"The Queen is ill and this has been confirmed by Buckingham Palace.
Apparently there was a sudden exodus from Parliament.
Newsreaders apparently wearing black ties.
No idea if true."
Unfortunately I think she has died, check out the BBC , scheduled wiped, everyone in black |

"Has passed.. is a nicer way to put it.
"
Protocol would argue otherwise...
“The Queen is dead, the Queen is dead, long live the King!”
I don’t think we should be afraid of using real words that accurately describe the situation. |

when your family are called it is never a good sign.. Hopefully she can turn it around but just seems an air of inevitability..

"Maybe, the general public are always last know.
If its true, may she rest in peace. "
Protocol is quite strict on this.
So the Queen's private secretary will firstly inform the privy council, And the prime minister.
The Prime Minister is then responsible for informing the other 15 countries where the Queen is head of state and then the Commonwealth leaders.
The 1st the public will know about it is when a Notice is put on a lecturn outside Buckingham palace. |

The notice on a lectern, is it set in stone and the BBC will not be able to broadcast her passing until that happens?
It has been so long since we lost a monarch, the world is such a different place now. |

"That wasn't aimed at you directly,
it was a general comment.
I can just see the heartless headlines in the papers tomorrow, that family wont be able to avoid."
Tbh , I think the press will by sympathetic |

"That her immediate close family are with her or enroute indicates the end of her life is sadly imminent..
Very sad news, whilst not unexpected given her age it's still upsetting.."
indeed, very sad and upsetting |

I've never had a problem saying someone has died.
Passed, I always find a bit woolly as if it means something else and death can be made less sad by using a different word.
It would be nice to think that most elderly folks, not just the Queen, have their loving family around at the time of their death.

"They won’t announce anything till all the family are there.. and it basically looks like now they are just waiting on harry!
"
It won't be announced until every Commonwealth leader has been informed as well. |

In the weeks leading up to my mum's death I asked the doctors to use the words 'dead' and 'dying' when talking to me. I know a lot of people don't like it but euphemisms often lead to confusion especially if you're already not thinking straight. |

My grandad lived with us and died when my daughter was three . She was really close to him. I got a book to help me support her and it said never tell a child someone has "gone to sleep" or they will be scared every night. |
