I know, we left the EU so what has this got to do with us but...wait...
Paris and France are facing riots due to the shooting of a joyrider in Paris.
There is of course more to this story and both sides have a tale - who to believe?
Are the riots justified?
Shops raided?
Cars burnt out?
Schools and public buildings vandalised?
Is this due to the easy approach in France to those who want to settle here?
Is the UK at risk of a similar thing happening should immigrants, migrants etc. be allowed to come into the country and not integrate and take our British values?
If I were to move to an Arab state, I would be expected to abide by their laws and way of life.
I couldn't imagine an Arab state allowing a Catholic church to be built in the centre of their cities!
(Perhaps these do exist - correct me if I am wrong).
I firmly believe that someone moving to another country whether to escape persecution, to move for a better life or because of an emotional tie, should adapt and embrace the ways of their chosen country.
Am I wrong in that opinion?
I must be clear that I have nothing against migration but I don't believe in a new Arab dawn! |

First of all, what exactly has this got to do with the EU?
I agree with you that should you move to any particular country, then you should integrate with local traditions, laws etc.
I'm not against other faiths having places of worship built, they should still be entitled to practice religion regardless of the 'majority religion of a country'
Lastly, yes, I do believe we could see riots here but I don't believe it will be migrants who get involved in them. |

The riots in France are shaping up in the same way riots have happened here and US.
Unrest over an issue is hijacked by a mob intent on creating as much damage to property as they can and stealing anything they can put their hands on.

Not justified any of it bit harsh shooting the lad but if asked to stop well take your chance. as for intermingling should definitely get to no local traditions don't get me on religion it should all be banned at least I wouldn't allow other Faith churches. |

Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, Indonesia, Lebanon among others all have churches. There’s nearly a dozen churches in Dubai |

Are Middle Eastern migrants less welcome than those from other regions?

The kid being shot well if the old bill are pointing a gun at you probably not a good idea to try and drive off, as for the riots nothing to do with the shooting everything to do with grabbing some new trainers and a flatscreen, |

Which US rioting are you referring to… just interested
I am not surprised what happened in Paris has kicked it off in the southern french cities in particular as they have large french ex colonial populations who feel very aggrieved…
Marseille is just a different animal as they have loads of criminals gangs and really really don’t like the police… |

LA riots 2020 George Floyd protests.
Beverly Hills, it started off as a peaceful protest but soon turned into full blown looting and destruction on Rodeo Drive. Like the riots in France it was hijacked. |

You could say the same about the London riots as well. |

"Had a WhatsApp from one of my staff today he’s out at his holiday home and worried about his trip back across France as he usually skirts Paris. The alternate routes are also quite bad as well.
"
Glad we are not doing the car run through France this year. We would probably be in Cap d'Agde now.
We got caught up in the yellow vest protests a few years ago but they were (to us anyway) quite a friendly bunch.
This seems a lot more sinister.
What was going through the cops head when he pulled the trigger is beyond me but it has been the spark to (literally) a huge flame.
Protest by all means but this is just criminal thuggery.
Macron needs to get a grip on this and fast, before it spirals completely out of control. |

Agree with the points raised, Macron is deeply unpopular after the raising of the pension age..
When you've got rioters looting gun a shop and police elsewhere being shot it's on a knife edge.. |

No matter what race, religion, colour or language spoken, when a cop points a gun at you then the rules are simple, don't move unless asked to do so.
Similar policy in India I believe, strangely no riots there. Took some getting used to, but now very few run from the police.
Last year in France there were 13 motorists shot dead by the police so not uncommon it seems. |

This goes alot deeper than this incident. French police are racist like ours, and still think they are running the colonies
French President Emmanuel Macron has trivialized France’s colonial past in Africa in which more than two million people were killed as a "grave mistake" while the country looks for new ways to maintain its dominance over the continent.
“Too often, France is perceived as taking a supremacy stance and to dress itself in the rags of colonialism, which has been a grave mistake, a serious fault of the Republic,” |

Some of these responses! Fuck me, if a police officer tells you to stop, you stop, end of. If you make the choice not to then suffer the consequence. As for A.C.A.B (which I'm sure is tattooed on your knuckles) they are if your a knob that's for sure. Regardless of which country you live. |

You could equally say shoot a teenager through the head for a motoring offence and face the consequences. And now they are eh? |

