Good. They never should have been pushing it.

(But things must be financially v tight if Tories are scrapping mad vanity projects. Worrying sign.)

The only thing they're not talking about.

Compensation for ship yard cancellations, design fees and any other pre-build costs?

But, just like the £900k paint job on a plane should have been, this country has better things to spend money on.

I guess Sunak needs the cash so he can give it away to Pakistan in climate "reparations".

Better than wasting it on a boat.

Anyone who is enticed by the glitz of a vanity project in the form of a £200 million new boat is not someone I would want to do business with.

If I was one such "invitee", I would wait for the grand dinner before asking my hosts over their P.A (Public Address, not Prince Albert) "Why did you spend all this money on a boat and yet you have food banks in your country?".

Mike drop and then I'd leave my meal and say "Perhaps you can donate it to one of your foodbanks."

Wasn't the new royal yacht idea thought up to boost the flagging popularity of Boris Johnson?

In which case it is now an irrelevance.

As well as his Private Jet!!

A fuel carrier with posh seats and expensive paint job.

It's a wonder he didn't push Shell for a road tanker as a limo.
