"Record levels of coral cover. Turns out it’s not dying at all. Despite decades of scare stories from climate change activists the reef is bigger than ever.
Can we trust climate change activists? "
This is not exactly accurate is it ?
Have you factored in the fact that loads of people a lot of volunteers ect have bee re seeding the reef over the years and doing all they can to try reverse the damage.
Also see that the southern parts of the reef are still declining.
So not all rosey as your post suggests |

Also OP seems to be confusing "climate change activists" with "marine biologists".
This story is about the faster than expected rate of recovery after mass bleaching events, which are more common now due to climate change. It's meant to highlight how fragile the GBR is, and how the new choral is very fragile and that further conservation efforts are required alongside efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
I can see that if you only read the headline, and if you've been conditioned to believe any old rhubarb, that you might come to the conclusion that science doesn't exist.

To be fair, "faster than expected rate of recovery" does seem to suggest that the coral isn't as fragile as we thought it was. |

Just so we're clear, your argument is based on
A. Not understanding the science
B. Not having read the article.
C. Under the weird premise that Marine Biologists are trying to get rich by studying the GBR
D. Not understanding that the real money being made is by the fossil fuels industry, who are largely responsible for putting out misinformation about climate change.
Is that about it?

The studies behind this are actually very interesting, the conditions are such that the rate of recovery have exceeded expectations. The newly formed coral is more susceptible to damage from cyclones, which are stronger and more frequent due to climate change. |

"OP, work on the basis that nothing can be said against climate change. You’re not entitled to an alternate view, I thought all understood this"
Sensible views are great, if your view is based on not understanding the science, it's pointless.
Why would you try to argue that science isn't real instead of taking the time to understand it?

The human eye can resolve an object 35m across when viewed from space. If that's the size of the North Pacific Garbage Patch, I'm not overly worried. |

"The hysteria though is worrying, so called ‘experts’ putting the fear of god into children. Lets keep it real.
You don't think that is just a little bit of an exaggeration? I am sure if I asked most kids they prolly wouldnt have a clue about what is going on with the GBR.
The OP seems to spend the majority of his time in fear of something, sad to see
Really, such as?
Foreigners
People crossing the channel on boats
Boys called Mohammed
Children being scared about climate change
I don’t fear any of those things. What are you on?
In fairness you post up daily expressing fear and worry about these things, then spend the rest of the time denying what you said earlier. It's pretty weird behaviour.
No, it’s you and your whacky, and quite frankly, unwarranted assumptions.
If I raise a topic or express concern doesn’t mean I’m in fear.
okay, so lets start again, what concerns you about the results from this survey on the great barrier reef?
The hysteria from all those predicting the demise of the GBR and the climate Armageddon that follows.
Who is creating this ‘hysteria’ ?
The fascist slag - Attenborough and his cronies. Aided by the spiteful Greta. What is scary is how quickly they have indoctrinated the simplistic leftie bourgeoisie‘ ‘I’m alright Jack, I’ve drawn up the ladder you can all duck off’ brigade. "
And there we have it , so much confusion, hatred and fear in one small post , |

Allegedly, according to some. As I said before, the climate has always changed. What happened to global warming by the way? |

The climate changed on geological timescales.
Now it changes year on year.
Global warming was confusing to morons who didn't understand what "mean global temperature" means. So they changed to "climate change". |

Why shouldn't we make fun of views such as science isn't real? Especially when they're based on lack of understanding, and not reading past the headline?
Sure, people are free to believe that the sun is fueled by Marmite and that black holes are made of mustard. But we can chuckle at their views. |

I suppose you can, if you're the sort of person that enjoys mocking the afflicted.
But you can't expect to change anyone's mind by pointing and laughing. |

If someone is willfully ignorant about the world around them. With views like Climate change isn't real, the pandemic was planned, brexit is a good idea, celery was genetically engineered by Genghis Khan, etc.
Then no amount of logic or reason will make a jot of difference.
Also, not making fun of the person, but making fun of their point of view, if it's outlandish, and demonstrably incorrect. |

Well owned up to. You should give lessons to some of the other posters round here.
But to get back to the topic, the state of the science on coral reefs does seem a bit shaky. Just 3 months ago a report was published saying that 91% of the reef was affected by bleaching, and that if nothing was done the reef would be totally destroyed.
https://amp.theguardian.com/environment/2022/may/10/devastating-90-of-reefs-surveyed-on-great-barrier-reef-affected-by-coral-bleaching-in-2022
And now we have another report saying that things aren't nearly as bad as we thought. Maybe we just don't yet know enough about coral to make good predictions. |

The problem with all these reports is not the study of what's happened. It's the reports interpretation of the predictions.
Bleaching events are really bad, but it appears that the new coral regrew faster than expected. |

It’s his style I’m afraid. So closed minded with an I’m right and you are all morons’ mindset. People like that really need to get out to the real world more. While we still can of course before we all drown from the rising sea levels.
People that despise the media, a hatred for the Mail one example, they keep quiet though when they report on things that support their own beliefs. Funny that, but then they are a strange lot. Keep it real folks.
The ‘sandalistas’ tend to forget that you can’t feed eight billion people without oil and the infernal combustion engine. |

Not as clever as they thought perhaps? Don’t forget, in 1900 ‘experts’ predicted Londoners would be knee deep in horse shit by mid century. They didn’t think the motor car would replace the horse. |

Or cleverer, as they continued to research and find more about it.
Now you're worried about the lack of horse poo in London, we can add this to the list along with.
A. Foreigners
B. Teaching science to kids
C. People in small boats
D. Not enough horse shit on the roads.

Just so we're 100% clear. You're saying that reading about and understanding science is "close minded". Meanwhile jumping to random conclusions, getting angry and worried based on reading only a headline is somehow sensible and being out in the real world?

Anyway, let's get back to your confusion about science.
You need to scroll back and read your posts. I have and I’ve come to the conclusion that you like to portray yourself as an expert (smart arse) while denouncing everyone that doesn’t agree with you as a moron. It’s not clever, it’s just nasty. Stop it. Try being open minded.
Why should anyone be open minded to silly unscientific arguments in a scientific discussion?
There you go again. You just can’t help yourself can you? If it’s not something you believe, it has to be ‘silly’. Stop it.
I haven't spoken about my belief.
Science provides understanding of the world around us and removes the need to "believe".
Don’t be such a pedant.
I would like to express a huge thanks to those that DM me in support. It is a little worrying that many good people are wary to comment in the political forum as they simply don’t want the grief from a handful of belligerent holier than thou types with a self appointed sense of importance. "
I have had 600 DMs just this morning saying that anyone who doesn't believe the science is daft.
I know I thought it strange too that all 600 (and exactly 600) used the word daft. |

So closed minded with an I’m right and you are all morons’ mindset.
Just so we're 100% clear. You're saying that reading about and understanding science is "close minded". Meanwhile jumping to random conclusions, getting angry and worried based on reading only a headline is somehow sensible and being out in the real world?
Excellent. Good to know.
I have never mentioned anything of the sort. What an odd chap. You make things up, some of them quite bizarre - mustard? Celery?
Clearly you are not for turning or learning. Your mind is made up, you are right so they must be wrong and anyone that doesn’t share your view
Is a moron.

What’s going on here folks? I’m off to Chelmsford to ask Essex Tom!
Cycling of course as I don’t want to fire up the V8 and end the world. Actual, I can’t afford to fire up the V8! |
