The very funny comedy show Mock the Week is ending.

Some say it’s because the real life political world is so farcical that the satirists repeating of events is no longer believable. Also that it is so terrifying how bad things are it’s no longer funny either.

Is it however the BBC perhaps being obedient, as the political powers that be have had enough of the comedians exposing how totally shit this government is?

I wouldn't be surprised if both of those were factors.

Also wouldn't be surprised if there is an element of Dara being ready to stop too.

Reminds me of a few instances this past year where The Onions headline has seemed more believable than the ACTUAL headlines.

"Used to be funny - not so much now "

That probably because the current crop of politicians are more than capable of making complete mockery of themselves and their policies without any help from comedians….

To be honest I think it's just that it's been on the televisions for 17 years! I think it has just had its day.

Isn't it part of the governments plan to axe any left leaning comedy?

And seeing as the political landscape has been pulled so far to the right, any criticism of the government is now seen as extreme loony left.

When you need satire these days you just need to switch on the news. Much cheaper than paying scriptwriters.

I noticed Ian Hislop of Private Eye has irked the establishment with his demolition of the select committee on MPs expenses and behaviour.

Maybe it’s the MPs thinking who do these people think they are and do they know who we are?

I accept like others it may have run its course and indeed the real world of our politics is a joke in itself but the attack on Channel 4 along with a major critical programme just seems a little bit too coincidental .

I’m not normally a conspiracy theorist but it did make me question motives.

Wandering thoughts I know.

It's just run its course. Why does there have to be a conspiracy theory behind it? Shows we thought might never end, like Grandstand, Top of the Pops or the Generation Game, ended. People didn't race to an Internet forum to spout ulterior motives.

Unfortunately, the Internet plays an alarming role in fostering distinct and polarised online communities. Believers share their opinions and “evidence” with other believers and people they hope to "convert" - see vaccine threads and political threads.

I see Neighbours has ended after 37 years. What can it all mean?

Clue : nothing

You’re spoiling my debate by being sensible so please stop by with all these grown up comments!

Btw I didn’t read anything on any forums I just questioned why .

Nadine Dories has to do something in office.

Mostly it’s insanely stupid stuff but I thought I’d give her supporters something to hope for.
