The planned strike action has only been suspended not cancelled.
The new offer from Network rail is being put to the RMT members via referendum on whether to accept the offer or not. |

True, maybe I have jumped the gun, however , it does look more optimistic and without the strikes they wouldn’t have had this offer |

It is also reasonable to assume that if previous offers from Network rail were put to RMT members via a referendum they too may have been accepted. However I do not believe the RMT gave their members that option. |

That is correct. They weren't given the choice before.

You can go on the RMT website and see the figures for how many voted to strike, not to strike and didn't return their ballot paper.
It makes interesting reading when you look at the all the different strike ballots. |

Strikes do work.
That's why organised labour is unpopular with the greediest of employers and unsympathetic of politicians.
All of these pay offers to rail workers, NHS, Fire service etc. would not have been made without strikes or the threat of strikes.
Would have been easier to come to a compromise earlier as nearly all of the private sector has done.
Yes rail pay awards are being decided in by Government not the individual rail franchises. |
