More good news though the merchants of doom and gloom on here will be bitterly disappointed.
There are 300 new jobs for technicians and test engineers JLR.
The roles will be created at a new body shop and will enable 30% more Range Rover and Range Rover Sports to be produced in future quarters , the firm said. Apart from one hundred jobs in the body shop there are also 200 jobs for technicians and test engineers at its development centres .
The firm is also profitable having made £435 million in its first quarter.
Great news for everyone apart from the merchants of doom and gloom on here who love to criticise the UK at every opportunity.
It looks like we backed a winner.
All we need to do now is bring back Lizz Truss or Boris Johnson and we will be back on the road to success.
Another UK success story is Greg's the bakers. Just look at the performance of the share price if you have any doubts .

Slight aside, as doesn’t warrant thread of it’s own, but seeing some brexiters trying to claim the June to Aug 2023 reported annual growth for UK regular pay (excluding bonuses) at 8.2% (highest annual growth rate since comparable records began in 2001) as proof that ending FoM has delivered higher wages and is therefore a Brexit benefit. Of course what they ignore is that the BoE is now using that wage growth as the stick to beat us with yet more base rate rises despite inflation reducing. So where’s the net benefit again? |

You are just trolling with posts like this. It is obvious to everyone in this country that the balance of news is more on the negative side than the positive side.
As has been said ad infinitum since Brexit by everyone with half a brain that there are always going to be news stories that buck the general trajectory of travel.
Personally, I don’t give a flying fuck about JLR and their two hundred jobs. I do care though about the millions of people who are impacted by the seemingly never ending hits of unnecessary and unacceptable cost increases. First it was energy, then it was inflation, now it is inflation and mortgage costs. These are not the only way people are being fleeced and every single day, more and more people are being driven to in-work poverty.
PS - you are dreaming if you think that the Conservatives will get another term. People have had enough. You can actually feel it now. |

Higher borrowing costs means it will hit CAPEX. Companies have three choices. 1. Borrow less. 2. Charge customers more (inflation). 3. Reduce their wage bill (job cuts of salary reduction). The BoE wants this hence increasing the base rate. |

Not sure about the political links but business wise it's very good news for the workers, their families and supporting businesses. The fact you mention a body shop leads me to assume this is separate to the recently announced battery plant which I think is also JLR |

Looks like great news, though I think the Liz and Boris thing is a bit overly optimistic. Who knows what will happen at GE. What we do know, inflation is dropping due to rate hikes and cheaper prices for domestic energy, coupled with wage growth are having an impact.
Again great news, but doesn’t excuse the years of fear and uncertainty that many people have had to go through. |

I do hope the build quality improves. I owned a 66 plate Range Rover sport with the 1.9 diesel ingenium
engine . Timing chain went at 34 thousand miles. Was lucky as extended warranty on vehicle. Had big dispute with JLR. First did not tell me about extended warranty. All info is online. Plus it is known fault on these engines. Major lawsuit going on in USA. Car repaired and dealership due to their mess up not updating online details . Purchased car back from me. No more JLR for me. |

Amazes me how few companies understand the power of word of mouth. There’s a marketing maxim along the lines of “a happy customer may tell five people but an unhappy customer will tell everyone”. JLR should have sucked that up without dispute at 34k miles! |

I do hear a lot about JLR vehicles having many vehicle problems.
But I guess why many purchase them is the prestige factor, they’ve done a great job in tapping into that market.

Yes 34 k is low for metal timing chain. As vehicle was automatic . Took a lot of work to get towed in. Lucky I was not far from my local dealership. About half a mile from where I broke down. Dealership actually said there were seven other JLR vehicles of same type waiting to be checked , repaired. All had broken timing chains. Before mine could be checked  . |

The 2019 election result tended to confirm that . If we take into account the result of the referendum 52 % of the population had similar opinions to mine .
In addition I have the opportunity to work / mix with a wide cross section of society on a day to day basis . For the last thirty years I have assisted someone who is housebound . I speak to care workers on a daily basis and laise with hospital staff . Other sectors of society that I have regular contact with are younger ( mainly Europeans ) . The feedback / interaction I have with them is crucial.
Whilst opinions expressed on this site may be intersting , many are far removed from life in the real world .
The government have put in place numerous means of helping the less well off in society. There are currently in excess of 500,000 vehicles on the mobility scheme provided free of charge to those with limited mobility . ( vehicles supplied are fully insured and come with a free of charge maintenance package ) . Anyone unemployed and qualifying for Universal Credit will have their rent paid for plus council tax . Various payments were made by the government last year to assist with the cost of living crisis ( £901 was paid in three stages ) . If you are on Universal Credit , you qualify for other items such as replacement central heating boilers , loft insulation and double glazing . Reduced cost broadband is also available for those claiming certain benefits . the government have made extensive efforts to help the less well off and the disabled .
One of the problems on this forum ( not referring to you ) appears to be that some posters are so well off than they are unable to appreciate the extensive help given by the government to the poor . I have noticed a few posters on here who are extremely anxious to let others know of their own personal wealth and still blame the government for not assisting the poor . |

Have you ever been offered voluntary redundancy pay? It basically means if enough people don’t go… voluntary isn’t voluntary anymore and the money you would get for leaving isn’t nearly as much…

Climate change is another good example. The number of people who believe human activity isn't contributing towards an acceleration of the increase of mean global temperature, is completely unrelated to what is actually happening. |

. Last time I checked the first £30,000 of redundancy pay is tax free . You have the chance to bank tax free cash and obtain another job. I cannot see many people complaining about that. Generally after being made redundant people obtain alternative job and are better off.
I have been made redundant twice . Not many people except those with a sense of entitlement are going to complain about banking a years tax free cash. (,I appreciate not all packages are quite as generous )
I have also monitored redundancy packages at two different organisations . Some of the compensation paid was eye watering. I did not see too many people complaining. Sadly for me I did not qualify for redundancy but could see that the packages offered were very generous . |

Voluntary redundancy is offered, to allow people who would like to leave the opportunity to leave, giving those who wish to stay a better chance of actually staying.
The redundancy terms of your contract do not change if you choose to stay and you are then made redundant.
There is a tax free element as mentioned, up to 30k. |
