Lesbians don't like penises

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I'm not a lesbian so I wouldn't know, but some women who are lesbians were removed from a pride march for carrying a banner that said this.

My understanding of it is the banner upset a group of 'trans-activists', the ensuing commotion causing police to 'ave a word, and get rid.

Should they have instead said:

a) Some lesbians don't like penises

b) These lesbians don't like penises

c) Lesbians like some things

Or, should they have not bothered with the banner at all?

I'm silly, but not silly enough to miss what was, in my opinion, the obvious antagonism contained within their sign. And there's a question there about the appropriateness of such a provoking sign at an event for all people under the LGBTQ+ flag.

But they appear to have concerns about being labelled as bigots for not wanting to play with people who have penises. And from listing to some of the different voices in the debate, there is a population of lesbians who feel as if they're being forced out of their identities by trans-activists.

So was their banner appropriate? Badly pitched? Badly worded? Justified? Vital? Hateful?

Think it's quite broad to say all lesbians don't like penises. Like its an immortal sin if a lesbian uses a dildo or a lesbian couple use a strap on?

Was there a banner from the gay men saying they don't like vaginas? Equality and all that...

Isn't it correct by definition of a lesbian ?

If they liked penises wouldn't they be straight or bi women ?

No. The definition of a lesbian is not someone that doesn't like penises.

It seems to me that these trans activists that keep popping up are just out to make trouble for anyone with any agenda.

They are struggling to make themselves relevant but not doing a very good job of it.

I will copy and paste my reply from the previous thread:

"What actually happened:

They were a group of transphobes who tried to block the parade. They were removed by the police. They blocked the parade and were chanting hateful slogans.

Why are people purposefully trying to paint a different picture of what happened?

Why are people victimising them?"

The "trans activists" that the newspapers, the government and a number of evangelical christian backed gender critical groups keep making a big noise about simply do not exist. Trans people have a hard enough time just trying to be themselves and avoiding getting beaten to a pulp by neanderthals who have been told to hate us by the Daily Mail (* other shit rag newspapers are also available). We have no desire to make ourselves relevant, merely to be allowed to exist in peace. As for all the "lesbians" who claim we want into their knickers - darlings, why the fuck would we want anything to do with people who hate us?

Is that the traditional ‘old fashioned’ woman though? You know, the ones with a womb?

Sorry if this offends anyone, as Ricky Gervais said “look I’m happy for anyone to be whatever they want, I will address them as he or she whatever, but ladies, meet my half way, get rid of the cock”.

I'd imagine the protestors would likely not fancy FTM as well as MTF. Regardless of whether they had transitioned fully or not.

Our gay/lesbian/straight (and even bi) labels don't work outside non CIS genders.

(Apols in advance for any poor terms in the above!)

A woman is more than just a vagina. A man is more than just a penis.

The gender criticals often put forward a hideous reductionist definition of a lesbian as being a woman who only likes vagina, likes any vagina, is disqualified if they have ever indulged in any type of contact with any person who has a penis, and must be utterly repulsed by anything that is even vaguely penis reminiscent. The world is not like that. Sexual categories have blurred boundaries. Yes there are women who do fit into that restrictive definition of a lesbian. There are many more who perfectly validly consider themselves to be lesbian who may love something penis shaped, whether plastic or even organic on occasion.

I could continue this line of discussion all afternoon. I'll simply state though that IMHO, the gatekeepers of sexual terminology who seek to force their world view as being sacred and absolute are dangerous enemies of the personal freedoms that have been fought for over at least the past century. They want nothing more than to classify, label, force everyone into little boxes, then burn the boxes they do not like.

as I mentioned above, I think LBG is somewhat inflexible terms for the way we view the world now. We need better definitions.

But I would say if we are to force old terms then lesbians are attractive to women. Within that time lesbians may say they are attractive to cis women only. Some may say they are attracted to all.

A women who is attracted to someone who has transitioned to male as well as women is imo "bi' under old currency. I suspect many of the protesting lesbians would not fancy a man who is transitioning regardless of whether he now has a penis or not. And if that man was attracted to women, i suspect they would not class him as a lesbian.

so because definitions may be improved in the future we should give up using a better definition today.

For me a definition helps make sure that we both agree what we are talking about. Clearly the current label of lesbian/gay has ambiguity.

And seems to be around if a vagina is attracted to penis or not. It's all based on sex at birth, not gender or gender presentation. Until we get someone naked we don't know if how they present is aligned with sex at birth. Yet we would have already had a sense of attraction.

I'm comfortable with not letting perfection becoming the enemy of the good.

I don't see I'm tying myself in knots either.

I see previously (and still) marginalised groups get angry because how they define a word they want to use for themselves doesnt align with how others define that word when they use it for themselves. And so go shout at another group.

I also see others want to use old definitions but avoid looking to see if they work for the rarer cases. Often that's because they still see female as being the label given at birth. Regardless of what happens since. The same people would likely not look twice at a man who was assigned female at birth, yet would knock one out to a female who was assigned make at birth, if they hadn't been told differently ....

It seems very simple to me. A lesbian is a woman who is not attracted to men, but is attracted to other women. Given that this all based on feelings, they get to decide what definition of 'woman' they want to use.

Some lesbians do indeed like penises, they just don't want to deal with masculinity.

It could be argued that their attendance at a LGBTQ march, where the T has obviously been welcomed, was ill judged and always going to cause trouble. But then that's kinda the point of a protest, to create a stir, attract attention and cause debate.

Equating dildos with penises is fucking ridiculous.

Gay men were not holding up signs saying gay men don't like vaginas because they have not been impacted in the same way by trans men in their spaces. I also think any attempt to tell gay men what to do and who they should consider as a potential sexual partner is met with a firmer, mon negotiable "fuck off". More power to them.
