throws around accusations they them refuse to support with evidence accusing someone of not providing evidence! Gotta love the Fab political forum!