So a rumour started circulating on Twitter that an 80yr old Catholic Priest was stripped, beaten and was fighting for his life. Except it turned out it wasn’t true. His Diocese confirmed he was r@bbed of phone and wallet but was fine and it was unrelated to the riots.
However, the racists pounced in it with multiple posts calling for a new crusade and holy war against muslims etc.
Gully Foyle was one of those who retweeted this fake news which makes me seriously question his motivations and further undermines his credibility. |

The issue here is we don't even know what's true, I seen a 'Dutch farmer' getting arrested in their protests but turns out it wasn't a Dutch farmer at all.
I've no doubt what's happening in France is real but with social media today, its hard to see the true story. |

But the person who shot already faced the consequences. The problem is why are random people who have nothing to do with it having their lives destroyed? |

The Diocese have issued a statement. The fake news is inciting racial/religious conflict. People need to be more careful what they post or repost/retweet. The only conclusion you can come to by Gully Foyle retweeting is that he too wants to fan that fire. Otherwise why retweet? |

Yes I was watching Sky news last night and they interviewed the owner of what looked like a shoe shop. Couldn't be sure as all the stock had been looted.
They went back the following night and looted his stock room as well. |

It's orchestrated and some goods will be taken to order sadly, watched a gang ransack a hi fi shop in the London riots and it was pre planned given they used a couple of angle grinders to take out the locks in the shutters ..
Some of the terminology being used is apt, like scavenger locusts there's an element in many societies that will hijack any reason to profit themselves and possibly ruin the hard earned livelihoods of others..
Burning down health centres and libraries, cunts pure and simple.. |

I am about 20 miles from Marseille at the moment on holiday.
Absolutely no issues here and life goes on as normal however; areas of Marseille tell a different story.
These riots and rioters, as has been said earlier, are people who simply want to cause problems. They look for any excuse and, at the moment, they have one. |

I agree, the toll on victims of looting is indefensible. I meant the authorities are facing the consequences of heavy-handed policing. There has to be proportionality in meting-out justice - this was a motoring stop!! |

None. If they really had a problem with police, they would be fighting the police. Instead, they are destroying the properties of random people and looting. Just a bunch of coward theives
Yes I was watching Sky news last night and they interviewed the owner of what looked like a shoe shop. Couldn't be sure as all the stock had been looted.
They went back the following night and looted his stock room as well.
Then you open the internet to see idiots supporting these rioters. Some even justify it by saying, 'But these people have insurance anyway.' Like insurance comes for free. I guess once people are brainwashed by ideologies, they do all kind of mental gymnastics to support even the vilest acts of the groups they support.

According to the BBC it's gone further than causing a few problems and looting. Apparently they rammed a car to a mayor's house and set it alight to set the house alight. The mayor's wife and children had to escape and in doing so we're injured when they were attacked with fireworks. Worrying times when people think such actions are a ok |

He was known to the police and refused to do as requested, since the terror attacks in France the French police have had the authority to use weapons if required traffic stops and checkpoints, and as such some 22 predominantly male migrants in their twenty's have been shot. In my experience of them daily in this country there inability to cooperate does not surprise me. Just this very evening I was called a "Dirty mother fucker" by a migrant for doing my job and had a bottle thrown at me.
And Yet no rioting or condemnation from Islamic countries when several children are stabbed in a French park...........
EU and UK leaders time to wake up and stop bending over to accommodate those that are never going to integrate in western European society!
If you wish to me call me racist crack on, but remember my views are based on daily contact............are yours? |

Coincidentally I watched Anthony Bourdain this weekend and his show had a segment on how the community came together to stop the opportunistic shoppers. |

Firstly I do not condone or excuse the shooting but, having read a bit more about it, there are some serious questions that need answering.
The victim was "known to police" why and/or for what? Petty crime? Dr*gs? Terror watch list?
Why was a known 17 year old from an allegedly "deprived" area driving a Mercedes on Polish number plates?
Why was the "traffic stop" carried out by cops from (I don't know the correct French name) what I would call the heavy mob? Those guys were not your regular Gendarmes. I think they wanted to see a bit more than just his driving licence.
What were the exact circumstances that led to the shot being fired? At the moment we only have the passengers version of events.
I've watched the footage of the car moving forward just before the shot was fired.
According to the passenger, the car was automatic and one of the cops hit the driver causing his foot to slip off the brake. I drive an automatic and if I take my foot off the brake the car will creep forward. This car was not creeping, there was a foot on the gas.
It does seem that the cops over reacted and, as I posted earlier, I've no idea what their thoughts were but there are a hell of a lot of questions.
Let's ask them and get a balanced idea of what happened before everyone starts shouting racist. |

I don't condone or excuse the looting and destructions caused by rioters and opportunists. However rarely anyone ever asks why is there so much frustration, anger and tension that it results in those massives riots - not just the actual one in France but also past ones in the USA and in the UK? And as long as the roots causing those outbreaks are not dealt with there will be unrest outburst now and in the future.

