So we all moan about the PM
Jump to: Newest in thread
I don't think its ever been as bad as it has been in the last 10yrs or so.
The office has been turned into an absolute circus by a bunch of spoiled rich kids. They are primarily responsible for the circus, aided by their tabloid friends. That is the environment they are most comfortable in, as they have been completely unfit for an office of that stature.
Sunak does appear to be trying to bring some professionalism and maturity to the position, of late. |

You OP appears to be sympathetic?
Nobody is made to be PM and I have zero sympathy for anyone who chooses to go for the job. They are public servants and as such should be expected to be held to the highest standard, be utterly scrutinised, and face the consequences of any transgressions. |

The way I see it, nobody can really just walk into the role without the grounding and understanding that comes with being a party member, MP and minister. Some have short cut the process, Trump springs to mind.
The hours are long, everyman and his dog knows better than you, people dislike you for being you, the press wont leave you alone and people turn up outside your front gates shouting.
All that before breakfast, I will give it a swerve this time around but thanks for the offer

I would never wanna be PM. It's just endless hassle.
But the people who have been PM chose the job. They didn't have to do it. And the job affects millions of people. So I don't have much sympathy for PMs who fuck up. And they all seem to fuck up some way. |

If Sunak can pull off the N Ireland protocol thing, he will simultaneously put the ERG and the DUP in their place. At that moment the Conservative Party will be able to start to rehabilitate itself.
Unfortunately, I don’t see this happening for all his best intentions. The ERG can only be nullified within the Party when they are out of office and the DUP can be put in its place by allowing the people of N Ireland to vote on any proposed solutions with the EU.
I do admire Sunak for trying to do what he is doing and I wish that I thought differently about the outcome but I just can’t see him facing down the extremists and winning. |

"Where the fuck is Sunak anyway?
Also, trying to rehabilitate the tory brand is like trying to polish a turd.
What do you mean, where is he?"
He’s rarely on TV and other outlets, or talking about his vision, it’s like he doesn’t want to face the nation.
Probably because even he thinks the tories are a lost cause, what is the point of promoting them. |

I can only assume he's 'quietly' going about business.
Exactly what we need right now imo |

I think Sunak is between a rock and a hard place trying to please all the different factions in his party.
the whole thing is a mess and I dont believe the Torries are fit to govern right now. They wont be getting my vote at the next election for sure. |

Nonsense, everyone is entitled tona private life and if it isn't breaking any laws or political guidance what does it matter.
It's the job you do in the job that counts. |

It's exactly what the UK needs right now. Especially after the Johnson circus and the gross incompetence of Truss.
People got used to seeing the PM with their mug stuck in some tabloid or some nonsense story, just keeping everyone distracted, while they were doing very little.
Sunaks silence is a breath of fresh air, surely? |

Quietly cutting back room deals and dodgy handshakes to feather hid nest for when he inevitably loses this job (I know he doesn’t need the money, it is all about power and influence). |

Who said anything about not having a private life? The key point is “not breaking the law” to which you need to add “not breaking the ministerial code” and “not putting at risk national security” and “not financially benefitting yourself, your friends , cronies or family” ie utterly scrutinised!
Johnson, for example, couldn’t tick any of those boxes!
Nobody should care what they do in their private life as long as those actions do not compromise their integrity and ability to do the job. But if those actions result in you being open to influence then that isn’t acceptable in public office. |

I reckon we could put together quite the Cabinet from posters on the Fab forum. Obviously we are not allowed to name names but I can instantly think of...
Speaker = pedantry on everything
Education Minister = grammatical pedantry
Green energy Minister = all manner of eco energy hacks and money making schemes
Justice Minister = there’s a few and it depends if we want a left or right wing Cabinet
Defence Minister = some real experts on here so stiff competition
Home Secretary = no longer with us
Business Secretary = no longer posting (or is he using a different name?)
Chancellor = from what I have seen I wouldn’t trust any of you to look after our money LOL

Maybe it was all a long-term cunning plan of Johnson's. Have so many wives, girlfriends, mistresses & kids the press can't possibly follow them all. |

You just have to love British democracy
A PM who originally lost the leadership campaign
No one voted for him as PM
A PM with Non Dom status
A PM who appears to be a part time worker
A PM who he and his wife avoids paying tax
A PM who's wife's income comes from Russian oligarchs
How did this happen and why are we not having a Revolution |
