You can also say the DM have used a real story to fan the flames of another issue. Irrc all the lawyers here were Indian, but this has been linked to boat people as evidence these are all bogus. |

of course there are. You have to be very green to believe no one is playing the system. Equally you have to be very jaded to think everyone is. This is true across so many stories.

I didn’t need to because you and others did. I have not questioned the story. I just dislike the source. If that video can be scraped from their website and placed on a neutral site that doesn’t generate income for DM then I will. However, not sure why anyone would be surprised there dodgy lawyers milking the system? |

There used to be a website that displayed the bollocks from the DM for people interested in how they misinform their readership, the idea was exactly as you mentioned, so there was no ad revenue generated for them. |

. Maybe you need to assess the type of people with whom you mix if you think decent people should attack the Daily Mail . It is an exceptionally successfull newspaper with a circulation in excess of .8 million. That is the second highest of any newspaper. You have previously stated that you read all newspapers every day. If that is the case open today's newspaper and give an example of one article for which they could be sued .
It promoteds a multi cultural society and has numerous writers from ethnic backgrounds. The Home Secretary even has articles published in it.
I am not Jewish but some of their Jewish writers would potentially find your remarks offensive as would Priti Patel and Sue Braverman.
Like most people I prefer to take a more objective approach to life and assess a newspaper before commenting. You have failed to provide any evidence to support your comments .
Just yesterday both the Prime Minister and Sue Braverman thanked the Daily Mail for their work.
Mistakes happen on occasions and you would expect a newspaper with a high circulation figure to have more litigation cases against it than one with a smaller circulation. It is a bit obvious.
I buy the newspaper at at least three different locations in the UK. Despite their ethnic background to date none of them have refused to sell it to me because they consider it to be racist.
It it was as bad as you suggest they would be telling me to buy the Guaardian or Daily Mirror.
One of the news agents concerned has the exact opposite of my political opinions . He has never once refused to sell it to me or called the newspaper racist. |

Your rather boring circulation figure is misleading as it is an average that includes the weekend paper. Weekday circulation is c.600k.

Life has moved on and we also need to recognise the success of the Daily Mail website. This site reaches 24 million readers per month in the the UK ( around half the on line audience) . This equates to a daily online audience of around four million in the UK.
The Daily Mail has two million readers per day Monday to Friday and 1.3 million on Saturday.

It is the most sued “news”paper in the UK. This piece of shit and the family that owns it supported Mosley and his Black Shirts and called on the British Govt to not allow Jewish refugees escaping the Nazis into the UK.
One regular poster on here will likely start banging on about circulation figures but conveniently ignore demographics that show the majority of the readership to be older and female because the DM have good supplements on cooking, gardening, and travel aimed squarely at that audience. For them the “news” is of secondary interest and not the driver for purchase.
I know some of you have advocated only discussing the data not the source but I do not think that is always possible, especially when the source has a track record of lying. Releatedly.. Maybe you need to assess the type of people with whom you mix if you think decent people should attack the Daily Mail . It is an exceptionally successfull newspaper with a circulation in excess of .8 million. That is the second highest of any newspaper. You have previously stated that you read all newspapers every day. If that is the case open today's newspaper and give an example of one article for which they could be sued .
It promoteds a multi cultural society and has numerous writers from ethnic backgrounds. The Home Secretary even has articles published in it.
I am not Jewish but some of their Jewish writers would potentially find your remarks offensive as would Priti Patel and Sue Braverman.
Like most people I prefer to take a more objective approach to life and assess a newspaper before commenting. You have failed to provide any evidence to support your comments .
Just yesterday both the Prime Minister and Sue Braverman thanked the Daily Mail for their work.
Mistakes happen on occasions and you would expect a newspaper with a high circulation figure to have more litigation cases against it than one with a smaller circulation. It is a bit obvious.
I buy the newspaper at at least three different locations in the UK. Despite their ethnic background to date none of them have refused to sell it to me because they consider it to be racist.
It it was as bad as you suggest they would be telling me to buy the Guaardian or Daily Mirror.
One of the news agents concerned has the exact opposite of my political opinions . He has never once refused to sell it to me or called the newspaper racist.

Your rather boring circulation figure is misleading as it is an average that includes the weekend paper. Weekday circulation is c.600k.
I doubt many newsagents would refuse to sell you any paper! Although try finding The Sun in Liverpool (so I may be wrong). You do like to spin a weird yarn as evidence of something Pat!. The circulation figure may be boring to you but to other more rational people it is a true measure of success You appear to have lowered the circulation figures without giving any valid reason. I will use the conventionally accepted circulation figures which are easily comparable with other newspapers. In June circulation was 748,937 copies broken down between 678,179 paid single copies and 70768 subscriptions.
Life has moved on and we also need to recognise the success of the Daily Mail website. This site reaches 24 million readers per month in the the UK ( around half the on line audience) . This equates to a daily online audience of around four million in the UK.
The Daily Mail has two million readers per day Monday to Friday and 1.3 million on Saturday.
It readers are 54 % female and 46 % male. Some 83 % are homeowners and 69 % own their homes outright.
Some 69 % of its readers are ABC1 ( upper and middle class ) and some 366, 000 readers have savings of more than £100,000.
In light of the above information it is hardly appropriate to sneer at people for reading it. "

Saying that the 2 million a day reader figure is self declared and unaudited as everyone who works in advertising knows.
What DMGT have done very well online is exploit affiliate marketing to drive click-throughs. They aggressively place adverts for articles with attention grabbing headlines that do not clearly signpost it is the Mail Online (or an affiliate site with redirects). In addition, as with their printed media, they have a lot of “lifestyle content” on things like cooking, travel, gardening, fashion etc. This drives traffic that is not looking for “news” but enables them to charge higher advertising rates. It is all very clever.
Again though you put words in my mouth. Where have I “sneered at people reading it”? I have merely given my opinion on the Faily Heil itself. People are free to read whatever they want. |
