On radio 4 I heard stats saying ch!ld sexual @buse had increased over 100% since 2017.

This is ofcourse a good thing that when we allowed self reporting online, and made it easier to categorise such things and report it. People felt they could do it more anonymously and without stigma and judgement.

At the same time. Indont beleive suddenly in 2017 we had double the amount of perverts.

This has also happened in other areas of reporting such as racial abuse. Which can now be reported from twitter etc.

I dont suddenly believe racism triple in 2/3 years.

I get tired when these figures are reported and it does a disservice to either party when they quote these figures knowing full well reporting methods change.

I would love it if when new reporting methods are introduced. Any bbc articles or reports stated that reporting had changed.

I feel the public would become much more informed and aware data manipulation.

I haven't heard what you listened to, but the BBC online article was clear enough that it was about identifying cases better rather than a spike in abuse.

(whether such crimes are correlated to deterioration in economic conditions is something that could be worth checking tho)

No idea about your racism point. Is that also in the news ?
