I, like I am sure millions of others who voted Remain, wish that Brexit would work and would be a success so that the constant and relentless stream of negative stories would disappear from the news and we could all go about enjoying life again without being constantly reminded of the divisions and arguments created by Brexit.

What I think might help Brexit to work, would be if Brexit supporters would accept when things are going wrong and they are connected to Brexit - at least accept and admit it, instead of continuing to try to prop up even the very worst excesses and/or consequences because you feel you have to stay loyal to the cause.

A bit of honesty, a bit of pragmatism and a bit of realism - all would help the country overall to adjust to the new way of life.

When everyone in the world can see the elephant in the room and you keep pointing your finger elsewhere, it just deepens the frustrations across the divide.

It's OK for you to admit that Brexit is not working, the overwhelming majority of people in the UK, Europe and probably the world can see that it isn't. That said, we all do now accept that we are where we are now, but as a country, we can't fix the problems that are being created by Brexit if we keep pretending that there aren't any.

Right now the country is stuck in some weird limbo where our politicians are still pretending that brexit was a good idea for Britain. How are we supposed to move forward and start trying to limit the damage it's doing without an honest and realistic view of the situation?

I don't agree that the "British way" is to ignore what's going on. That's what the government would like us to do for sure. Lots of people are engaged and paying attention, we need even more people to do so.

Let's see shall we....

Why don't you tell us three things about Brexit that are failing the nation. Or maybe just three things that you are aware of that are going wrong because of Brexit.

There's plenty going wrong because Brexit is a factor. A FACTOR.

Your post just blamed Brexit for pretty much everything, that's a huge part of the divide you speak of. There's quite a few on here (myself included) that can see Brexit is a factor on certain things, but there's also plenty (yourself included IMO) who want to solely blame Brexit, keeping that divide nice and wide.

Brexit is a shitshow.

Brexit has not and will not deliver the sunlit uplands that were promised.

Brexit has exacerbated and compounded the problem for the UK to adequately respond to exogenous events such as the Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

Brexit isn’t to blame for everything but it has made the hill to recovery far harder to climb.

But we are stuck with it.

It is the turd that will not flush.

So we need to find a way to make things work.

To make the best of the situation.

We need to get out of this fugue state of mind that seems to inhibit anyone from ever admitting to anything that could be seen as painting Brexit in a bad light as that might potentially be construed as an admission of making a mistake.

It is what it is. We are worse off. We are likely to be worse off for some time. We now need to do stuff to make that time as short as possible...

...and meanwhile the disaster capitalists are laughing all the way to their tax haven bank in the sunshine.

Brexit is the issue, when I first went to the E.U in the 80's I was required to buy a kind of passport for 12 pounds which lasts for 12 months, a little after a deal was struck to enable free movement.

Now I am required to give my biological information including eye scans, WTF this is 1984 stuff, do people realise that they are giving their freedoms away while others can freely go where they wish without all the bull we brits now have to face.

If this is what you expected then you now have your wish, but many did not want this, many of us wish to be free what ever freedom looks like now.

Blaming everything on Brexit and holding onto the idea that it is the root cause of all our problems is the issue in my opinion.

I can see that leaving the EU has had a negative impact on the economy and society, however some of the challenges we have today are simply not Brexit related, but I guess the impact of Brexit might mean those challenges could be harder to deal with.

We have different opinions on Brexit and that is unlikely to change in our lifetime, the focus needs to swing from those differences to the common goal of working together towards achieving a country that can become prosperous, and only then will this subject start to fade in our memories.

What about the opposite of this, the people who refuse to acknowledge the impacts of Brexit?

This is contributing to the ridiculous political situation we find ourselves in at the moment where our PMs have to pretend brexit was a good idea for Britain, for fear of losing popularity among the electorate. This is hampering our ability to move forward and start to deal with the problems that have been caused by Brexit.

We do need to move forward, but pretending brexit was a good idea isn't helping. Besides, dividing the population was one of the secondary objectives of brexit. The government are unlikely to do anything apart from drive the wedge deeper. We need a realistic and honest view of brexit. It will be painful for some people.

Hear what you are saying and do not disagree.

