Redacting affidavits before charges are brought is standard practice. It protects the witnesses and stops the investigation being hampered by evidence being destroyed.
The Republicans, other than Trump, say they want it made public because they know it will not and they can then claim FBI bias. The unthinking cult followers who think the likes of Hannity and Carlson are sooth sayers will never question that and just see bias. |

The public will get to know; in the normal course the trial from discovery and court transcripts. Then the public can read, see and hear every gory detail. It will then be clear, as they assess already recorded court documents, if there was any unjustified warrant issued.
If an accused is innocent until found guilty is it not fair that the FBI are considered to have done their work legally until it is shown otherwise?
Least we forget, the person concerened is also accused of witness tampering. In addition the MAGA mob, like the Mafia before them, are already sending a plethora of death threats to anyone breaking ranks and giving evidence to the authorities, in an attempt to intimidate witnesses into remaining silent.
In conclusion, I do however strongly doubt, given the nature and profile of the person concerened, that any mistake has been made in the affidavit as that could result in a mistrial. Not a good thing considering the hugely biased rightwing SCOTUS. |

He has not "admitted " to it being unprecedented. There is nothing wrong with it being unprecedented. It just means that it never happened before.
As indicated by other posters, it will be redacted as appropriate to protect witnesses.
The intent of the calls to do this is to imply doubt where there is none as a normal process has been applied. It is also an attempt to discover who the witness was. |
