^ basically this. However mad Putin is, I can’t believe the military leadership under his control will allow a situation where their families are at risk from a nuclear war at the hands of a madman.

However, along with energy shortages, food shortages, increased prices and cost of living worries globally, the rhetoric all helps fuel panic and worry amongst the global population. It’s all going to plan. 2030.

I do think he will do soon. He’s backed into the corner and hasn’t got many options left. Surrender to him isn’t one, unless one of his own takes him out I think he will press the button.

China and India have both condemned his threats of

using them.

Russias military has proved to be far less powerful as it made it out to be. Nuclear weapons are its last resort - which its at right now…

I've already built a nuclear shelter and its stocked with porn mags and toilet roll.

But to answer your question doubt it. But if someone told me a year before covid and the pandemic would be happening I wouldn't have believed them so you can't rule it out

When there is more men fleeing Russia instead of being drafted that is a big issue.Putin might just use nukes as a morale boost.

It's an unlikely scenario. However I'd think we'd all prefer better odds than unlikely given the fall out of such a scenario (sorry for the bad pun).

It's not something I'm worried about. I think we need to keep the pressure on. Appeasement I believe would be the road to direct confrontation with NATO and this being a more likely out come in the future.

The wheels are really stating to fall off Putins wagon everywhere. And as time goes on I think Putin will become far more focused on defending himself internally than on anything going on in Ukraine. And as Russian history tends to repeat its self the importance of the troops actually in Russia it's self and who they are loyal to will be every thing. Not what's going on in Ukraine or the Russian troops there for it is already lost and a game of thrones is about to begin.

If he does he loses all of his allies too and totally isolates Russia. His ego not to be a failed national leader will prevent a crazy decision, however some of his motley crew in the background I'm more wary of tbh.

He won't, as a few here have said his generals won't allow it. He's playing smarter tactic, starving Europe of gas and forcing up the price of services and commodities, the leaks in the Nordstream line no accident, and the Russian warships and submarines hanging around off the west coast off Europe aren't there by coincidence either. Modern warfare is about control , and if the lines of communication/ data could be interrupted or ,ahem "accidentally damaged" then we'd all be in a bit of bother to put it mildly

Totally right, WW2 dragged on for way too long because those pesky Americans supplied the Britain and many other nations with weapons to fight the Axis. And because evil Britain and America sent all those weapons to Russia to fight the NAZI's. The weapons shouldn't have been sent and every should have all rolled over and given in to Hitler so we could end the war

He might well do…let’s not forget that WWI started off by an ‘accident’. WWII by a madman who—in the end—couldn’t care less about the very people in whose name he was supposedly waging that war and he actually wanted them to die because they were not worthy of his dream…

Putin has used the threat of nuclear weapons so many times, the message is clearly to drive fear into the public and cause hesitancy at a political level.

The media lap it up and stoke the response Putin wants.

If Putin used nuclear weapons, I would imagine it would be the end of his leadership. Reading how much he wants to be seen as a great leader and tactician I doubt his ego could accept being remembered by Russians as the Russian leader who failed and brought Russia to its knees.

Short answer, I hope not

Russia must be a cursed country. With so much natural resources and potential, it has been held back by corrupt leadership its unreal.

Other countries like India, China, Japan and Korea have surpassed it in terms of growth and welfare of the people, even though these countries started behind Russia.

I can possibly see him chucking a smaller tactical nuke or two at millitary targets in Ukraine if Russia keeps losing ground in the areas they are trying to claim. As for a wider nuclear conflict, I can't see it. Hopefully not just me wishfully thinking.

This Putin is mad narrative is total nonsense, but of course it's easier to think that then to do some research into why Russia is behaving as it is.

Chapter 1 of the bestselling book "Prisoners of Geography" by Tim Marshall will tell you everything you need to know about Russia's motives for invading Ukraine.

Just as well for everyone that Putin isn't mad.

Evil, self absorbed etc yes...but not mad.

has anyone stopped to think hat it is largely due to the existence of the nuclear deterrent that Putin is getting away with what he is already doing.

Other nations are so shit scared of him 'pressing the red button' that they dare not deal with him firmly and decisively as he gets his own way with comparative ease by threatening to press said button.

or failing to have a sense of humour..pretty pathetic too