My issue is the realisation of yet again being required to give my data and now my biological data so I can travel.

I wasn't informed of this I knew nothing about this till the other thread on this issue made me go do some research.

What the actual hell will they want my dick size next, how many partners I had, as well as tax status, if I do not return in 90 days then what, flogged in the streets.

what gets to me is the excuse to remove my freedoms.

Lemmings are what lemmings is, being lead blindly off a cliff, pulling me with them no matter how hard I dig my heals in I am going off that cliff also.

Yes this is a sh3t show.

If all it takes to ratify and appease your view is for an admission that Brexit was shit, please take this as formal acceptance that it was, you are right it was shit.

Can we now concentrate on what we do next?

I know that is a little tongue in cheek, but nobody has said Brexit was great, because Brexit wasn't, it was a car crash. However Brexit has finished and the process of building a wealthy independent UK is now in play.

I know that is a little tongue in cheek, but nobody has said Brexit was great, because Brexit wasn't, it was a car crash. However Brexit has finished and the process of building a wealthy independent UK is now in play.

Yes you get my point though.

We're not building a wealthy independent UK. That's the point. We're still in brexit unicorn land. "

The reality was always going to be where we are now.

We leave the EU, we knew we would have a much worse deal with the EU on leaving, so that has happened.

We knew there would be a need for trade agreements, they're underway.

I'm not surprised by where we are, I would be surprised if anyone thought we would suddenly be on the up after leaving the EU bloc, it is going to take time to stabilise and even longer to improve.

"Blaming everything on Brexit and holding onto the idea that it is the root cause of all our problems is the issue in my opinion.

Do you actually need the Government to come out and tell you it's shit?

Or do we need them just to get on with trying to fix some broken parts (NI for starters)?

We need them to start addressing the issues. Stopping pretending it was a good idea would be a good place to start. "

Haven't we already started to address the issues?

Who's 'pretending' it was a good idea? Surely an idea is an idea, its the implementation of any idea that makes it good or bad.

You might understand that, but the majority of leave voters did think exactly that because this is what the leave campaigns promised. People who voted leave have changed their tune lately to either 'it might come good in 20/30/40/50 years'. (Or the classic, "it's the fault of remoaners").

Seems like we collectively as a nation have learned absolutely nothing from the entire debacle.

Not really, parliament are still pretending it was a good idea. What they should be doing is a full impact assessment, then start to scope out the options for how to mitigate against all the problems we're facing.

Should we try to rejoin. Impacts, risks, benefits. How would we do this.

Should we join another trading block. Impacts, risks, benefits. How would we do this.

Should we go it alone on WTO rules. Impacts, risks, benefits. How would we do this.

Etc etc.

No, some ideas are simply bad. IE shooting yourself in the foot. IE brexit.

You do realise it's not as simple as just fixing the problems. We are in a world where everything our/any government does is subject to some form of cooperation.

We know they're working with the EU on the NI protocol. We know they've been doing work on the CPTPP. We know they're working with France on small boats.

It's all good and well just saying they're 'pretending it's a good idea' but it looks to me that you're all in on that without looking at what they are actually doing.

Fair enough, they might be working on stuff in secret. Can't imagine why.

Brexit was never about providing any benefits or opportunities to the UK or British people. So not sure why they would suddenly be looking at it behind the scenes.

I maintain that what we need is a government which can be open and honest about the impact of brexit before any meaningful change can happen. However I recognise that's a futile wish as it's never going to happen.

I think a major problem is that for many leaving the EU was an 'emotional' choice, bendy bananas, two world wars and one world cup and all that (to paraphrase) but it was sold as a 'practical' choice, better access to other markets, cheaper regulations, no downsides etc.

If people had been told beforehand that the cost of their emotions would have been x,y,z then perhaps they would have voted differently. Either way, it won't end well for us as a population to not be able to have a genuine open conversation.

The second Iraq war was similar to this, Blair wanted to get rid of Saddam Hussein for 'emotional'reasons (he was a bad man) but wasn't brave enough to make them so went down the 'practical'route (45 minute WMD's) . Possibly ushering in a shift change in politics unfortunately.