Protests are usually peaceful to begin with and then hijacked by criminals, youth and chancers.
The looting and destruction is replicated all over the world by the same types of people. People who see an opportunity to cause damage and steal amongst vast numbers of people making the risk of being caught very low.
The rioting and protesting are separate things linked only through opportunism to capitalise on the emotion of a tragic event.

Essentially during the LA riots the Police set up on Rodeo Drive and wouldnt or couldn’t protect the Korean community.
So some of the community got hold of some guns and took to the rooftops to protect their livelihoods and area.
They developed into a bit of a folk hero type thing known for their aesthetic. |

I don't know why that particular unit was involved, but I can say why the stop happened. The vehicle had been reported as being driven at speed and erratically, in a manner that endangered the safety of pedestrians. Whether the report was true or not, I can't say, but there was indeed such a report. |

So, the reports I have seen say the driver who was killed was 17.
As far as I am aware, the minimum legal age to hold a car driving license in France is 18.
If the above are true, it is another case of natural selection. As per the scrotes in Cardiff last month. |

He was known to the police, had no driving licence and had been stopped and arrested before for stealing cars and driving illegally.
Because he was under age, he got off lightly.
He was young but not innocent.
He was being taken advantage by people who should know better to do their bidding.
He or his Family could not afford to rent that mercedes - he was seen speeding in the car and driving down a bus lane.
The police were correct to stop him but the shot should never have been fired.
These people are victims when something goes wrong but flaunt the law.
Some areas of Paris, Marseille and other large cities are ghettos where these people (who are primarily of Arab descent) run drugs and have their own laws.
If the police go in to try and clean things up then they are called out, if they don't then they are also wrong.
I don't have the answer.
These people say that they want to be treated equally but they do not act like the test of us.
I wouldn't dare go into one of those areas for fear of being ***** ( word not allowed) or murdered - they are different and do not want to be French apart from in name only and to gain the benefits that they are entitled to.
What can we do with these people (as France may be the topic however; other countries including the UK have similar problems)? |

These people are (in majority) French and probably second or third generation.
The riots over the pension reforms was about the pension reforms which affected the majority of working people directly. These riots are about the shooting of a 17 year old. |

I hope you don't mean....., running about in cowardly packs smashing up shops, thieving goods, burning cars, attempting murder, causing the death of emergency service staff.......??
All this whilst filming on a mobile 'phone, possibly to show all your 'friends' just how brave you were at the time........
Surely.... not..??

Apparently destroying other people's properties for which they toiled hard for their life is called spirit/revolution these days
I wonder how these people will feel if their own houses and cars are burnt down like this. Looks more like Schadenfreude rather than love for revolution to me. It's one of the reasons why I believe in 2A.
More guns. What could possibly go wrong? Nothing on my property until you start looting and burning. Then there will be issues. The Gadsden flag out front and the no trespassing signs are a indicator that you should move along.
A good guy with a gun will stop a bad guy with a gun eh? If only that were true.
Not all the time, but I would rather have the means to defend myself, family and property with the full support of the courts and police than the punishment you will receive if you dare fight back over here.
Your right to self defence is protected in the U.K - including the use of a weapon if for example someone breaks into your home
Your right to 'reasonable force' is protected in the UK. Go one step too far, in the heat of the moment and you'll find yourself locked up."
You can use an object or weapon to defend yourself. What you can’t do is continue to batter them when they’re no longer a threat |

Until someone decides you used more force than the person attacking you! Or if you do use a weapon it should be no harder than warm butter and should not scare the person attacking you.... |

Your getting confused, referencing that French workers do take direct action (which is another argument as to whether it's valid to do so) and the current lawlessness which has no validity whatsoever in relation to what many of those acting like complete scum will say is their 'reason'is totally bizarre and wrong.. |

The riots? Control, observe (using cctv etc) arrest where possible ,if not, arrest at a later date, all those breaking the law should be punished accordingly. |

You mean that you can fill the forums with stories of armed people that didn't experience a riot.
Those that are against guns will refuse to accept that the riot was stopped, and will instead say that it was just gun nuts claiming credit for nothing happening. |

