"Supposedly Gina Miller has had her Monzo account closed because they don't allow political party accounts.
Maybe she lied on her application or maybe bankers are fucking idiots..."
She didn't declare it as a party account.
Naughty lady. Misleading Monzo like that.
Good of monzo to follow their AML and FC procedures and close it down. |

That is going to be so inconvenient for the dozens of Free and Fair party members who will have to alter their direct debits. |

We don't know that for sure. The bank said "the account wasn't originally categorised as a political party"
Was it Gina at fault or the bank?
I'll tell you what's quite strange about this one. The bank initially refused to give her a reason for the closure but we're happy to give the BBC the reason. What the fuck is that all about? |

I'm going out on a limb here amd saying Gina lied based on when I worked in this field.
It's pretty easy to identify donations to political parties and such. This was ongoing. So my guess is she asked people to not make light of it in references.
It's also pretty difficult to not register it correctly. As in several checking and authorising steps would need to be missed.

But as above. I've no idea how Gina has opened a wrong account with monzo.
You open them up by yourself. Or by the phone.
You provide the details of your business if you want a business account.
You can't open political accounts. It tells you this.
So I don't really know how monzo I a phone discussion would have got this wrong without Gina not telling them its for political donations.

"I'm warming to Monzo bank.
To be fair.
Monzo and revolut seem so far ahead of the traditional banks k the curve its frightening.
I am waiting for the listing on revolut to buy shares.
"
Add Starling to that list too |

There must be banks somewhere that allow political parties. They often receive donations into those sort of accounts so of course you can't just have any old business or trust account. |

Maybe but the bank are also seemingly admitting fault in allowing the account to be opened in the first place. Not been a good week for banks |

It's an online one.
It depends on what Miller declared.
They say they don't accept political party accounts. I assume she opened it without checking. The they saw tbe donations roll in and stopped it. |
