I watched this clip and the summary you have given is very misleading..
The woman being interviewed was saying that gun ownership gave citizens power within the country, that power allows them influence and enjoy freedoms. Her argument went on to say, Venezuela where there are no firearms, meant they could not rise up against a tyrannical government, leaving them in a position of starvation.
It was a bad analogy of saying firearms affords freedoms such as dog ownership, no firearms and those dogs become food, due to starvation.
But my oh my, I can see how conspiracy theories fly, if this is the level of twist or lack of being able to understand an analogy that leads to a completely different story than the one told. |

To clear this up as you kindly offered up the clip:
He said: "So get this, radical right-wing extremist Lauren Boebert said that the reasons she opposes responsible gun ownership is because we have good dog groomers in America and good dog treats and responsible gun ownership would lead us to eating dogs, which she says is happening in Venezuela, What! watch this clip."
What she said: "If the citizenry in America is disarmed, then we are no longer citizens, we are subjects. You know here in America we have gourmet treats for puppies, we have these amazing groomers for our dogs. Well in Venezuela they eat the dogs and it started because they don't have firearms, they do not have a way protect themselves, defend themselves against a tyrannical government"
The youtube presenter clearly is spinning the shit out of this.... |

You are proving to me that critical thinking is probably not a strong point for you.... You have rubbished the way The Mail twists things to suit their agenda, this is exactly what you have done here. 2 options, keep saying your quote here is correct and actually what was said.

Oh, so now you're claiming that it was someone else that said it, so it's not your fault.
But that doesn't answer my question. Do you think that the words "Lauren Boebert ... expressed concern that responsible gun ownership would lead to bad dog grooming ...", from your original post, accurately reflect what Boebert said? |

Being a American there is stupid on both sides of the political spectrum. You just have to out the stupidity and come to your own conclusions. No need to get angry over something so trivial. It's just showmanship. |

You have misquoted, that is a given, 100%.
What does interest me more is you doubled down on the story, maybe or maybe not knowing it was a poor analogy by the gun lobby person, that has been spun by a Youtuber.
You have now said "I do find it funny just how much parsing of individual words you have to do to argue this"
Which is exactly what you have done from the very first post, not a good day in the office |
