Don't vote Conservative.

Think back of the lies and cockups over covid and how people were misled. Tories deserve a kicking at the ballot box.

No shit eh! But the public has a short memory and all it takes is a silly remark by a labour mo to skew BBC into blowing it out of proportions.

I don't follow politics. But what I'd like to know is everyone on here is against the Conservative party (I'm not for them) but how come they still keep getting into power

Swinger voters are brighter than swing voters.

Because social media/internet forums aren't very representative of the electorate.

Not everyone (even on here) is against them though. Just a lot of people, and those that are tend to be very vocal about it.

My dad taught me that general politics isn't something that should be discussed, it is very personal. Specific issues, absolutely. But voting has always been a personal thing in our house and we don't talk about it.

Genuinely, though, I do wish that politics threads went into the politics forum and stayed there. I dont like how vicious and oftentimes unduly personal people get over it.

Well, as bad as it sounds, there's really no alternative if the truth be known? Not into politics either or into the Conservative party, but just look at the opposition parties, you've got Labour with Sir Kier 'Mr Hindsight' Starmer at the helm of a party that always seems to have ongoing internal problems and infighting over something, the Libdems don't know what they want, and the Greens would have us all eating grass and living in caves!

The Tories deserve a good kicking at the local elections, but unfortunately the requirement to have photo id with you in order to vote will put a lot of people off, and another feather in the Conservative's cap is that they have, and always will have, the true blue core support no matter what scandals rock the party or what stunt the prime minister pulls, look at the Bojo partygate carry on amongst other calamities that he's muddled through, yet the hard core support will still be there, mostly from the more affluent and wealthy that the Tories seem to do pretty well at looking after? Time will tell, yes they'll probably lose seats, but that is normally a quick fix punishment, it's the general election that determines our destiny for another four or five years?

Perfectly possible. FAI had a huge vote in Spain 1930s and formes a coalition government with CNT.

You should say the majority were utterly misled into voting for Brexit.

Is this a steer for the locals? How much sway did local councils have on government direction during the pandemic?

Is that your only reason to not vote conservative? How do you imagine another party would have coped / managed with the pandemic?

I can't bring myself to vote Labour on account of the absolute mess Sadiq Khan is making running London.

It's only the Tory councils who are pushing back against ULEZ so I kinda feel that my hands are tied.

This is part of the problem. We should absolutely be discussing politics, and teaching it from primary age onwards. What we have in the UK is the footballification of important issues - where people vote according to what 'team' they're been indoctrinated to support, and defend them at all costs.

"People vote. The majority wins. Everyone else loses their minds. "

I don't think a party in the UK has won the majority of votes (i.e more than 50%) since the 1950's.
