THE FOLLOWING MATTER IS SERIOUS.
We are not completely adverse to a UK Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) scheme, however, we don't believe a CBDC should be “programmable”. This would mean that the issuer(gov) of the digital currency would have control over how an individual is permitted to use that currency.
We believe that is not right and leave the system open to abuse.
We ask the Government to assure that it will prevent any implementation of a “programmable” digital currency.
We believe that using a "programmable" digital currency could take us down a dark road, eroding the freedoms we hold so precious. In order to retain the legal rights & freedoms associated with being a British Citizen, the introduction of any UK Central Bank Digital Currency should not contravene Article 8 & Article 14 of the Human Rights Act.
Just search on Google "petition against CBDC" and check the first link.
PLEASE RAISE THE AWARENESS, PEOPLE ARE NOT BEING INFORMED.
If the petition reaches 100,000 there would be a debate against it. There's currently 18,508 petition signed. Help us reach 100,000. Deadline is on the 5th of April.
If you value your freedom, please let's take action to save ourselves from situations of being entrapped into schemes that takes away our basic human rights. Thank you. |

After 4 months it has 18,515 signatures. It's not going to get to 100,000 in the next 2 months. Especially since the government has already responded that there are no plans to include programmable money in the proposed CBDC. |
