The western governments and media is strangely quiet on the treatment of Imran Khan in Pakistan.
A democratically elected prime minister overthrown in a coup in all but name. Had an assassination attempt on him, had a military style abduction while attending court and been called a Jewish agent by rival politicians calling him to publicly hanged and the supreme Court judges who granted him bail to be replaced.
It all seems to have gone downhill for him since he refused to openly criticise Russia last year and accused the CIA of being behind the assassination attempt on him.
He wanted to follow India and adopt a independent foreign policy. He should have known if your country is dependent on the US and your military are in its pocket, you just cannot do this. |

"Isn't India totally dependent on Russia? For defence and energy at least. That's why they dare not condemn Russia's war in Ukraine."
They don't condemn openly Russia because historically the US along with China and Pakistan armed and supported Pakistan in wars against India. With only the old Soviet Union helping India.
Despite Pakistan for most of its history being a military dictatorship and a supporter and trainer of terrorist organisations who attack Afghanistan and India. The west continued to use it has a proxy tool. Now because it suits the US now, they want India to condemn Russia and forget the historical adversarial role the US has played.
Like the Indian foreign minister has said " Europe has a mind set. Europe problems are the world's problems. But the world problems aren't Europes problems. "

India is dependant on nobody for defence. A population of 1.4 billion means a lot of cannon fodder and they have a few nuclear weapons of their own. |
