Potentially huge.

Potentially you won't be able to believe anything post 2023 (say) unless you were there... Or knew someone who was (and trusted them)

Basically like biblical times!

Scary thought.

Tinsel Town

Stay off tiktok lol.

Unless you are suggesting there have been deepfake videos shown on MSM which I very much doubt, its quite funny seeing Kier Stammer singing "never gonna give you up".

It is already a problem, that is getting bigger.

Those that are susceptible will believe 100% that what they are watching and listening to is legitimate.

We are so connected that it takes no effort to find others that will qualify your thoughts as correct.

I don't think they'll be a problem at all. People already believe what they want to believe regardless of the evidence.

Take a look at the Boris Johnson thread. Lots of people who are absolutely convinced that Boris is innocent/guilty, despite none of them having seen any definitive evidence.

There will be a few headline deepfake scandals, and then we'll all get used to the idea that you can't trust a single point of evidence as conclusive.

I really disagree, Covid, Brexit and 5G are real time examples of how text or a video can influence and distort the truth on mass. With deepfake you can go much further by presenting the same lies and misinformation from trusted sources that are virtually impossible to spot the difference either visually or audibly

Any broadcasted message can be a problem. It's much more entertaining to just sit back and watch the world burn. Some people just like being lemmings.

Hmmm well unless it was a deepfake Boris sitting in the Privileges Committee yesterday or standing up in Parliament all those times lying then I think we can be pretty sure just by watching his and colleagues reactions snd his bumbling contradictory “evidence” that he is guilty as sin!

However, back on topic. Yep deepfakes can and will be exploited by bad actors. Coming to your social media echo chamber soon to influence the hard of thinking.

I look at the same evidence, and see a different view. Your examples show that people are already easily influenced with the methods we already have. I don't think that deepfakes will be any more insidious than all the tricks and techniques that are already used.
