Firstly, lets ignore the divisive aspect of the white population declining as a proportion by as much as 5%.
Low amount of kids is hardly surprising, given how wage stagnation and rising costs over the decades have made a lot of folk defer kids or have less kids. Its damn near impossible for many to get a deposit for a family home once they have kids.
This does seem to indicate that regardless of ethnicity, folk in general are having less kids as well. New generations are needed of course, but you don't solve this problem by mass importing mainly fighting age males.
The country needs more families but doesn't seem to attract them. Either by immigration or people here starting them, makes you wonder why...
Or maybe we're completely wrong and our healthcare system is somehow managing to keep folk going after all? |

I'd need to see the data cut by social class etc to get to your conclusions.
It could be this who can afford kids are choosing not to have them. That is often the case for various reasons.
And if it is driven by class, and "non UK/non white" ppl tend to be lower class, that can go someway to seeing the increase in non white population.
Of course, health care helps longevity. Once can believe that the NHS could be better and yet still be helping. |

No real conclusions, just making some assertions based on the raw data.
The BBC seem to be focussing heavily on the white ethnicity decline and also from a Christian decline perspective. As does the DailyFail at no surprise! Naturally our media seem to ignore the elephant in the room.
Seriously, how can they keep raising state pension age when there are fewer and fewer young folk who will be able to reach the age of claiming pension?
Sorry, perhaps two topics in one thread, but that's what prompted our take on it.

The media are focussing on race and religion as these are the newest output from ONS.
They are raising the state pension age so that fewer people claim it. Because successive governments have allowed this number to creep up. It can only work as a insurance scheme for the very oldest. Not a right for all.
Unless you want to somehow increase taxes a load (either as a pc or viua productivity gains)... Or increase the number of tax payers ...
Unfortunately we have been wedded to increasing taxes via more people. And more non UK ppl at that.
If you want to hold state pension age AND reduce immigration.... Yiu need a serious and long term plan across many areas of government. I'm fully supportive of this. But it will be 20 years in the making ... Imo, our schooling isn't set up for productivity gains. It's set up to create cogs. Useful in the industrial age. Less so in the tech age. Hell, even cars don't have cogs ! |

Not only the UK but fertility rate for most countries, especially developed nation have not been at "replacement" level for years. As recently as a decade ago, the WHO were projecting world over population but now with China, India, Indonesia etc having rapidly declining fertility rate, the world population will start to decline within our lifetime.
Yes, the NHS is very good at keeping us alive (mortality) but between the NHS, Community Health and Older Persons Social Care, we're not very good at keeping people well (morbidity), so care is very difficult to manage.

Yes this is true. I work within the autonomy industry and it’s scary how fast new products and ideas are moving forward.
I can see that in 20 years time factories and warehouses that employed hundreds or thousands of employees only having less than 20 humans |

Well this is what happens, this generation was before the “pill” was introduced.
We kinda forget that.
People be complaining, but you got to also take into consideration other factors.
Strangely only seeing results for England and Wales, not other places such as Northern Ireland or Scotland. |

I read somewhere that for the UK to maintain workforce levels that are high enough to support state pension for current working generations we beed a ratio of 1.6
We are quite far below that. Which is why successive govts have looked to immigration (however that is packaged up) to bolster numbers. |

Office for National Statistics (ONS) conducted the 2021 Census for England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own Census offices (and indeed questions!). When all counted and checked, then the UK figures can be published.
Needless to say, the question on religion needs to be asked appropriately in Northern Ireland. |

But for sure plastics! Don't microwave your food in plastic containers as plastics have a feminising hormone that leaches into your food and stop sperm production. Beem going on for decades! |

Significant reduction is needed. We're over subscribed.
Power cuts are coming, we all know what happened when TVs were off in the 70's. Another baby boom on the horizon so would not worry too much.. |

African fertility rates are also trending downwards (from 5.25 at the start of the century to about 4.2 now).
That is higher than most so alligns with your statement. And I'd bet part of the doubling stat is also from improvement in child mortality.
But I took boom to mean increase versus current levels. Maybe that's not what was meant. |

agreed, although you probably need to factor in infant mortality too. If half don't make it past the first year, you need a replacement rate of 4 
seems the fella was talking about a UK boom tho as he's mentioned school portacabins. I'm still not quite sure what he's alluding to. Anyone ? |

Back in the 1970,s lots of schools ran out of classroom space and ended up having portakabin classrooms as a supposedly temporary measure but they were used for years afterwards |
