Which of her policies are being called facist, which you believe are not, Seb?
(I know little about Italian politics. But I got the impression she was anti gay adoption which while not facist, doesn't feel a polic I could ever see as being good). |

"I guess it’s easy being as it’s Italy to claim that belief in family, the country & Christianity is bordering on a return to fascism. Nothing wrong with those beliefs surely? "
or Fascism : a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government. |

Nothing wrong with them at all though it's what policies they implement that are important rather than the slogan (which is pretty good in my opinion). I think the fascism bit comes in because her party is an off shoot of a previous fascist party with links to Mussolini or something along those lines. Of course it does not mean they will act in the same way |

Fascism and extreme right are terms that are thrown about way to much particularly by the political left learners.
I heard the term Liberal fascist recenty relating to the Liberals and lefts wanting to close down debate or opinions that don't align with beliefs... Rather fitting I though. |

That's generally down to snowflake conservatives unwilling or unable to make an argument against them. |

There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those beliefs, though religion (or lack of) is a matter of personal preference, until it directly impacts others.
Fascism is not nationalism or support of the family unit, or Christianity. This is regardless of what misguided Twitterati (I know, not a real word) and activists say.
Fascism is very specific and entails very strict regimented ordering of society at all levels. IT also specifically requires a centralised dictator. It's amazing how overuse of the term desensitizes what it is truly meant to convey. |

Bit I’ve never expressed an anti immigration stance. It does puzzle me that some people choose not to see the difference between legal planned & managed immigration and Illegal immigration, false claims of asylum, and of course the disaster of open house mass immigration from Eastern Europe that led to the disastrous Brexit result.
Probably the same people that like to put the country down. We are not perfect of course but we have a proud history of helping those in need. Sadly our compassionate past has led to those seeking to take the piss. |

Very true.
The terms fascist/Nazi Etc. are regularly thrown around these days to the point where they are almost ignored.
I liken it to "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" story.
When people become immune to the term and the REAL fascists/Nazi's turn up no-one will notice..... Until it's too late.

I don't see Italy envolved in those conflicts but the reality is the actions of few countries they reflect in big numbers if refugees knocking doors at Mediterranean countries like Italy. We can say we have big numbers of illegal immigration but not numbers that can be compared to Italy and Spain mostly |

Looking at some of the figures I think you are right. It is estimated that over 60% of people crossing the channel are Albanian, who we know are not at war.
What I find interesting, is Albanians can travel here and stay for 180 days on a travel visa. Why are they crossing the channel in a small boat and paying thousands of £'s to do so when they can travel freely? Something is not adding up, it is either the reporting of it, or manipulation by smugglers perhaps.

Probably the same people that like to put the country down. We are not perfect of course but we have a proud history of helping those in need. Sadly our compassionate past has led to those seeking to take the piss."
Let's split this out:
"Planned" immigration we have of control over (eg non EU)
FoM from EU
Legitimate asylum claims
Fraudulent asylum claims
Illegal immigration without an asylum (or failed) asylum change.
Planned immigration grew from 1992 to 2004. It reduces a bit until 2013 and has then seen a rpaid increase again. Part of the 2004 fall may be eastern Europeans moving from planned to FoM stats.
EU was flat with an increase from 2003 to 2997. It then fell for a few years and started to increase again until 2016 at which point it fell off.
The combined effect is immigration has been bouncing around 300k since 2014. It looks like it is going up.
So while there is this focus on disasterouts open house, it's not clear how much actually happened... And how much was plugging a need.
But the Tory plan for growth appears to be fuellee by immigration. The 45p tax is a red herring. The tough stance on asylum seekers is it trying to appeal to voters.
Moving on to asulym seekers
People will have different views as to what help we should offer those in need. For me, the numbers here are small compared to wider immigration and population change. And I err towards seeking to help. And I'd be happy being taxed more if support is needed (but wortj noting the hotel costs are due to a slow process. It may be better to invest in more processing ppl etc)
Now, I don't know how many asylum claims are invalid. This feels like a "fact" thrown out without substance. IF true it says our checking processes don't work. Wouldn't that be the first place to fix rather than turn out back on this that need us.
Finally, truely illegal immigration. I suspect noone supports this. However I see it is important to kit conflate these with asylum seekers simply because we all but force illegal entry to claim asylum. |

