a confidence vote isn't going to happen unless huge amounts of tory voters contact thier mp's telling them they will not vote tory again unless the mp starts to vote against the government's pernicious policies. and that is unlikely. |

I did not vote for Johnson per se. He is not my MP. In fact those outside his constituency voted for the Conservative candidate not Johnson.
If they are unhappy about Johnson or the way the Conservatives do things then do not vote for them again. The people never chose the party leader |

Funny how Labour supporters want a GE like yesterday if the Conservatives change leader mid term. But when the boot is on the other foot they the first to defend the system. 
Worth noting that since 1950 Britain has only had 4 Labour Pm's and only 2 of them actually won a GE. |

Setting up a working government takes time, that is why I'm saying a general election now will bring no stability or noticeable change in the short term. The civil servants will be doing what they are doing now, tomorrow but with a government trying to find their feet.
Other than having the chance to celebrate getting them out, I can't see the benefit. If I was labour, I would want the tories to stay on the coalface, I wouldn't want this poison chalice... |

But the question wasn’t should they want a GE but what would happen if there was one.
There would of course be a settling in period but circumstances would dictate taking quick and decisive action. The Civil Service have all their briefing prepared for Ministerial changes anyway, little difference what colour tie they wear. |

The country has been suffering for over a decade. They successfully blamed the EU, foreigners, Labour, Corbyn, Blair, foreigners again.
Can't see any of their latest self serving behaviours making any difference to people who voted for them the last however-many-times.

That's because the same discussion happens all the time. The Tories fuck up, rip off the country, line their own pockets etc etc. People get excited thinking that finally they'll get voted out. But they never do. |

Yes the “Tory faithful” might but they are not enough to carry an election and never have been.
Labour found this out with their own “faithful” when Corbyn was in power.

Every now and then they do get voted out of course. Would happen more often if the opposition got their act together. I guess there is an inherent problem with Labour though where it’s not in their interest for their core voters to do well. Most people as soon as they make a few Bob drop Labour. |
