Party members will not be happy

It’s now unlikely the members will need to be asked to vote

Sunak anointed PM tomorrow

Will be interesting to see if his “102 nominations “ bolt to penny…. Or whether the ERG give up?

Nadine will be heartbroken…. Bless!

Boris backers may move to Mordant which will result in yet another mostly male grey haired out of touch election. How did that work out last time?

Since Boris came on the scene it’s all been about celebrity and the politicians morals rather than the country. He needs to just f**k off!!

I think he was told if he did so many mps would give up the whip that a general election would be inevitable…..

No point in Johnson coming back to then be probably humiliated again in 4 weeks and then give it up again!

Sunak is not going to have the support of the party - this fracture may cause more damage than some constituency MPs not getting behind Boris

Sunak will get more time to right the ship than Johnson would ever have been got… unless the ERG and Johnson sycophants want to torpedo it and cause a general election.. in which case I am all up for that!!

There is a lot of anger … Sunak is not going to have long enough to right the ship.

Messages flying around in constituency groups tonight …

Only hope now is Morduant gets 100…

If it’s a done deal tomorrow… watch the fall out

His statement is all about him, it's known he can't stand Sunak but he mentions nothing about economic stability etc going forward..

He is trying to distance himself from anything that might hinder his future plans to run but he's not thinking about the state of the nation and the problems facing millions..

Absolutely. If the Tories weren't 30-40 points behind in the polls, he'd be in the running.

Future plans to run...

See he mentioned about delivering a victory in 2024?

Sunak wins. Johnson's supporters gather around to force a leadership election in 2023 after this standards commission thing is done. Bojo elected as leader and that gives him a chance of winning a 2024 election when he cons the gullible again as a saviour to the problems sunak caused for the red wall voters (and everyone else).

It might be a plan for him but i think if he were to try and chop Sunak the party wouldn't stand for it, with the time left till the GE..

I think he thought he could waltz back in and he would get to the members vote which he would have won but I simply think as I said this afternoon he hasn't got the support..

Maybe Truss will give him a peerage and he will reciprocate when they do their honours lists..

Thank fuck for that!

Clearly, he wasn't allowed. The sane Tories, if that's the right word, would have told him that, if the insane - and that is the right word - membership returned him as leader, they'd collapse any government he tried to form.

Quite right, too. I'm no Rishi fan, obviously - but thank fuck someone who at least understands there's a problem will be in charge.

Even if he only cares about the vulnerable because the previous PM and CotE created so many more of them.

Well that put a dampener on Jacob Grease Smugs claims about Boris 'clearly' going to stand. Let's hope he keeps quite for a few days now. Odious creature of a man!