Or claim to be. Funny that.if they are lying and still get asylum, that's on our checking ability.
But you and I would be guessing if we say that the number of successful false claims is 1pc or 99pc. But I've yet to see any evidence to say our people are getting it wrong.
They are told what to say. There is no reason why anyone from Albania should rock up in England to claim asylum or that they’ve been trafficked. They are taking the piss. Send them all back.

But I’m not ‘anti immigration’. I doubt that she is either.
It’s good to see you have finally accepted the undeniable advantages of immigration
The vast majority of refugees fleeing war and persecution stay in mainland Europe

" Albania is a source country for the trafficking of women, men and children to other European countries, including the UK. Most are trafficked by close family members or people they have close social ties, including those with links to criminal networks. Victims are often lured into trafficking by promises of marriage or employment, although coercion is sometimes used. Men and boys who are from poorer backgrounds, have low/poor education, have physical or mental disabilities, experienced domestic including sexual abuse, and live in remote areas are more likely to be vulnerable to being trafficked (and re-trafficked)

Less that 1000? They are all asylum seekers unless they are denied asylum, basic stuff really.
No they are not, and you know it. You are not that naïve. Basic stuff indeed. Not a single person crossing the English Channel to arrive here by illegal means is seeking asylum.
Over 70 % are granted asylum by virtue of them being ‘asylum seekers’ , it’s basic stuff seb, I thought we had made progress but it appears you have regressed again.
70% of whom?
Asylum seekers
Right. You are not that simple.
The facts are simple Seb, once you realise this the world becomes a less frightening place " I suspect the argument is they are all coming over here to work illegally... And only claim asylum if caught. So they aren't coming for asylum.
That doesn't explain how they are then successful if they don't have a case. Maybe they are being forced to come over, and that it itself gives them a case...

But I’m not ‘anti immigration’. I doubt that she is either.
It’s good to see you have finally accepted the undeniable advantages of immigration
The vast majority of refugees fleeing war and persecution stay in mainland Europe
Any idea why these Albanians are coming to the UK by dingy? Are they just economic migrants or claiming asylum? If claiming asylum what from? apparently the majority of successful applications (at success was above 50pc of applications) is because they are victims of trafficking.

Oh great. Just the sort of people that we want rocking up on our shores. Why don’t we just adopt open house for every mad bad dangerous person from abroad ( don’t mention the F word) why don’t we give them a Porsche on arrival?
" that's a leap my friend. Why do you think they are mad bad and dangerous?
You can have a different view about whether we should offer support and aid to those being taken advantage of... But going to the extremes is an odd position to take.
But can take it as a slight change in position given you didn't challenge the statements made? |

Why do you think there is no reason Seb?
Oh great. Just the sort of people that we want rocking up on our shores. Why don’t we just adopt open house for every mad bad dangerous person from abroad ( don’t mention the F word) why don’t we give them a Porsche on arrival?
that's a leap my friend. Why do you think they are mad bad and dangerous?
You can have a different view about whether we should offer support and aid to those being taken advantage of... But going to the extremes is an odd position to take.
But can take it as a slight change in position given you didn't challenge the statements made?"
What statements? |

