I read an article about it in the independent, why the reason liz truss resigned, it was because the lettuce was better than her.
I dont know where they got the lettuce from, it was jess phillips who said it, do you know what they mean by that? I find it to be fun |

During Truss' premiership, a UK 'newspaper' (I think it was the Daily Star), bought a lettuce and put a picture of it on their front page asking the question "which will be thrown out first, this lettuce, or Liz Truss?". It became quite a talking point in the media. |

"The lettuce has cost taxpayers £115,000 +rpi PDCA annually for the rest of her life.
Somewhere between £6-8M, not bad for seven weeks ‘work’. "
I would vote for anyone proposing Prime Ministers pensions should be in proportion to the number of years they held office like the rest of us. |

What are PM's who take us into foreign wars based on lies worth? PM's who are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands?
On your suggestion Blair should get a pretty good pension. |

I agree. Blair totally destroyed what might otherwise have been a pretty good legacy. Do you think we should offset good and bad? How do we decide what is classed as good and bad? Have a read of this list...

There is no doubt Tony Blair done a lot of good, more than any other in my personal remembrance.
However, in the end he turned out like the rest of them. In power for too long and thought he was untouchable.
Kier Starmer has the opportunity to gain a majority like Blair did, I hope he steps up to the plate and delivers some real benefits. I personally can't see it right now with his attitude to flip flopping but he's our best shot.
I know I regularly say 'if this is better, I don't want it' but even though I don't want it, I can accept he may be our best option atm. |

You present a list as if the items on it are objectively positive. But they are not, they are subjective.
There is also an awful lot of "free stuff", which of course isn't free. It has to be paid for through increased taxes, increased borrowing, or increased money printing. Hence we are where we are.
Blair was not only a war criminal who caused enormous damage to the UKs reputation abroad, his lax approach to immigration was the direct cause of Brexit, a point that Remainers fail to acknowledge, because they are too busy blaming everyone else for Brexit.
I have no doubt that Blair was influential, more so than anyone since Margaret Thatcher. We still have a Blairite government now. A Starmer government would also be a Blairite government. We have had Continuity Blair since 1997 and I suspect that will continue until the collapse of the next government, at which point we are going to see a major shift in ideology as the country nears financial collapse, Net Zero unravels, immigration runs at 1m a year as I am guessing it will under Labour, and we have another deeper popular uprising.

I would say that list is objectively positive (there are some negatives on there too). The economy (and therefore ability to pay for the “free stuff”) did very well too b/w 97-07. If it hadn’t been for the financial crisis it would likely have continued. Not claiming that is all down to Blair/New Labour as the world economy was in a better state generally. |

Living standards in the U.K have declined since 2010. Homelessness has soared beyond imagination.
New labour weren’t perfect, but they were the best years overall of the past 40-some years. |

I was a supporter of 97 Blair. Not so of 02 Blair. He had charisma though, purpose and drive. I don’t get that from Starmer. I had high hopes after Corbyn but...meh! Flip flop does seem right. I want politicians who passionately believe in their policies rather than simply wanting to be popular. Possibly after the turmoil of the last few years we do just need a steady eddie? It would be nice to see an exponential decrease in govt scandal and have them just getting on with the job of running the country on our behalf rather than their own’ |

The problem with the way Bliar fucked the UK is that it has taken about 20 years for the malign effects of his policies to come home to roost. You’ll really feel it wheh you come to retire and your pension is worth a fraction of what it should be because of his/Brown’s raids on your pension pots, not to mention his “reforms” of the NHS that have been an expensive disatser for General Practice. |
