Now Royal Mail workers are on strike

Seems to be a lot of it going around lately, on the strike front. Hard to blame them. These workers, like rail workers, seem to have been screwed over by bosses who have simultaneously handed out huge profits to shareholders.

Nothing works in this country anymore

It’s simply corporate greed

Take your money and give nothing in return

The CEO and shareholders need fed so screw the workers

Trouble is politicians feed at the same trough

It’s all a viscous circle and I don’t know where it will end. Some skilled trades are massively underpaid and there is a real shortage of staff and new apprentices coming in.

A lot of skilled trades people are now working at royals mail or driving lorries or vans.

It’s all spiralling out of control

Time we learnt that the Tories have led us totally up the garden path. They have fostered a culture where management and CEOs are getting salary rises way above

the inflation rate and rarely based on real performance .

The present situation of electing one useless Tory after another needs to end that is if it isnt already too late.

I really think it’s too late and it has caused devastating effects on our economy that will ruin this country and out standard of healthcare and living for decades to come

"Bandwagon

do you think they're justified in striking?"

No, if they want better conditions or pay they should get a other job.

A postman doesn't require high levels of qualifications and if some of the temporary postmen we've had are an example they can't even read an address on an envelope.

I'm sure there are other less expensive ways to fill the void without royal mail

Thats one of the many issues about these strikes people are leaving, and those left behind have to manage the extra workload, also the high cost of agency staff costs which could go towards a pay rise and the retention of staff.

If you think this is mainly about pay then also consider employment conditions as it is these conditions the employers are really out to change, the nurses, railway men all say public safety is at risk if these changes are made.

It’s outdated and inefficient. Most of my personal correspondence is paperless now.

Amazon blow them out the water for convenience and efficiency.

I like my postie though he wanders in and helps himself to water in the summer tells me a racing tip and off he goes. Can’t get that type of service from Amazon.

Hmmm what you think will happen if every Royal Mail worker just leaves for another job? And what you reckon will happen if every nurse just leaves to get another job? And every rail worker?

etc

Might cause a teeny problem for the country, no?

I agree with what you are saying but it won’t happen. Not every worker will leave, not every worker is on strike.

I believe that all the NHS strikes are doing is privatising the NHS quicker.

The NHS will be paying ridiculous money for agency staff and the NHS staff are leaving and going to work for agency’s for more money.

The NHS will become private quicker than you realise

Nope, there's plenty of couriers who will pay the ex postmen a lot less money for double the work.

EVRI starts at £2.69 post office first class £0.95 the post office needs modernisation but government and unions don't or won't let it. Would it make much difference if post was every other day out of towns. For example.

Who cares what they earn. I assume about 10%. Why do they deserve it? Well, like all of us, they aren't responsible for inflation.

What jobs are they going to do that offer more money, better benefits and security?

Unemployment is expected to rise. Where are these amazing jobs that unskilled posties are going to apply for?!

Post believe it or not is still a in portent I'm winding up my late mother's estate. And everything has been posted. Still need ink on paper. I was surprised at the start it could not be done with docu signe etc.

As the government put benefits and pensions up by the rate of inflation every one else wants the same.

Or the gap will shrink working againt benefits then you might as well not work.

The postie at your door is poorly paid and walks miles in all weathers

They are not well paid at all

The drivers on the other hand are paid very well

There is an awful lot of lame and lazy people who work for the Royal Mail

I’ve seen it and there is huge room to improve

But not everyone s lazy nor well paid