I agree, the effect of leaving and providing that information wasn’t given nearly as robustly as it should have been.

The most powerful tool the leave campaign had was the years of planning that had already happened. It was ahead of the remain campaign with the people they had onboard and the strategy it had defined over the years.

Remain were dismissive of the leave threat and here we are.

Looks like the blue passport means bugger all

I know you feel strongly about the use of your data and what you need submit now post Brexit.

HAha is it that obvious.

This is one of the better Brexit threads as you wish to look forward which is fair enough.

So looking forward is to first to be on the same page, which means biting the bullet and admitting the way things are, should we look towards how Brexit has affected business and how they trade, and how trade with the E.U could be improved maybe.

"Blaming everything on Brexit and holding onto the idea that it is the root cause of all our problems is the issue in my opinion.

Looks like the blue passport means bugger all

I know you feel strongly about the use of your data and what you need submit now post Brexit.

I think it goes a step back from there but in line to support your thinking around how to do better trade with the EU.

I take a rather simplistic view of the country when it comes to generating wealth. If it is compared to a local shop we can begin to see what we have in the shop window to encourage people to look, to be interested in what we have to offer. Right now I’m not sure we have enough product for the window, we have finance but that is not enough, we have tech and creatives but not nearly enough.

Would it be a prudent exercise for the government to do an inventory to start to understand what the world needs, and invest inwards to kick start our economy?

I know this analogy is playground stuff, but it doesn’t always need to be rocket science, if we are to be successful we need to trade goods and services the world need at a price the world want to pay.

What do we need to put in the shop window?

We have already had biometric passports for years. This is how we use the automatic booths.

What he is talking about is the new biometric entry requirements for citizens of non-EU states. Eye scanning and fingerprinting to be precise. EU citizens will not have to do this when re-entering the EU or transiting within the EU.

Regardless of it being the law, it is still being forced not only on me but all of us, my argument is I was not made aware regardless of who is to blame, this has been brought in under the radar my rights are being eroded are you happy with that because it includes you as well as me.

In fact this will be a global issue I haven't looked into other countries but if one can do this others will follow there is no one speaking up for us who has influence.

To be fair, the United States has been doing this for years and the EU is modelling its new ETIAS system on the American ESTA visa waiver programme. The U.K. is also talking about doing a similar thing at some point in the future.

don't the UK use it for visas ? It doesn't negate your point per se, but gives you a way of challenging it locally.

We have different opinions on Brexit and that is unlikely to change in our lifetime, the focus needs to swing from those differences to the common goal of working together towards achieving a country that can become prosperous, and only then will this subject start to fade in our memories.

Erm. Hate to break it to you here. You were supplying all this to the e.u regardless. As youw ere getting a biometric passport forced on you.

This was e.u law

We have already had biometric passports for years. This is how we use the automatic booths.

What he is talking about is the new biometric entry requirements for citizens of non-EU states. Eye scanning and fingerprinting to be precise. EU citizens will not have to do this when re-entering the EU or transiting within the EU.

You had to provide that data to tbe e.u any way. You're complaining that the data you already supplied is being verified.

You probably don't even remember giving them the finger print on a holiday at some point 10 or more years ago.. But you did your e.u passport has it unless your Irish or Danish and they will be joining it soon

I can say my fingerprint or biometric details are on no data base 100%.

If you are happy to give yours having committed no offence, for supporting your country, paying your taxes and being a good citizen then go ahead, but please do not drag me with you as I have no wish to provide these things just to travel in a world I was freely born into."

Have you been a UK citizen since 2010 a d held a uk passport all that time?

If so.

Your figner prints are in your passports.

I can guarantee you 100%

Regardless of it being the law, it is still being forced not only on me but all of us, my argument is I was not made aware regardless of who is to blame, this has been brought in under the radar my rights are being eroded are you happy with that because it includes you as well as me.

You are welcome to take your passport to the passport office and have it checked.

I am sorry, but the fact is if you're a uk citizen and have renewed or been given a new uk passport since 2010. You have absolutely positively 100% been given a biometric passport that has the data on you said you didn't want on, and this was the result of e.u law.