Right..................
But I’m not ‘anti immigration’. I doubt that she is either.
It’s good to see you have finally accepted the undeniable advantages of immigration
The vast majority of refugees fleeing war and persecution stay in mainland Europe
Any idea why these Albanians are coming to the UK by dingy? Are they just economic migrants or claiming asylum? If claiming asylum what from? apparently the majority of successful applications (at success was above 50pc of applications) is because they are victims of trafficking.
What percentage are coming from Albania?
Percentage of what?
What percentage (of the total number of asylum seekers arriving in the UK ) are from Albania ? Or, how many have arrived this year?
I don’t know, do you? If not, why do you ask? And by the way, why do you assume they are asylum seekers?
Less that 1000? They are all asylum seekers unless they are denied asylum, basic stuff really.
No they are not, and you know it. You are not that naïve. Basic stuff indeed. Not a single person crossing the English Channel to arrive here by illegal means is seeking asylum.
Over 70 % are granted asylum by virtue of them being ‘asylum seekers’ , it’s basic stuff seb, I thought we had made progress but it appears you have regressed again.
70% of whom?
Asylum seekers
Right. You are not that simple.
The facts are simple Seb, once you realise this the world becomes a less frightening place I suspect the argument is they are all coming over here to work illegally... And only claim asylum if caught. So they aren't coming for asylum.
That doesn't explain how they are then successful if they don't have a case. Maybe they are being forced to come over, and that it itself gives them a case...
True, I think it is important for the likes of Seb to understand this, instead of wasting time and energy worrying about gangs of Albanians attacking him
What? Why would I worry about being attacked by Albanians - keep it real
Then embrace them for the decent hard working people that they are, coming all that way over here to contribute to British culture , society and the economy
Stop it. Decent hard working people would get a visa and hop on a plane. You know that.
Those being exploited , forced to leave and fleeing persecution don’t have that option, this is really basic stuff Seb, that we have been over many times, i thought we had made some progress "
But why come to this racist infested hell hole?
Unless they see us as a soft touch. |

Please explain in detail how someone (usually a young male) from Albania, that at best has contributed fuck all to his own country will suddenly be such a wonderful asset to society here. Come down from that cloud. |

Albania is a source country for the trafficking of women, men and children to other European countries, including the UK. Most are trafficked by close family members or people they have close social ties, including those with links to criminal networks. Victims are often lured into trafficking by promises of marriage or employment, although coercion is sometimes used. There is no good reason for them to come here. I've just said why they are coming here and reasons they are claiming and being successful in getting asylum. This is going to be a boring conversation if you ignore it and simply make simple statements. Have you thought or becoming a Tory MP?
No good reason, no good reason, no good reason. "
Why do you assume that only Tory MPs would be protective of UK borders & security? |

Why do you assume that only Tory MPs would be protective of UK borders & security?" that's not the reason I said that. It's the lack of detail in your position but repetition of statements.
From what I can tell, you have heard about vulnerable people being exploited by criminal gangs and think one of:
1) you don't believe them.
2) you do believe them but don't think it's a good enough reason yo help
3) do believe them but think we should only offer help to those who can contribute to our society.
I find it hard to understand your views. So there may be a fourth option that you could educate me on. |

"How do you know they are from Albania ? "
There are many references to this online from news sources. We have found one by the Telegraph which states a military intelligence report recorded 4 in 10 recorded channel migrants coming from Albania. |

What i find interesting is people will believe they are from Albania, but not the reasons for being here... If these folks wil say anything to get in (as they tend to be accused of) and "know all the answers" why is this bit taken as gospel. |

It was a snap shot of a certain group of boats. But as albania Is c 10pc of all asylum applications and the larger apps (Iraq, Iran, Syria) may have other routes I can buy that they make up a reasonably large pc. |

Spain is going in a similar direction. Illegal immigrants from Africa, mainly Senegalese young men are upsetting the Spanish. ‘Undocumented’ immigrants they call them, a term that is starting to be used here also.
Beach sellers, bizarrely selling copies / fakes of bags, trainers, sunglasses. None of it made in Africa by the way. So, tens of thousands of illegal immigrants, selling fake goods. They then had the cheek to claim that the Spaniards that complain are? You guessed it - racist.
Funny old world. |

If the Senegalese are illegal, that's a different problem than having too many people coming over to claim asylum.

Some can certainly get here by legal means but they are the ones who come here just to work for a period of time which helps them and this country. If what is said on this thread is true then the dingy ones could be being trafficked into the country which of course does not contribute to the economy and is appalling |
