Is this how protesting should be done?

Blockading a private road and only affecting the business they are demonstrating against.

Could other protestors learn a thing or 2 from these guys?

They could indeed.

Protests of this nature will only get more common, as the impasse over asylum seekers in hotels drags on.

I have 4 hotels within 10 miles of me that are now shut, having been requisitioned for asylum seekers.

Staff have been made redundant, and as these hotels hosted wedding receptions and conferences, the other venues have ramped their prices up considerably to take advantage of demand.

Short term was acceptable but this is dragging on for years now.

were they requistikned against the hotel owners will?

Or have the hotel owners decided to cash in on a good offer?

I wonder how many also own other venues.

I don't think any have been requisitioned against will.

The problem we have is Clearsprings are offering 'too good to turn down' money to these hotels.

Even good hotels run at about 75% occupancy. With changing beds aboy 3 times a week.

Then you get offered a flat rate for one year at a guess at 5% extra. And you need less staff as beds are all done once a week. It's safer money and more profitable but it will finish of UK holidays for good as attractions will close events will stop etc.

But where do you house these people.

I said in another post give them £2k on a card and a ni number and let them sort them self out. Hut no we give them a nice room and hot food so more come. I have been to slums in India if it was like that they would not want to get in that boat in the first place but we offer so much its worth the risk

I must say, I'm a little shocked that the 'protestor supporters' haven't mucked in with their good luck wishes.

Let's try to keep this topic on track, it's about the protestors actions, not the asylum seekers..

I don't know of anyone not doing a uk holiday because of hotels nky being unavailable.

Cheap flights to sun and air bnb are killing seaside hotels more than housing asylum seekers.

You’ve missed out business travellers who make up a good percentage of weekday hotel guests… I travel a lot and a few hotels I used regularly are now housing asylum seekers. I found it verse strange that one hotel that was rather popular on the corporate circuit became a shell of a hotel overnight, the offer must have been to good to miss

I think I know what you’re saying here, but the spelling was so appalling that I’d appreciate you confirming it before I respond further.

I would imagine lots of nearby businesses are suffering to with the lack of holiday makers in the local attractions and gift shops ect

People protesting on private land will run the risk of getting an injunction against them.

People protesting on public land will run the risk of alienating other members of the public.

It's a fine line. Depends on the cause I suppose.

Stradley Park made 95 people redundant, to house 241 asylum seekers....in a luxury spa hotel.!

I understand their anger.