I am sorry. But this is just factual.

Nothing to do with your skin colour.

But your reply.

You said you didn't submit the biometric data.

The only way this is possible is you are not a British citizen.

All British citizens when new are issued a new uk passport( biometric) and any one who has renewed their passport since 2010 will have a biometric one.

Please don't race bate. I was going off you're replies. You said you have never submitted the data. So ergo. You either a rent a British citizen, or you have never renewed your passport since 2010

"I, like I am sure millions of others who voted Remain, wish that Brexit would work and would be a success so that the constant and relentless stream of negative stories would disappear from the news and we could all go about enjoying life again without being constantly reminded of the divisions and arguments created by Brexit.

*****************************

And what good will that do....??!!

Too many folks parping on about a situation that happened years back....., just get on with if...!!!

It's the British way.

*********************

Excuse me, did I actually say that the British way is to "ignore what's going on...."???

That is certainly NOT the British way.

If you don't know what I meant then, if I were you, I'd have a jolly good think about it before telling me and everyone else on here what YOU assume I meant.

OK...???"

The queuing itself isn't the issue, we've all done it before and will do again. The big deal is that a claim was made that, essentially, leaving the EU would mean that everything would carry on as normal, when clearly a) that wasn't possible and b) is being evidenced now. As a society we can't make objective decisions about what we want if there isn't an a degree of candour underlying claims.

Genuinely, that's your rationale for voting? Please tell me you've never moaned about how shit Britain is on that basis?

Fair. I'll double check then as the e.u website says all passports held under e.u were to be biometric with fingerprints. But I was unaware uk had an opt out because it would reduce the validity of our passports for other nations.the e.u website only mentioned Ireland and Denmark.

I think numerous reasons have been given for the referendum result going the way it did and I've no wish to go into them here. I was making a point about engagement more widely, namely, if you vote for something because it pisses off lefties, remoaners, benefit scroungers whatever, rather than on the practical merits of the policy then I'm not sure you should be complaining too much if things don't turn out well because ultimately you are voting against someone rather than for something.

oh know queuing at pasdport control the horror, i meen you go to most places outside of europe and you need your passport stamped whats the big deal,i must say if id known how much it would piss people off id have broke the habit of a life time and actually gone out and voted lol

"How sh*t Britain is......."??????!!!!!!

Christ, I've read some things on this forum, but........!!

Think you may be missing my point. If someone doesn't vote or votes simply to annoy other people then I think it's perhaps a little bit inappropriate for such people to complain about the state of the country.

Generalism alert, it seems that a lot of people who suggest that policy x is good because it upsets people a also seem to complain about the state we're in.

I have for news you. The leave vote won for the very reason of people saying 'I'll show these 'remainers' that no one will tell me what I can and can't do'

I don't see any of those who voted for that reason moaning."

Do you think they knew how bad Brexit would be for the UK? If so I can see why they wouldn't complain. They fucked us all over.

I would suspect that they believed the "project fear" label that was applied to the real life consequences of leaving the EU.

I think numerous reasons have been given for the referendum result going the way it did and I've no wish to go into them here. I was making a point about engagement more widely, namely, if you vote for something because it pisses off lefties, remoaners, benefit scroungers whatever, rather than on the practical merits of the policy then I'm not sure you should be complaining too much if things don't turn out well because ultimately you are voting against someone rather than for something."

Is there anyone on here moaning about something that they voted for?

I've seen plenty say they voted and now regret it but the people that voted to 'piss of the lefties' are still laughing.

I was reading the e.u website about implementation since 2010. No mention of the uk opt out.

Happy to admit it when I am wrong. Because I'm not a child "

If the value that poster attaches to his vote is that it pisses people off, sure knock yourself out, but don't complain about how bad things are if the principle that illuminates how the poster votes is the upset it causes to others.

Okay, will rephrase. The leave campaigns and supporting media labelled the real life consequences of brexit as "project fear". There were some other claims of course.

I'm suggesting that the people who voted to fuck us all over probably didn't realise that "project fear" was actually a bullshit label applied to make it look like "there is no downside to brexit, only a considerable upside".

