Kwarteng and hedge fund managers

Jump to: Newest in thread

Apparently, Kwarteng has been meeting hedge fund managers who egged him on to cut taaxes even more. These are the v same people who have been making a fortune betting on our economy tanking.

Two hedge fund managers reportedly even described Kwarteng as: a useful idiot.

And Odey, hedge fund manager + Kwarteng's former boss, also met him privately. Odey apparently said his bets against government bonds were: gifts that keep on giving.

WTF? This seems to go way beyond the usual government corruption we have become depressingly used to.

Pretty standard stuff. JRM did the same in 2016 with Brexit.

Tbh I ascribed this more to incompetence. I think they really believe this shit, and the hedge fund managers are just not gonna look this gift horse in the mouth.

Hence useful idiot.

Princes Risborough, Luasanne, Alderney

it's clearly just more institutional conservative and unionist corruption that will never end. it's getting to the point where the party should be proscribed as a danger to the fabric of the country.

This Conservative party in the last 12 yrs has brought nothing, yes NOTHING to improve the lives of the working classes. Scandal, corruption, sexual escapades and now this buffoon who has just tanked the economy turning up to get a pat on the back from his mates and backers. He will be assured of his place after he is voted out he will have a job with those he has just given unlimited bonuses and tax cuts to. SLEEEAZE the tory party motto for the upcoming conference

"Isn’t this insider trading? "

Insider Trading: the illegal practice of trading on the stock exchange to one's own advantage through having access to confidential information.

Probably hard to prove in court. I don't know if it applies to the government.

In my opinion, MPs shouldn't be able to get rich from tinkering with government policy, budgets etc.

The reason they have removed the banker bonus cap, they are making shed loads shorting the pound.

This really should be a huge scandal. I think part of Johnson's legacy is that people have become desensitised to scandal.

apparently Odey is also a mentor for JRM and Somerset capital was seeded by/part of Odeys hedge fund. The other founder of SC is Dominic Johnson. Who has just been elected as a trade minister.

How spiffing. I'm sure the Met will investigate all this as speedily and willingly as they investigated Partygate...

Point of note, Dominic Johnson was “appointed” not “elected”. He is one those unelected officials the Brexit crowd were always banging on about, except of course this is the UK not EU so that’s all ok!
