Are we simply seeing Johnson's usual laziness + incompetence? Or is he doing nothing because he wants his successor to take the blame for the huge cost of living crisis that's coming? Then he can try to weasel his way back in... |

The government could act over the looming threat. They haven't. Martin Lewis debunked the line of bollocks you're pushing. |

It is worth up to £1200 . What more do you want .

He is too busy selling his £1,200,000 flat to pocket £400,000 profit made in the last 3 years.
Why would he give a toss for anybody else? |

Because there's nothing in it for him personally..
He's only ever been about himself..
His legacy will be one of being the only PM with a criminal record whom his own party got rid of rather than him bringing them all down..
Bojo the toxic clown..

"Could it be that parliament is closed for the summer holiday, so nothing could be done even if he wanted to?
nope
Did you check to see if they were in?"
Have you heard of a thing called recalling Parliament? It can be done whenever it's deemed needed. A looming crisis where millions will likely be unable to pay their bills sounds rather a lot like a good fucking reason, wouldn't you say? |

Not really, no.
Is there anything that could be done today, which wouldn't work if we waited 2.5 weeks till they get back? |

Why is it that people who continually criticised PM Johnson and every decision he has made suddenly now want him to make another decision? |

What exactly would he do? The amount of people who demand someone needs to do something, but what?
Let's hear what you think he could do to turn around the worlds recession in the UK tomorrow.
I'm not a fan of his, and if it was any other PM or party in charge, I would say the same thing.

The lack of action shows the incompetence of the whole system which goes beyond individuals and crosses party lines. There is an energy and cost of living crisis that is hurting the public and parliament is in holiday... |

What is the answer? Do you think people aren't working on this now because parliament is in summer recess? I'm confused by people saying we need action, or somebody should be doing something, as though the civil service is doing nothing at all...
Is it communication you want? If it is, would you be happy with, we are working on it? Or would you demand answers?

Meanwhile Labour's response to a glaring open goal is to pass the ball along the 6 yard box and see if someone else wants to tap it in.
They've just announced that they would stop pre-payment meters being more expensive. But they would also re-imburse the energy companies for the revenue that this would cost them.

It needs to be targeted support.
While we will all feel the pinch, there will be those who feel it far more acutely than others. They are the people who need the support, not those who could manage if they tightened their belts a bit.
I don’t want a tax reduction or a chunk of cash for the household, knowing that if I make a couple of adjustments myself I will be able to manage.
It’s not right and it’s not fair

I agree, the right people (they wont be MP's, PM's or cabinet members) will be working out what needs to be done, and hopefully with their counterparts in other countries too.
Get it right first time is the most sensible way forward, as you point out. |

I think that over recent years what has become very apparent to many people in this country is that Conservative Governments are simply not in the business of protecting their own citizens unless their backs are against the wall and they have no other option.
This begs the question that what is a Government for if it is not to take care of and protect its own people?
The “privatisation of everything” experiment has failed the ordinary people of this country and rewarded shareholders instead. That is back to front logic because ordinary people should benefit, and when times are hard it should be the shareholders that take a haircut.
Next time a Government proposes something ask yourself who will benefit and if you don’t agree with the answer, stop voting for the cunts. |

I'm not a Boris fan either, in fact he is responsible for me not even considering the Tories for the next GE. I'm not sure he should be announcing any policy unless it has the support of the candidates for PM. No point starting a new scheme only for the new PM to scrap it within a month or so. Best he can do is put as much pressure on suppliers as possible. I'm not overly confident it will happen though |

"They could start by telling Ofgem to freeze the price cap rather than raise it. Power companies have made profit for decades, they can make a loss for one year.who do you mean by power companies?
"
The companies that supply us power. Granted they may buy power from other companies but the principle still stands. Let them have a loss for one year if needs be. They have made profit year on year for decades. |

"What we are seeing is a typical Tory government. If you don't like it stop voting for it!"
To stop voting for them their needs to be a credible alternative which people do not need to feel compulsion to vote against! |

This is the worst excuse for voting Tory.
The opposite of voting for the Conservatives, is not voting for the Conservatives.
The media keep people voting Tory, and nothing will change while the current system allows political parties to be funded by corporations and rich individuals. |

And we ended up with both anyway. |

Yes, imagine how much worse off we'd be under Corbyn. That's the mindless chorus. I've yet to hear how Corbyn woulda actually been worse than the corrupt serial liar + lawbreaker Johnson. |

Corbyn's rather irrelevant now, though. Johnson became PM. And he was as awful as expected by many. Johnson's on his way out finally. The next question is: will Truss be as awful as expected? |

No Corbyn fan myself. It was Hobson’s choice for sure. BUT Just curious... how would Corbyn have been worse than Johnson and how fo you know that? |

They don't.
It's the mantra that is chanted to justify how bad an idea it was to make Johnson Prime Minister. Voters were not overjoyed because Corbyn lost, it was because Johnson won. No one knows what kind of PM JC would've been but everyone knew what kind of PM BJ would have been because he's held more high profile positions, been fired from some, messed up in others and was STILL voted in!
Media scaremongering at it's finest made Johnson look like a "safe" choice. People are too proud to admit it was a bad decision. The fact that he won by a landslide makes the electorate more accountable. |

That was the previous election.
In any case, you appear to have given evidence to my point.
People have been conditioned to believe this shower of self serving narcissistic government ministers is as good as it can get. |

Yes it was the last election and thus the only one of any relevance in this debate until the next election! I believe a far better government than the current shower is possible but limp Corbyn, communist McDonnald and 2 left shoes Dianne, who knows what would have happened but they don’t have a intelligent idea between them. I take that opinion directly from watching and listening to them on question time, at PMQs and various other political show appearances. I was not “conditioned” into that viewpoint. |

I think we're arguing the same thing, just a minor difference.

Cor blimey it is angry in here at times...
I'm not a 1 party person, I vote for the MP in my area that is going to be the best person for the job based on my views and theirs.
In here it seems you are either on one side or the other, throwing insults and putdowns at every opportunity.
I confuse many because I can change my position in favour of who and whatever I choose, it is rather liberating when I see the the type of hostility being on the wrong side brings.
What I'm looking forward to is a change in government, and being able to watch how those who are so angry at Johnson and the tories start to react when all the problems are still there and they are still being handled badly. I predict it will start with "inherited this mess" to an end point of "If Johnson had done this, he would have got away with it".
I'm looking forward to the spontaneous combustion a change will bring.
Nothing like the deep rooted hatred based on being red or blue, it makes my days a little brighter.
As you were |
