So the youngest MP elected in 350 years is not standing at the next election citing long hours, pressure of social media and the toxic environment of Westminster. Oh poor her that she has to work long hours!
She was elected in 2022 and will no doubt get good money for standing down.
I’m not sure what she expected with her outspoken views and aggressive tone. She is my MP but has never actually responded correctly to anything I’ve asked her regarding a parliamentary debate. Instead she directed me to the Scottish Government.
She must’ve realised that she was entering an ‘old boys club’ with outdated views and traditions.
Anyone else with any opinions on their MP?

"Pretty sure that she was elected in 2015, so she's had 8 years of Westminster life.
Can't comment on her competency but wish her well in whatever she does next."

Depending on the subject you wrote to her about, it may be a devolved issue…. SNP mps talk about a lot of issues in the Westminster parliament but don’t necessarily vote on certain matters |

Nothing wrong in hoping our institution's would move into the 21st century ìnstead of being stuck in the 19th. |

She has been a credit to the people in Scotland. Straight talking and with a Scottish sense of what’s right and what’s wrong. With a Scottish ability to look those ineffective MPs in Westminster straight in the eye and call them out.
I hope her intention is to stand as an MSP.
We have sent our brightest and strongest people to Westminster to fight for Scotland.
After the legal view that England and Westminister have the right to deny us independence we should keep our main politicians in Holyrood.
We can strategically send Scottish people to Westminster with the purpose of just annoying them. Take every penny Westminster gives and feed it back into Scottish constituencies. Block as many seats as we can from Tory or Labour occupation.
Labour lied to Scotland - never forgiven.
Tory’s - I detest them.

"The SNP are in a mess they are bailing out before the police investigations go deeper plus she likes beak "
Yip they are a mess, but so are the Tory’s and their level of corruption is off the scales.
Labour are completely in effectual. Boxed in by the media and the stigmata of antisemitism. In Scotland Labour cannot be trusted.
SNP need stronger and better educated politicians to deliver.
The Scottish people are caught between a rock and a hard place - stay with English rule or strike out on our own.

One of those socialists that never really worked a real job. Didn't she get elected straight out of university? Just jumped onto the gravy train then hopped off.
Though to be fair to her. She is correct MPs are criminal underpaid. But can use expenses to top that up. Which makes a mockery of the tax system.

You’ve just described a good chunk of Tory MP’s, including recent PM’s and cabinet members. Are they socialists too? Why the need to add that as some sort of pejorative term? |

She actually blamed a toxic environment not long hours. She also said unsociable hours but this was not the main reason.
Read her actual words properly, and think about them without applying confirmation bias, it’s not hard to do.
If somethings so toxic and impossible to change you often have no choice but to leave.
The Boris Johnson’s of this world with fight to the death to preserve that environment and people like her can’t change that

It is a rumour that has been kicking about for ages but totally without any evidence. She flickered brightly at first but got lost in the big pool that is Westminster. I expect she will run in the next but one Holyrood election. |

I'm suspicious of her excuses. She has been an MP for eight years and very recently was promoted to Stephen Flynn's number 2 at Westminster. A number of recent polls show the SNP could lose many seats to Labour, with Black's being one of them. I think she's leaving before she loses her seat. |

Not sure how you're meant to represent and understand the workers when you haven't been one.

All MPs have a team of people who deal with the constituents issues and incoming mail, they respond on the MPs behalf. It is highly unlikely she was even aware of your issue/comments.
In our opinion, you shouldn't be allowed to be an MP, if you actually want to be one |

Following that thinking, does a neurosurgeon have to have had a brain tumour or a heart transplant surgeon have had heart failure before they should be able to operate? |

It was specifically a debate in Westminster to discuss pelvic mesh. I wanted her to give support to the Lib Dem MP who was raising it at the time. Twice she directed me to Holyrood where mesh had already been banned.
When your MP doesn’t understand the difference then to unwind we what she’s actually doing! Pelvic mesh has been in the national press over the last year or so. |
