I would never have thought that an American president would ever be arrested and treated like a criminal.
I remember Watergate Nixon caught bang to rights and pardoned by Carter.
World politics has taken a turn, things have changed, they would look out for each other in the past no matter what.
Now we have Trump who has a different narrative, lots of support from the American people, and he is some how their enermy.

Remember that trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen was charged and convicted for the same thing, the DOJ said you couldn’t charge a sitting president, and trump was “individual 1” the unindited co conspirator in that case….

Never really understood American’s fanatical obsession with their political leaders. It’s almost cult like. Can some enlighten me?
If an ex-PM in the UK was charged with with fiddling their expenses return I very much doubt there would be a call for protests…
More likely people would shrug their shoulders knowing like buses there would be another ex-PM along in 5 minutes.
I guess it’s must be just the result of 2 party money dominated personality politics. That gives a limited choice between the right (Democrats) and far right (Republicans). I know there are other parties but they are so marginal that they don’t get a look in. |

Sad to say you are right.
My daughter lives in the US. Her father-in-Law was a staunch Republican. She is an Accountant and showed him a while back a calculation that clearly showed that only those that owned companies or earned over $400,000 per annum (neither of which was him) would benefit from the Republican policies.
She showed him he would be better off under the Democrats. He still refused to change his vote because of a religion like commitment to the Republican party.
In the UK it has become a cult of personality after Johnson. Truss was a fine example of a woman who sold the ghost of Thatcher to the faithful. Her proposals were undeliverable yet they voted for her whilst the MPs, who knew well, voted for Sunak.
Give me boring but competent any day and I will still vote for whomever benefits me most. |

because we don't vote for strictly one party all the time. Pennsylvania is considered a purple state. Not red or blue. We are not staunch party followers.
