Led By donkeys put together a visual representation of the sheer madness of that mini budget by Truss/Kwarteng. It's easy to find by looking up Kamikwasi tax.
Then just click + scroll right. And keep scrolling for a loooong time. It really gives an idea of the scale of this fuck up. |

Yup. In one hour of talking, Kwasimodo cost the UK more than two and a half million years worth of a nurses wages.
Putting it another way, if we make Truss pay it back from her PM salary, it would take her nearly half a million years.
That's a pretty major fuck up. |

Yep I feel you are correct. They know they will be out at the next GE so they are filling their pockets with as much money as possible and helping their friends out.
They will blame Labour for all this.

I don't think so, Russia spent a lot of time and effort promoting brexit to make the UK weaker and poorer. I think Truss is either incompetent & arrogant, or that this was a deliberate act to devalue the pound. |

I's go with incompetent and arrogant, at a guess. Political shitstorms are normally caused by incompetence.
But there are v worrying stories about Kwarteng meeting with hedge fund managers. And I truly wouldn't put it past them to short the pound to make a fortune for their mates.

1. Announce unfunded tax cuts causing £ to tank
2. Cronies had prior warning of policy announcement so shorted the £
3. BoE step in to assure markets so £ rallies
4. Govt talks about austerity so £ rallies
5. U-turn on tax cut so £ rallies
6. They cash in on the short positions
Over last couple of weeks a small elite group of people have made a LOT of money.