Of course, I could be wrong and they could have just wanted to make the country poorer to piss off people they don't like.

You want to change the conversation to the nature of "project fear"?

The real life impacts of leaving the EU which were labelled as "project fear" actually happened yes.

Some examples labelled as "project fear".

"If the UK voted to leave the EU, the resulting economic shock would put pressure on the value of the pound"

"Losing our full access to the EUs single market would make exporting too Europe harder and increase costs"

Etc etc etc.

As a society we can't make objective decisions about what we want if there isn't an a degree of candour underlying claims.

Genuinely, that's your rationale for voting? Please tell me you've never moaned about how shit Britain is on that basis?

"How sh*t Britain is......."??????!!!!!!

Christ, I've read some things on this forum, but........!!

Think you may be missing my point. If someone doesn't vote or votes simply to annoy other people then I think it's perhaps a little bit inappropriate for such people to complain about the state of the country.

Generalism alert, it seems that a lot of people who suggest that policy x is good because it upsets people a also seem to complain about the state we're in.

I have for news you. The leave vote won for the very reason of people saying 'I'll show these 'remainers' that no one will tell me what I can and can't do'

I don't see any of those who voted for that reason moaning.

Is there anyone on here moaning about something that they voted for?

I've seen plenty say they voted and now regret it but the people that voted to 'piss of the lefties' are still laughing.

Again, I was making a point about the principle. A poster said (paraphrase) he wished he had voted given how pissed of it has made people (I'm assuming the poster means voting leave to upset people queuing at Dover you're welcome to analyse it differently) .

If the value that poster attaches to his vote is that it pisses people off, sure knock yourself out, but don't complain about how bad things are if the principle that illuminates how the poster votes is the upset it causes to others.

I know what you're saying but he isn't complaining so I really don't see your point.

I didn't say he had, so, no, I don't think you do know what I'm saying.

You said all you had off the back of his comment

I still don't see anyone complaining having voted for something 'to piss off others', they're all laughing."

You should read the Express, Mail and Sun more then. They don't do a deal of laughing these days . Broken Britain and all that. They wanted to take back control, to send a message that their readers couldn't be pushed around by metropolitan elites etc. So they pushed to leave. A fair few of their readers will have had significantly reduced personal circumstances as a result. Do you think they are laughing because they got to piss off the BBC/Guardian etc (paraphrase).

"Hey. I'll hold my hands up when wrong.

I was reading the e.u website about implementation since 2010. No mention of the uk opt out.

Happy to admit it when I am wrong. Because I'm not a child

Good on you for admitting you were wrong.

For those interested...

“A nine month warning has been given to anyone with a UK passport as they could be required to have fingerprints scanned when travelling to or returning from Europe. From November 2023, tourists returning from Europe will no longer have their passports stamped.

Since Brexit, tourists from the UK have needed their passport stamp when entering or exiting the Schengen area to prove they have not stayed outside of their visa requirements, but this process is becoming digitised with tourists instead using an automated system that will digitally register non-EU visitors.”"

I can be an adult and admit it. I've no problem doing that. I was reading the e.u website. That was wrong. Which is worrying. Clicking through to the legal text clarified.

It would be good if we can alla dmit when we get stuff wrong

Do you think they knew how bad Brexit would be for the UK? If so I can see why they wouldn't complain. They fucked us all over.

I would suspect that they believed the "project fear" label that was applied to the real life consequences of leaving the EU.

There were plenty of claims in 'Project Fear' that have not materialised. There's also plenty that have materialised.

That's the thing though, throw enough shit at the wall and some of it will stick. Not according to remainers, they claim that 'Project Fear' is now 'Project Reality'.

So is Project Fear now Project Reality or did some of the claims come true?

You want to change the conversation to the nature of "project fear"?

The real life impacts of leaving the EU which were labelled as "project fear" actually happened yes.

Some examples labelled as "project fear".

"If the UK voted to leave the EU, the resulting economic shock would put pressure on the value of the pound"

"Losing our full access to the EUs single market would make exporting too Europe harder and increase costs"

Etc etc etc.

I want to change the conversation? You're the one who brought in Project Fear.