They can't comprehend what a deterrent is. They are perfectly happy just letting rioting and looting to happen. I will take my deterrent over their feelings any day |

There’s endless data supporting gun control, and the tropes about ‘good guys with guns’ don’t have data to back them up.
The answer to riots, or anything else, is not more guns. |

"I wish the peasants of this disunited kingdom showed half the spirit of the French.
********************************
What.....?
I hope you don't mean....., running about in cowardly packs smashing up shops, thieving goods, burning cars, attempting murder, causing the death of emergency service staff.......??
All this whilst filming on a mobile 'phone, possibly to show all your 'friends' just how brave you were at the time........
Surely.... not..??
Eva
Apparently destroying other people's properties for which they toiled hard for their life is called spirit/revolution these days
I wonder how these people will feel if their own houses and cars are burnt down like this. Looks more like Schadenfreude rather than love for revolution to me. It's one of the reasons why I believe in 2A.
More guns. What could possibly go wrong? Nothing on my property until you start looting and burning. Then there will be issues. The Gadsden flag out front and the no trespassing signs are a indicator that you should move along.
A good guy with a gun will stop a bad guy with a gun eh? If only that were true. plenty of instances you are too naive to accept those facts I have castle doctrine.
These types remind me of the real tree hugging hippies that believe they are in tune with nature and wild animals.
Only to find out the feelings were all inside their own head as the wild animal takes its fist bite..... All a bit too late at that point. The funny thing is firearm sales are at a all time high because of the riots and political unrest. Yet let's ban guns. People want that protection in case of Asshats like in France.
More guns, more people get murdered

Talk about missing the point!
If people feel vulnerable or want to protect themselves they can.
I support that, you would too if you needed too.
But never mind you and the others sitting behind their keyboards 5000 + miles away makes you all perfect candidates to dictate how people need to think and look after each other in situations you know little about.

Those that are against guns will refuse to accept that the riot was stopped, and will instead say that it was just gun nuts claiming credit for nothing happening.
There’s endless data supporting gun control, and the tropes about ‘good guys with guns’ don’t have data to back them up.
The answer to riots, or anything else, is not more guns. it is if the riot is on my doorstep. The answer is deterrence. Words mean nothing at that point at that point you either bow and be a victim or stand your ground. I don't bow
If guns were actually a deterrent, the USA wouldn’t have so many shootings.
Ignore the person who lives it That's my point Law abiding citizens with firearms bad. The riots they cheer. Insanity at it's finest.
I might have misinterpreted your posts, are you saying that only ‘good , law abiding ‘ people would be armed? I thought anyone in the US had the right to bare arms ? Why should I give up my first again ? If you are a felon you can't own one. But as you can see they don't care. Just like rioters. You see how laws work . They don't...
Ah, I get what you mean, if everyone was a responsible gun owner I guess that would make sense , unfortunately because there are so many guns in the US, doesn’t that make it very easy for a criminal to obtain one ? They are already in circulation. What laws are going to stop that again ? Fentanyl is outlawed yet more people die from that than firearms. How do laws work again? I'll keep mine.
We have very few guns in the UK, getting one is very difficult "
It’s not at all. Unless you have criminal convictions.
Only difficulty about it was the backlog of applications with my local police force.

"Some of these responses! Fuck me, if a police officer tells you to stop, you stop, end of. If you make the choice not to then suffer the consequence. As for A.C.A.B (which I'm sure is tattooed on your knuckles) they are if your a knob that's for sure. Regardless of which country you live.
Never lived a day in my shoes then…..
Can I ask you a question? How many times in your life have you been “stopped and searched” … just curious?"
Without doubt I've never walked on your shoes and I know exactly your point. I have been stopped and searched, mostly when I was younger, driving a car I didn't look like I could afford. Do I know what you've been through? No not for one second do I know but I can imagine and I understand your frustrations. My post was in reference to other sectors that were predominantly white working class in the 70s and 80s that had the tattoos. I don't believe for a single second having read your posts on these forums you would partake in anything resembling the thugish behaviour we are refering to here. |

No different except in other people's views. So I have no empathy twords profiling others I am a standard to look at for public safety. I agree with that assumption. |

Meanwhile, back in France..
The riots have stopped, the facial recognition cameras have been analysed, the DNA and fingerprints run through the computer and the knocks on doors have started. Lots of little angels in tears, not so fearless when they haven't got the rest of the gang around them. Some good penalties being handed out. |