Of course you can label examples that came true, I already said some did.

I can also show you examples of things that haven't come true."

Isn't the issue though that at the outset we were told that none of them would come to fruition?

What do you think the reasoning is why John Redwood was not trying to encourage people to go on UK holidays prior to and during the referendum?

Yes that is part of the issue.

Leave said none of them would happen.

Remain said all of them would happen.

The reality is somewhere in the middle, any rational person should know that there's always 3 sides to an argument.

I believe that what people care about is what affects them in their everyday lives, namely, the money in their pocket. Brexit has not made people poorer in their everyday lives.

************************

I can also show you examples of things that haven't come true.

I was using "project fear" as part of the point I was making, in response to something you said.

Of course you'll find something. But what's that got to do with the point I was making?

Se my response to Belle, they intertwine

Indeed.

Anyway, I maintain that people who voted leave to piss people off, probably didn't really believe that brexit would be as bad as it is.

But of course. I could be wrong.

I'd disagree with you.

I believe that what people care about is what affects them in their everyday lives, namely, the money in their pocket. Brexit has not made people poorer in their everyday lives.

Unless you blame Brexit for amenity costs."

I would say that this is entirely false. Brexit has directly contributed to the cost of living crisis, inflation, job losses, businesses closing etc.

So if those people voted knowingly for this, just to piss people off. I think that's worse than they just didn't realise.

The queuing itself isn't the issue, we've all done it before and will do again. That's perhaps a very niche way of looking at a) Brexit and b) poorer.

The government and civil society has expended an incredible resource into Brexit, this could have been expended elsewhere. Weaknesses in supply chain infrastructure has meant costs have risen, being outside a trading block means that selling some goods can be harder for some manufacturers. The economy has suffered more than other G7 countries so taxable revenue is less hence governments have less to spend of public sector pay settlements for instance.

I believe there have been obvious job losses because of Brexit but I think you have a point that for many people the impact may not be apparent, but this is ultimately sophistry, because whilst they may not actually be earning less because of Brexit they are earning less than they should have been without it. It's like Health Ministers trumping highest ever NHS spending, it's a meaningless stat of its not adjusted.

Cost of living, increased food prices as an example.

Yeah let's ignore the queues at Dover... New normal and all that

oh know queuing at pasdport control the horror, i meen you go to most places outside of europe and you need your passport stamped whats the big deal,i must say if id known how much it would piss people off id have broke the habit of a life time and actually gone out and voted lol

************************

Unless you blame Brexit for amenity costs.

I would say that this is entirely false. Brexit has directly contributed to the cost of living crisis, inflation, job losses, businesses closing etc.

So if those people voted knowingly for this, just to piss people off. I think that's worse than they just didn't realise.

Out of curiosity. Which job losses?

Which businesses closing?

Are we experiencing it more than other coutnries? Post corona?

Cost of living? The same question.

I can't list all the job losses. How am I supposed to know that.

Here's an example, TESC. Closed down. Jobs lost.

No other countries experienced job losses due to brexit that I know of.

Cost of living, increased food prices as an example.

We've now veering further and further from the point to where you guys are questioning the nature of reality.

I think I'll leave you to it.

"

But other countries employment data is no where near as strong as the uk?

Would it be wrong of me to assume that we should be posting worse employment rates than out e.u neighbours.as in...we should have seen a drop vs them being stationary or improving?/ this isn't the case.

Increased food prices. Germanys foot price inflation is running at 22% much higher than the uk

"I, like I am sure millions of others who voted Remain, wish that Brexit would work and would be a success so that the constant and relentless stream of negative stories would disappear from the news and we could all go about enjoying life again without being constantly reminded of the divisions and arguments created by Brexit.

If this is what you expected then you now have your wish, but many did not want this, many of us wish to be free what ever freedom looks like now."

What like going in and out of America, India, oh the rest of the world that is not EU all of the world want you full ID whe you enter.

"Blaming everything on Brexit and holding onto the idea that it is the root cause of all our problems is the issue in my opinion.

Yes you get my point though.

We're not building a wealthy independent UK. That's the point. We're still in brexit unicorn land.

The reality was always going to be where we are now.

We leave the EU, we knew we would have a much worse deal with the EU on leaving, so that has happened.

We knew there would be a need for trade agreements, they're underway.

I'm not surprised by where we are, I would be surprised if anyone thought we would suddenly be on the up after leaving the EU bloc, it is going to take time to stabilise and even longer to improve."

You say worse deal my daily life has not changed. I get up go to work come home relax go to bed.

Personally Brexit hs had no change to my life.

Do we think if we remained we would get retirement at 62 the same as thee French ?

That said, we all do now accept that we are where we are now, but as a country, we can't fix the problems that are being created by Brexit if we keep pretending that there aren't any.

What like going in and out of America, India, oh the rest of the world that is not EU all of the world want you full ID whe you enter."

Yes my passport details at the moment the US want more information which is why I haven't been there, ive been to India before they wanted tom dick and harry, and I said before that I know whats coming.

I may as well have had a covid passport then, as its coming but in a different name, there is truly no escape the only way out is to stay inside these imaginary lines.

its not life as I knew it, but some sort of life.

"Blaming everything on Brexit and holding onto the idea that it is the root cause of all our problems is the issue in my opinion.

Looks like the blue passport means bugger all

Erm. Hate to break it to you here. You were supplying all this to the e.u regardless. As youw ere getting a biometric passport forced on you.

This was e.u law

Regardless of it being the law, it is still being forced not only on me but all of us, my argument is I was not made aware regardless of who is to blame, this has been brought in under the radar my rights are being eroded are you happy with that because it includes you as well as me.

In fact this will be a global issue I haven't looked into other countries but if one can do this others will follow there is no one speaking up for us who has influence."

It's not being forced if you don't like it don't go there. Easy it is your choice. No one is making you go to the EU..There is a hole world out there not just the EU you know.

Yep, and if you’ve recently had a blue passport can you please apply for the old style at the earliest opportunity, apply discount code “here we go again” for €25 off

Oh no, so the NHS isn't getting the extra £350 mil per week?

"Yaaaaawwwwn are people still getting there panties in a bunch about this,it must be hard going being pissed off about something u cant change

************************

Fair play to you for admitting that your voting intentions were wholly selfish and with not a scintilla of thought for the wider and connected issues in society. Not many would have put their head up above that parapet to have that shot taken at them.

How do you now feel about the labour shortage across the economy and how inexorably that is linked to making inflation even worse than it already is right now?

What next for you? Restricting employment to immediate neighbourhoods? Towns? Regions maybe? Making your market as small as possible is not the product of joined up thinking, it is the product of fear.

Brexit was a shit idea, projected onto the population and propped up by lies and is still shit going forward.

To say we now need to just get on with it, to work towards reversing the negative effects of Brexit and returning us to a prosperous state, is a ridiculous claim.

We were prosperous whilst in the EU, surely the solution would be to return to the EU.

If you are sold anything that uses lying as a means to induce you to choose it you are entitled to return it, get your money back, tell them its shit and you don't want it.

Yet with this one area they have got away with 'selling' Brexit to us by using such tactics, lies, mistrust and now we are all poorer but cannot say no, this is bollocks, ots not what you promised so have it back. In fact we should all be able to claim compensation. You can do thus for all sorts of things that were mis sold.

Am I the only one who thinks we should just be able to reverse this, knowing what all the lies they told to get this done?

It seems so idiotic to me x

The problem is too many folk have been brainwashed to not even grasp that since 2016 other things have happened to negatively affect the whole world.

Doesn't take brainwashing to see that Brexit was based upon lies x

Do you seriously think the EU wants the UK back in its current state and longstanding mentality of prioritising "what's in it for me to want to be part of a bigger project"?

The line of thinking that we could just now re-join is as deluded as the idea in in 2015/2916 that “they need us, more than we need them.”

This type of hollowed out, exceptionalist thought process has been the cause of a lot of damage to this country for decades.

But friends over mine have business in the UK there only purchased property Is in Spain witch they can now only go to 90 days a year if they could get a green card then they can only be in the UK for 90 days. So it's hard for them now there between a rock and a hard place.
